OTM talled me that you always need two people , one person on the other side of the house and both of you attached by a rope that way if the man on the roof slips he wont fall off the roof cause he will be ancored by the guy on the other side

falling off a roof sucks a giant penis. i fell and the same shit, broken ribs, punctured lung. and i landed on my side and my elbow, so my arm bone drove up into my shoulder joint and totally blew it out.
broken ribs HURT, and there's nothing you can do but deal with it

I was a contractor for DirecTV.
I fell because i was employing my then Brother-in-law as a helper because he needed work.
I didn't like the ground, was aware of the problem, so i specifically tell him to foot the ladder as i'm going to get off. So I'm dressing wires along the house , put my foot on the ladder to get off and it goes flying, I'm hanging in mid-air for a second thinking "I'm dead" and then i don't remember anything until i woke up in the hospital 6 hours later.
turns out asshole got a phone call from his girlfriend and walked away to talk.

all jokes aside i could have been killed that day, and i had a two year old daughter at the time. that's all that kept running through my head.
My best working experience was when me and my partner would just bang out a job just the two of us, we didn't even have to talk, we knew exactly what the other guy needed and was thinking and we would just blow shit out..those were fun days.

worked with my uncles roofing co for a bit ,,was on roof pitched enough i needed boards and brackets,,,well i pulled nail out of bracket and board went bye bye,, i scrambled up the roof trying to grap nails sticking out the ones before cleaning off during ripoff well down i went screaming grabbed the gutter that failed fingers twisted right off in pain down into a bush feet first i got hit with shingles/debri for good measure ,,the kicker the fucking board that kicked out landed in bush before me .i landed in between board bruised the shit out of my leg,,,felt like a big fall probably 15 to 20 feet..

The best thing to do is have experience Mexican fellas do that type of work. :-X I know some that shingled a 50' church roof that was extremely steep without harnesses... :o

You got it. when that ladder kicked out and i was hanging in the air for a split second, it was the worst feeling of my life. it's not like i slid down a roof and knew it was coming and could hang on the gutter, and try and land right. it was just "ZIP" and i was midair, instantly. i reached out and tore the gutter right off the house, sliced the shit out of my fingers
and i got lucky as fuck, all things considered. to my left was all of the service to the house, meters, pipes and whatnot, and to my right..like two feet, was a metal fence. I landed right between the two of them with likes inches to spare.I got hurt pretty good, but i could have got fucking horribly mangled.
i recovered quick, did P/T for six months.. never even went for shoulder surgery. my ortho said that shoulder surgery was no guarantee, it's the hardest joint in the body to successfully repair. I had no pain so i passed on it, and i am fine....
the only thing is if i lean on my right elbow for too long, like laying down with your arm holding you up...my shoulder hurts like a fuck after a few minutes. and my injuries are covered for life so if it ever got bad i can have it taken care of

Michael Katz (born November 14, 1944) is a former American IFBB professional bodybuilder and former professional football player with the New York Jets, most famous for his appearance with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1977 bodybuilding documentary film Pumping Iron.
Katz attended Southern Connecticut State College, graduating in 1966. He worked as a Jr. High School gym teacher while training as an amateur bodybuilder. Katz cited bullying in his youth for being Jewish and wearing glasses as inspiration for weight training. He was known for his role as the underdog in the 1975 Mr. Universe competition, where, he refused to give up on himself despite placing 4th place in the Tall man division. Katz later went professional and qualified for the 1976 Mr. Olympia, placing 2nd in the heavyweight division in what was considered his peak form (Katz had greatly improved his proportions, considered his main flaw as a competitor).
Mike Katz was also a pro football player with the New York Jets before ending his NFL career with a leg injury in 1968.
Katz appeared in the documentary Challenging Impossibility (film), commenting on the weightlifting odyssey of spiritual teacher and peace advocate Sri Chinmoy. The film was an Official Selection of the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival.

I was a roofer, roofing contractor, roofing inspector and did all the spec work for the Ford.and GM plants for 20+ years and never fell off a ladder or roof.

I own my own roofing biz and I have personally carried 2 people into the hospital from falling. One off the ladder and the other slipped on granuals on a re-roof. Now my guys have to be tied off or I will send them home. Not cool at all. Hope him the best.

That sucks. Must be in a lot of pain. Falling off a ladder is no joke, especially when you're over 250 lbs. You need to use the right ladder and stage it properly - I've learned the hard way. I will also not get on a roof at close to 300 lbs.
