Title: UFC 162 - Anderson Silva vs. Chris Weidman - great fight

LOL faggit

Anderson Silva bobbed, weaved and clowned his way to the first loss of his UFC career.

The now-former UFC middleweight champion showed little respect to opponent Chris Weidman, who entered Saturday's UFC 162 pay-per-view headliner as one of the smallest underdogs of Silva's long title reign.

As a result, MMA's pound-for-pound kingpin and arguably the greatest fighter in the sport's history gave away the fight as much as Weidman won it.

In front of a stunned crowd at Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena, Silva (33-5 MMA, 16-1 UFC) dropped his hands, dared Weidman (10-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC) to take a swing, and laughed off the challenger's attempts. That was all well and good through the first round, when Silva escaped from an early takedown and heel-hook attempt to get back to his feet and deliver some late-round leg kicks.

Anderson never fought someone with decent striking until Weidman.

Vitor Belfort has no defensive skills.

Anderson was playing his same old cocky bull shit with his hands by his side. Got a hook to the face once and acted like his legs were wobbly. Then Weidman hooked him again and he dropped. I hate that classless crap and I am thrilled he got his ass knocked the fuck out!

Sad thing is that Anderson could have ended that fight at will in the 2 nd round.. Just wanted to show off.. Got caught.. Every take down attempt after the first Anderson stuffed.. And Chris is really no match standing with Anderson.. Anderson should be embarrassed.. His corner was even telling him to stop showing off after the first round.. He says he is done but I guarantee when he sees the fan reaction after the fight he will want a rematch to go out on a good note.. That being said I don't like Anderson.. But he lost he fight by acting a fool more than Chris won it..

Spot on. If I'd never seen Anderson fight I'd assume he couldn't, displayed nothing other than ego. Got what he deserved but I'd say it's served as a wake up call and he won't try the same shit next time.

Anderson has pulled that shit in his last few fights, all his opponent needed to do was overreach with the punches and he would tag him.

Thats exactly what happened here.

Well, seeing as how he held that title for 9 years with 16 successful title defenses...those mind games seem to work.

I think its not clowning but a strategy....but he is 38 years old so he apparantly has lost a step in fighting......still the best the UFC has ever put out

Hes not lost a step, his speed was unbelievable at times but no excuses for him. He deserved that. Well within striking range of a man that didnt fear him and was willing to throw, he might as well have offered him his chin. A focused Silva IMO would KO Weidman inside 1 round, but i dont know if he has that aggression anymore, a'la GSP's rematch for the title. I also firmly believe Vitor would have beaten him in a much more violent manner this time round and i think he'll beat Chris if they face off.

10 defences Vince, remember he fought at LHW a few times during his streak and the Lutter fight was not for the title.

Anderson has not fought what i'd call consistently great opposition in the UFC, not his fault as he can only fight whomever they match him up with. Okami is NOT a HOF fighter, hes OK in a so so division. Leites & Cote are a joke at that level, Nate really isnt so great and Rich was strong in a pathetic MW lineup. Maia has changed his style and should have given Silva more problems than he did, and Chael had him in the bag but lost again to the triangle.

Of all the people he faced i expected Vitor to dispose of him comfortably, and if they fight again i stay true to that prediction. Hendo didnt represent himself as well as he could have but, ultimately, he lost to Rampage & Shields around that time too.

Essentially i have seen better records for fighters that arent even  discussed anymore, but his skillset still makes him a valid choice for best in the world.

Bindair what I am referring to is the fact that silva was tagging Chris at will in the 2 nd and Chris was missing most of his punches and had his takedown easily stuffed by Anderson.. If silva wouldn't have screwed around that fight wasn't going past two or three.. Silva threw that away more than Chris won it..

Congrats to Weidman!

Anderson Silva is obviously a good fighter, but I could see this coming. His astronomical ego finally got the better of him. Not a very smart fighter.  Very satisfying to see him knocked the fuck out.

Anyone that knows anything about the fight game here knows that this was a real KO.
Anderson has done the same kind of defense (and head games) in previous fights and made guys look foolish chasing after him.  It doesn't always work, just takes 1 good shot from a tough opponent.  That's why coaches never advocate this style, no matter how much talent the fighter has.  Anderson said he had a very good training camp and prepared for 4 months...you don't do that to throw a fight.  He hasn't lost in 16 fights so some of his post fight comments were strange, he was probably shocked as well.  People just aren't used to seeing such a great fighter get caught.  It happens.
Hats off to Weidman for a great performance and excellent composure.
They should fight again.

That was my point.  Anderson isn't just clowning, he's trying to bait his opponent to exchange.  People don't want their supermen revealed to be human.

The amazing thing is that he is 38 and moves faster than everyone in the weight class.  I didn't see him slowing in that fight, just too much bullshit and Weidman kept his composure.  For the folks saying Silva didn't want it or is tired...you say that because of his responses after the fight, when he was probably more stunned than the rest of us...and his pride was hurt.  The dodging and weaving is part of his game plan and mental game, agree but it is also his confidence & arrogance (plus it works often for him).  Definitely want to see them fight again.  I cannot say Weidman is a better fighter than Silva, but on Saturday he was.
