Being mulatto, Paul had many unique features. He had some of the best calves of all time, and great, complete legs overall (especially for his height). For whatever reason he couldn't pose, and had really crippling shoulder problems that probably limited his training, leading to his weak chest and delts later on. Either way, he had one of the best frames ever, with a crazy shoulder/waist ratio. Look at his traps in this pic
After the '94 Arnold fiasco Paul seemed to lose something, and began to increasingly decline. He collapsed backstage at the '98 O and was gifted a NOC win later. After that it was over, with his 2006 "comeback" being a disaster that surprisingly few people talk about.
Strangest genetics ever. Paul would be shredded, but the muscle would hang off of him like fat, especially later in his career. When standing relaxed his back looked incredibly thick, but it wouldn't open up correctly in the back shots. I wonder if his shoulder issues made it difficult for him to bring his arms back far enough on the BDB? Either way his delts overpowered everything.
IMO his best year was 1993 (see pics).
