i ordered a bicep blaster yesterday
its en route via fedex as i type this
anyone ever use one before?!
-
Used it a few times...thought it was uncomfortable tbh.

Or you could have stood with your back against a wall (feet out a bit), elbows touching the wall, and do strict curls that way. Either with a BB, EZ bar or a pair of DB's. Or press the elbows in and hard against the Abs/waist and curl that way. Or lean back against a straight post (elbows not touching anything) and curl that way. But if the Bicep Blaster works for you, than great. Good luck.
-
Good luck.
thank you!

I had one as a kid. Worked well enough. Now I just do drag curls, Gironda style. I see more of the old school training protocols coming back. We need an old school training thread.

You ever try Vince's "perfect curl?"
-
Use one all the time in my gym. Old school piece, but works great.
I tried curls leaning against a wall, but it was too awkward.
Have fun!

I had one for years, and used it on and off. You gotta play around with the length of the strap to find where it's comfortable. Used it for barbell curls, dumbell curls, revere curls, hammer curls. It can even be used for pressdowns to make them more strict. Good thing to have to throw in for variety.

i have one, used it once at the local gym felt like a moron pulling that out, now its collecting dust in the garage
-
Wouldn't preacher curls be just as effective and offer the same isolation?

Yeah. It works pretty good. Most people working biceps are really working front delts without realizing it.

Absolutely.
I’ve been doing spider curls a lot for about the last month, and that’s one of the reasons.

Man, its been years since I've seen a spider bench... :'( ;D
Good gyms with quality equipment are a thing of the past. I gave up the gym membership when the asshole running the joint doubled the amount of treadmills and cut the weight pit in half. He said "People want cardio."
-
Oh, I wish we had one, too.
I simply do them by lying prone on an adjustable bench set at the lowest inclined position.
It would be great to have the actual bench, but this method comes close enough to be the next best thing.
If you like curling from an elevated elbows position, also consider doing high-cable brachial curls. The tension is slightly different, and I do these every now and then to change things up.
I've also done cable curls on a lat pull down machine (curling the bar to behind my head), but the motion is rather awkward & uncomfortable for me.

im looking4ward to using it

I wouldnt even worry about using the blaster for a while even when you get back to training bi's. It takes a good long while to even feal comfortable using your arm, much less locking it in place with that bicep blaster. I just worked on using my arm for everyday use and worked in very, very slowly on direct bicep work. It took me a good 3-4 months of fealing comfortable enough to really go at it in the gym. Good luck, take your time and listen to what your body tells you.

Iron-Chef Tim has just unlocked the door to his own bicipital fury!!!
-
The arm blaster hits your bis awesomely; I throw it in at least once every three bi workouts.

I agree

Never liked them...presses on my diaphragm and feels very uncomfortable.
Kind of a gimmick in my opinion, just like those fancy snake oil supplements that don`t work.

Uh, if you're hoping that it in itself is gonna work wonders, then you're working out strangely. You use it among other bicep exercises and perhaps in place of, say, preachers. It's no more a gimmick than a preacher curl bench.
Also, if it's pressing against your diaphragm, adjust the length. You likely need it lower. It used to do that same thing to me until I figured out how to use it properly.

As with most things in the world of training, it’s over-simplistic and foolish to try making blanket statements either way about something that is based on individual usefulness and personal preference.
I would never tell a guy who benefits from something that it’s garbage; nor would I try convincing a guy that something is golden after he gave it a fair shot & decided it’s not for him.
