Haha, no doubt. Some of the guys should take a page from mel's book. Alot of them would have looked alot better by putting the size on more slowly like he did and not just blowing the fuck up as quickly as possible. I mean he's been around for a while and just very slowly and steadily improves. On a side note, I was watching him in BFTO 2005 the other day and when he takes his shirt off and walks away from the camera I was pretty shocked at his back development. It's not as big as alot of guys but it just looked so fucking freaky all over, and the wasp waist made it 10x better.

Yeah I'll admit it was hanging a bit more than before but he had added some size. I guess there is a point where the gut just has to grow a bit. You can always hide Mel's gut though, just stand him next to gustavo, lol.
Although, this can be a dangerous practice. A friend of mine wanted to get a picture with gustavo once and got too close when he leaned in for the thumbs up pose. The gravitational pull of gus's gut pulled him in and he was stuck in orbit around his midsection for two days. Mel needs to be cautious of this.

If you factor in weight, the worst gut ever was Palumbo's. In absolute size, I guess Coleman in his 2004 version is hard to beat. However, Fux at the 1997 Olympia would be a strong contender for Coleman when it comes to sheer gut size.

Many people mention Kovacs, but the reality is that his gut was never very distended; it just so happens that he has extremely wide hips and terrible abdominal shape, which makes his midsection look much worse than it really is. Kovacs has absurd genetics for size and strengh, arguably the best of all times, but he has awful genetics for bodybuilding.

The pic above of Kovacs is the sort of thing i was referring to in another thread regarding large bodybuilders looking more like fat slobs than ... bodybuilders. If you don't have a small waist and a V taper (not an A taper) you don't look like a bodybuilder, as far as I'm concerned.
