I dont see the point of any pro trying to compete in anything other then the Olympia or Arnold Classic. The promoters of these small shows obviously make a decent profit, as they continue to hold the contests year after year.
I am assuming that the only reason most pros compete in these "small shows" is to qualify for the Olympia, or to get a name.
$10,000 dollars (before taxes) for first place, is just pathetic.
The sponsors should be to blame as well. All of these tightwad supplement companies need to put a little more back into the industry that makes them.
Who is the current rep for the pros?
There needs to be a minimum of 25k for first place, in all IFBB sanctioned, pro contests.

the issue is that bodybuilding has dug itself into this niche, gay trench
and the people "behind the scenes" (as i've heard you say before re: get big's movers and shakers and your interactions with them via AOL AIM) who run the ifbb truly don't care about money. They make some money in fact, but for the mass majority they are mega schmoes
this is why kai keeps on trucking; why wolf's closest to touching #1 was 2007 (not last year); why they appeal to an all gay crowd (mostly, except about half of get big. i really believe that. that the only heterosexual super fans of bodybuyilding reside here, and we all have some other issues, like shizzo you are an alcoholic and have parinoid delusions, i am a sociopath, junior is a fantasist (in the best possible way, he actually does make a lot of money and wasn't born iwth a silver spoon but he's a fantasist still) --I love all of you at the end of hte day and dig into people for fun, but we're all fucked up here.

appeals to middle east by giving teh gift placements they gave to Kai over to rami
and really embraces phil and secondly Wolf while he's still competing and treats them as the FACES of bodybuilding
and changes the thongs back to trunks a la 74 etc
then we have a solid start
oh and all of the people who run IFBB need to be replaced because you shouldn't be able to suck a few dicks and get a 2nd place year after year when you look like ABSOLUTE FUKCING SHIT LIKE KAI DOES.
