I knew 4chan would eventually come through.

Man is spotted in the crowd with a backpack, in another pic, his backpack is missing.

4chan did it again.

Your links don't work.

Even more reason for YouTube to remove it. Well spotted.
I don't think they removed it because they are worried about the link between the cartoon and what happened.  They do this all the time.  It is simply a copyright issue.  You could simply download the torrent from a hundred different torrent sites.  The big movie studios are all over Youtube and anyone who posts any of their stuff has it soon removed and is issued a warning.  Three strikes and your out, I am currently on two strikes for my youtube account after posting UFC fights.

If we are at war and don't know it... can we really be at war...?
For sure, just because you are too dumb to recognise it, isn't going to stop the enemy blowing your shit up, it just makes their job easier.  If someone is beating you up, and you do nothing because you are too dumb to realise you are in a fight, you simply make the task easier for the guy beating you up.

No one I was around in Australia acted like this E-Kul character.

Most thought our gun laws were fantastic, and almost all wanted to migrate to the US for at least some point of their lives.

They were very cool people.
Keep believing your own bullshit.  I have lived here for 40 years, and I can honestly say no one has ever once mentioned guns except when they were introducing stricter gun control after the Port Arthur Massacre, and even then it was almost all pro Gun Control.  Those who spoke out were considered right wing Nutters, as they are to this day.  Guns in Australia is simply not an issue anyone ever talks about.  The Gun Lobby gets ZERO airtime in the mainstream media and I am yet to meet an individual who has told me they want guns for protection, not one person in 40 years.  Australians often talk about how ridiculous Americas gun Laws are, but never the other way around.  If during your visit, Australians agreed with your Gun Nutter attitude, they were just being polite.  I have also never ever met one person who wants to or has emigrated to the United States.  Anybody I know who has gone over there for work has dreaded the assignment.

Can someone pls give a reasonable explanation.....

If the police were running bomb drills with sniffer dogs etc, why did the bombs not get detected?

I read somewhere, and I can't find the link just yet, that the bomb wasn't made with traditional gun powder (or something like that), not that I understand the first thing how to make a bomb, but maybe that had something to do with a dog's inability to detect the bomb.

Al Qaeda Link Probed

Law enforcement and intelligence authorities investigating the Boston terror bombings suspect al Qaeda terrorists were behind the blasts that killed three and injured scores although so far there is no firm evidence.

So far there has been no claim of responsibility, something that in the past was a characteristic of al Qaeda’s attack methodology. Senior jihadists monitored by Western intelligence agencies on the Internet remained silent in the hours after the bombings, officials said.

However, initial reports indicate the bombs were fashioned from pressure cookers and designed to avoid detection by bomb-sniffing dogs. Investigators believe the devices were delivered in duffle bags and are now searching surveillance video of Boston for clues. An al Qaeda magazine in 2010 directed terrorists to use kitchen materials to make bombs, including pressure cooking bombs, for killing “tens” of people.

The bombs contained metal pieces designed to increase their lethality.

A review of recent jihadist web postings show that several al Qaeda affiliated terrorists stated attacks on U.S. soil were coming.

For example, an al Qaeda weapons specialist, Abdallah Dhu-al-Bajadin, wrote in an online jihadist website last month that al Qaeda remains capable of conducting spectacular attacks against the United States. He dismissed U.S. intelligence assertions that al Qaeda is in decline.

“If your reports say the organization is a danger, we strike you on your own turf and show ourselves to be more dangerous than you expect, with operations that dazzle your security experts,” Dhu-al-Bajadin stated, according to a translation of the report.

Another online report from April 1 quoted an Ahmad Bin Laden who posted a YouTube video urging the White House to withdraw all U.S. troops from Saudi Arabia by May 31. The jihadist announced plans for “a thunderous war against all the vital sectors in America.”

“You are forcing us to escalate and destroy your country and its people,” the video stated.

Also, some analysts speculated the recent video message from al Qaeda leader Ayman al Zawahiri contained subtle clues that an attack was coming.

Al Qaeda’s first issue of Inspire magazine published in July 2010 contained an article on how to construct a bomb in a kitchen that will be undetectable to sniffer dogs.

The article, headlined “Make a bomb in the kitchen of your mom,” urges jihadists in the United States and Europe to “work inside the West such as the operations of Nidal Hassan and Faisal Shazad”—the Islamist attacker in the U.S. military who conducted the Fort Hood shooting and the failed Times Square bomber, respectively.

“My Muslim brother: We are conveying to you our military training right into your kitchen to relieve you of the difficulty of traveling to us,” the article states, adding that “all that you have to do is enter your kitchen and make an explosive device that would damage the enemy.”

The article notes ingredients for kitchen-made bombs are readily available and do not raise suspicion and can be easily disposed if authorities conduct a search.

The Inspire article says gunpowder placed in a pressure cooker can be used as a bomb.

“The pressurized cooker is the most effective method,” the article said. “Glue shrapnel to the inside of the pressurized cooker then fill the cooker with inflammable material.” A small light bulb can be used as a detonator, it said.

“Place the device in a crowded area,” the article said. “Camouflage the device with something that would not hinder the shrapnel such as cardboard.”

“You need to also include shrapnel,” the article said. “The best shrapnel are the spherical shaped ones.”

Also, “sniffing dogs are not trained to recognize them as bomb making ingredients,” the article says.

“In one or two days the bomb could be ready to kill at least 10 people,” the article said. “In a month you may make a bigger and more lethal bomb that could kill tens of people.”

If the police were running bomb drills with sniffer dogs etc, why did the bombs not get detected?

It's been 20 yrs since I trained bomb dogs but I'll hazard some input because not a whole lot has changed. Let's get rid of the word drills. It gives the impression they were in a mock excercise or something. I don't think there were any "drills" going on by any police entity that day.

If it's reported that the area was swept by dog teams at certain points during the day a number of reasons could explain them not detecting an explosive.

1. The explosives weren't present at the time the dogs came through. They could have been brought in shortly after the last sweep

2. In 1992 dogs were being trained to detect 9 odors associated with bombs...C-4, dynamite, gunpowder, det cord, etc etc. The explosive device might have contained an odor not normaly trained

3. Wind or air currents come into play. In an outdoor enviornment, dogs either have to be brought to within close proximity of the device to detect it, or be downwind of it to pick up the scent cone.

4. fatigue of the dogs and major distractions of people, movement, various odors present could come into play but typically not an issue as dog teams are worked short periods of time before given breaks, and masking odors are generally not successful

5. Construction of the device. If it was air tight, and care was taken to remove any particles of the explosive material from the outside of the container, or care was taken to never have any explosive particles on the outside of the container and it was sealed air tight, it would be almost impossible for the dog to hit on it.

6. A combination of any or all of the above would result in the team missing a device

I doubt the container was air tight and care was taken to remove any residual from the outside. I suspect the bags were placed shortly before the blast and after the last sweep to avoid detection. Bad guys wouldn't want their device left unattended for too long.

Pressure Cookers, if properly sealed, will be airtight as that is how they are able to cook the food so fast.  I don`t think that really matters as there just are so many people that its not feasible that a dog or three in the immediate area would even be that useful.

I think in the future, for these type of events, security should handled in the same manner that the secret service handles Presidential visits.  Metal detectors are set up, EVERY bag is searched, Every Camera and electronic device opened and inspected, and only then can someone proceed past the checkpoint.  I found it to be a very efficient system and was impressed with the level of security at these events.

Yes, would be easy to do for a 26 mile event.

Obama has received the most death threats of any President in modern History and everything has gone smoothly.  This event makes the Boston Marathon look like an IFBB Pro show in Guam.

doesnt look like an islamist.... which would explain why they didnt revendicate the terror act... sounds like it s an isolated fucked up murderer with a personal agenda who mimicked (sp?) the islamist way of planting bombs... Probably hiding now until he s caught.

Remember the Olympic Park bomber in Atlanta in 1996?  Well he was a hardcore Christian who said he did the bombs because of his religion, specifically targeting gays and abortion.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_Rudolph

Eric Robert Rudolph (born September 19, 1966), also known as the Olympic Park Bomber, is responsible for a series of bombings across the southern United States between 1996 and 1998, which killed two people and injured at least 150 others in the name of an pro-life and anti-gay agenda. The Federal Bureau of Investigation considers him a terrorist.[1]
As a teenager Rudolph was taken by his mother to a Church of Israel compound in 1984; it is connected to the Christian Identity movement.[2] He has called himself a Roman Catholic in "the war to end this holocaust" (in reference to abortion).[3] He has confirmed religious motivation, but denied racial motivation for his crimes.[4]

Had it been several islamists they would have detonated all their bombs...looks like an isolated amateur more than a group of people, or they would have been able to detonate all the bombs or at least the majority of them. It's only one dude who was able to only detonate two of them.

Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick confirmed that "two and only two explosive devices were found yesterday," although many packages were investigated. "There were no unexploded explosive devices found."
