sickening video - F BLM

Every time something like this happens it's another nail in the coffin for NYC.

The rich will flee and either sit on their over-priced real estate for years or take big hits.

Most of these rich will just sell out and take a beating methinks.

Tax collections will drop greatly so the rest of the state will be more heavily taxed to support NYC.

NYC will turn into a complete slum.  Higher wage people will still come in daily for their Wall Street jobs but they will not live there.

Broadway Will Remain Closed Through June 2021
Theatermania ^ | October 9, 2020 | David Gordon
Posted on 10/9/2020, 11:47:57

Broadway's reopening date has been pushed to June 2021, the Broadway League has announced. Refunds and exchanges are now being extended through May 30, 2021, though the organization did not commit to an official return date for shows while the pandemic continues.

A number of shows have already moved opening dates to March and April, 2021— The Music Man with Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster, Plaza Suite with Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker, among them — and all of them will have to be rescheduled again.

All New York venues went dark on March 12, 2020, and have remained so ever since.

Damn shame as NYC is one of America's great cities.

Rudy G. did a damn good job as Mayor of NYC .
I also think current GOV of NY Cuomo is doing a good job on dealing with the pandemic.

I'm no fan of current Mayor Bill Dablasio ( sp?) however.

Ask yourself:

Do I really want the Country run by the same party that runs New York, San Francisco, Seattle, Portland and Chicago?

'I might never play again': Renowned Japanese jazz pianist is robbed of his ability to play after being beaten up by teens on NY subway
Daily Mail ^ | Oct. 13, 2020 | Sophie Tanno
Posted on 10/13/2020, 12:32:18 PM by rickmichaels

A renowned Japanese jazz pianist has been robbed of his ability to play his instrument after he was attacked by eight teenagers at a train station in New York City.

Tadataka Unno, 40, who may never be able to play the piano again, was exiting the West 135th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue subway station in Harlem on September 27 when the suspects blocked the turnstiles and confronted him.

The musician attempted to walk around the group, but was yelled at and pushed from behind. He was eventually punched in the face and body.

According to Unno's wife, racial slurs were also yelled during the attack.

But police say no anti-Asian remarks were indicated in the report but the investigation is ongoing.

Unno was rushed to Harlem Hospital where he underwent surgery on his shoulder.

'I had no idea why I was shoved. One of them pointed at me and said, This guy just pushed me' to her peers. This was not true,' Unno told CNN.

'One of the others said, "She's pregnant," as if to imply that I had just attacked a pregnant person.'

Unno said: 'I might never play again.

'The trauma, both physical and mental, are severe, and I have no timeline for a full recovery.'

Unno said he is completely unable to use his right arm following the attack.

Jennings, an instructor at the Julliard School, and a good friend of Unno's says he is now suffering mentally and physically and is unable to play his instrument, which is his sole income.

'He's going to need some type of cushion to not worry about it, the medical bills, and he's going to need therapy,' Jennings told CBS Local.

Just goes to show how unpopular jazz is.

I question the truth of this because no jazz musician can make a living playing jazz.

No way.  Living in Houston for 38 years i have seen it turning more and more blue.  All the large Cities in Texas are getting very blue by the urban morons who live there.  Too many Californian's and New Yorker's moving there.  Austin has been a very liberal place for a long time, but it was also very relaxed and social, with a solid mix of good old school Texans.  Austin is now a complete liberal cesspool and will be the next San Francisco.  My sister lives there and it's sad to see how far it has gone downhill in the last 10 years.  Just the amount of homeless people and beggers on the streets of Austin and Houston is terrifying.  They have these massive camps that are riddled with drugs and illnesses.  They walk around like zombies all day.

I've been saying this for a while, but once the Oil and Gas market gets wrecked by the Democrats, Houston will be the next Detroit.  Texas is about to get wrecked by liberals over the next 10-15 years.  Watch and see.  Houston is turning very blue, San Antonio is liberal, Austin is liberal, Dallas/Ft Worth are turning blue too.  In a decade or two, the urban areas will out populate the country folks that are Republicans.

NYC Theaters Sue de Blasio, Cuomo Over COVID Closures
Backstage Daily ^ | OCTOBER 28, 2020 | DIEP TRAN
Posted on 10/28/2020

If “Saturday Night Live” can perform to a live audience, why can’t theaters? That’s one of the arguments in a lawsuit filed by a coalition of eight Off-Broadway theaters and comedy clubs against New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio. The city’s live venues have been officially closed since March, and have not been allowed to reopen.

The lead plaintiffs in the lawsuit, filed in the Federal District Court in Manhattan, are Catherine Russell, the general manager of the Theater Center in Times Square, and Michael Sgouros of Greenwich Village’s the Players Theatre. Other venues to join the suit are the Actors Temple Theater, the Gene Frankel Theater, Soho Playhouse, the Triad, Broadway Comedy Club, and New York Comedy Club.

The lawsuit argues that small venues can open safely at limited capacity and demands that Cuomo’s executive order closing small venues be overturned. The lawsuit was filed by attorney James G. Mermigis, who wrote: “Casinos, malls, movie theaters, restaurants, gyms, catering halls for weddings, christenings and bar mitzvahs, bowling alleys, ‘Saturday Night Live,’ schools and colleges have been allowed to reopen but the small venue theater industry remains shuttered despite its median capacity of only 144 seats.”

According to the suit, the small venue theater industry generates $1.3 billion in total economic output, over 8,400 full-time equivalent jobs, and $512 million in wages. It said that if the venues aren’t allowed to open soon, they “may be forced to permanently shut their doors.”

In a statement to the New York Times, Richard Azzopardi, a senior adviser to Cuomo, said: “We get sued virtually every day for virtually every action taken during this pandemic, and frankly, I’ve lost track of all the frivolous suits filed against us.” He then added, “We are moving heaven and Earth to contain this virus and we know some people are unhappy, but New York continues to have one of the lowest infection rates in the nation, and better to be unhappy than sick or worse.”

Meanwhile, the Broadway League has announced that Broadway theaters, where the seating capacity is much larger (usually at least 500 seats), will remain closed at least until May 2021. Movie theaters in NYC also remain closed, though Cuomo has allowed cinemas outside of the city to reopen starting Oct. 23 at limited capacity. In addition, there have been a number of outdoor performances to small audiences throughout the city.

Mermigis’s law firm has filed similar lawsuits for New York gym owners and restaurants. Both entities have been allowed to reopen under limited capacity.

De Blasio vows Halloween crackdown amid ‘worrisome’ COVID surge
nypost ^ | 10/29/2020 | By Julia Marsh and Lia Eustachewich
Posted on 10/29/2020, 12:17:35 PM

Mayor Bill de Blasio vowed to crackdown on large Halloween gatherings this weekend amid “worrisome” new data showing an increasingly growing number of COVID-19 infections in the city. Over a seven-day average, 1.92 percent of New Yorkers have tested positive for coronavirus — a statistics that’s typically hovered between 1.5 to 1.75 percent over the past few weeks, the mayor said at his daily press briefing. “The growth is what worries me,” he added.

Citi Brawl: Bill de Blasio is trying to kill Mets sale to Steve Cohen

Bill de Blasio has privately told Major League Baseball that he will do everything he can to stop Steve Cohen from buying the Mets.

The Post has learned that Hizzoner called MLB commissioner Rob Manfred earlier this month and told him outright that he opposed the idea of a hedge-fund billionaire buying a local team and would be using his oversight power of the city’s control of the Citi Field lease to prevent the sale from being finalized.

NYC: MTA’s ‘Doomsday’ Budget Could Lead to Long Waits for Trains and Buses (10,000 Layoffs)
Ny1.com ^ | No. 17, 2020 | BY DAN RIVOLI NEW YORK CITY
Posted on 11/17/2020, 10:44:08 PM by 11th_VA

Sources tell NY1 the MTA is proposing deep service cuts to subways and bus that could mean long waits between trains and longer walks to the bus stop, plus nearly 10,000 workers laid off.

The MTA is planning to present the plan to its board during its Wednesday meeting.

MTA officials have threatened 40 to 50 percent transit cuts and layoffs unless the agency gets $12 billion it requested from Washington D.C.

The plan obtained by NY1 shows that on weekends, trains could run every 15 minutes, with longer waits between trains on weekdays, and even potential, unspecified suspensions in service.

The MTA raises the possibility of eliminating entire bus routes, and cuts to trips on a third of bus routes that survive the cut. The MTA aims to have New Yorkers within a half mile of a bus stop after the cuts.

The layoffs alone - 9,367 workers, mostly NYC Transit subway and bus workers - would save the MTA $1.2 billion a year.

In a statement, MTA spokesperson Ken Lovett said, "We've said all along that unless we received $12 billion in federal emergency assistance we would be forced to enact draconian cuts and layoffs. As we are required to enact a balanced budget and the feds have yet to act on another COVID-19 relief package that would help mass transit, we are moving ahead hoping for the best but preparing for the worst. If the federal aid comes through in that amount, we will adjust our spending plan accordingly."

John Samuelsen, an MTA board member and president of the Transport Workers Union, said in a statement that “the TWU will fight tooth and nail to defend the MTA workforce, there will be serious consequences if there is an attempt to implement this plan.”

New Yorkers May Have to Pay Package Delivery Surcharge to Help Fund MTA
NBC New York ^ | 8 Dec 2020 | Anonymous
Posted on 12/8/2020, 4:44:14 PM by Rummyfan

With the Metropolitan Transportation Authority facing a budget crisis, New Yorkers may have to dig into their pockets to help out.

Under a new proposed bill, New York City residents would be required to pay a $3 surcharge on packages they ordered online, with the exception for medicine and food.

Assemblyman Robert Carroll, who proposed the bill, says the online shopping fee would raise more than $1 billion a year "to fund the operating costs of buses and subways in the city of New York."
