I was working out the other day and heard this come on and it reminded me of the kind of music I used to hear in the late 70's and early 80's.

Instant classic for me!

This song has some 'Club tropicana' elements, no coincidence  ;D

Some gooseebump and chill inducing classics.

Bodybuilding related: if you find that you are not getting goosebumps from music like you used to, it is possible that you are overtraining. Overworking the sympathetic nervous system. Take time off training and retest. This is cutting edge stuff you won't read in the magazines.

That's a good point about overtraining. We tend to think that we're not overtrained, as long as each muscle has been recovered within 24-96 hours, which is wrong.

Strong goose bumps here! 8)

I am Schizoaffective, so thought it was pretty cool some recording of a woman saying she has it, got sampled into this...One person i showed this too got pissed off that they think its cool or some joke...But i like it, I like that they make it cool...Better to make it cool, then make it sound like you are a loser cuz you have a mental illness...

There's still a huge taboo on this, but I believe this is changing. More people than ever aren't afraid anymore to reveal their personal characteristics, it becomes accepted.

"Burning Man is a week-long annual event held in the Black Rock Desert in northern Nevada, in the United States. The event begins on the last Monday in August, and ends on the first Monday in September, which coincides with the American Labor Day holiday. The 2012 Burning Man Festival took place between August 27 and September 3. It takes its name from the ritual burning of a large wooden effigy on Saturday evening. The event is described by many participants as an experiment in community, art, radical self-expression, and radical self-reliance. Burning Man is organized by Black Rock City, LLC. In 2010, 51,515 people attended Burning Man. 2011 attendance was capped at 50,000 participants and the event sold out on July 24. In April 2011, Larry Harvey announced that the organization had begun the process of transitioning management of the festival over to a new non-profit called the "Burning Man Project"."

It is tiresome yes, to hide it all...Shit even in the mental illness circles, with the varying diagnosis, some judge others...So there is a long way to go...

In general, me either. But there were some nice exceptions in the eighties like Roxy Music, Ultravox, Duran Duran, David Bowie, the Simple Minds, the Human League and Prince (not everything).
However, the first CDs I've brought were prob those from the Art of Noise, like this album, groundbreaking back in the day..

In general, me either. But there were some nice exceptions in the eighties like Roxy Music, Ultravox, Duran Duran, David Bowie, the Simple Minds, the Human League and Price (not everything).
However, the first CDs I've brought were prob those from the Art of Noise, like this album, groundbreaking back in the day..

Depeche Mode was one of my favourite in 80, I still remember the album 'A Broken Frame', don't know how young you guys are and if anyone remember this. Used to love Alphaville as well, they had a few big hits
'Big In Japane' was one of them

i dont even know what progressive means, but if you youtube "coronita mix",theres many of them, thats the most uplifting and brain-deading music, absolutely awesome 8)

Progressive is all about the opposite of mainstream/common/commercial/etc stuff, the kind of music that you will hear almost everywhere.

They keep changing things, just like Gmail, which is pretty annoying/confusing. When you press on the arrow, right from your user name, you should see your favorites playlist far left, right under the Youtube logo. I hope this helps!  :)

There wasn't much action, it's rather a psychological movie with silent/introspective moments. In that sense, Japan was a perfect shooting location. It was also a bit documentary like; how does the Japanese city culture looks like?
As a nice bonus, Scarlett looked at her best in this movie. After that she became a blonde bimbo :-\

I've listed to various versions, but can't find the one which was on the radio back then. This version is pretty close to that radio edit, minus that 50 sec intro.

The Verbrilli Sound

"The Verbrilli Sound was created by Don Verbrilli and is as much a philosophy of music as it is a verifiable musical act. Verbrilli's claim is that the purest musical creations are not in fact the work of an artist or of a single mind, but are instead the creatures of an intricate and mysterious process. Called the Verbrilli Effect, the process involves the reception of available atmospheric transmissions, plus a sequence of unforced creative accidents. Theoretically, if the artist is in a proper mindset and musical equipment is at hand, there will be enough electromagnetic energy to attract any number of patterned transmissions from a host of sentient sources."

Interadesting!

Music is a mood maker. When you pay attention, it can ease your mind, fire you up, make you focussed, sentimental and so on.. Personally, I don't believe in 'best' this or that; too much of the same gets boring.
Lately, I convert whole albums, but other stuff as well, into MP3 and go for a long walk.

Great song and also one  of their best albums ever...

Love this album too. Scary but somehow comforting where your mood is on the dark side.

One of my heroes of electronic music,

"Biosphere is the main recording name of Geir Jenssen (born May 30, 1962),
a Norwegian musician who has released a notable catalogue of ambient electronic music.
He is well known for his "ambient techno" and "arctic ambient" styles, his use of music loops,
and peculiar samples from sci-fi sources. His track "Novelty Waves" was used for the
1995 campaign of Levi's.
His 1997 album Substrata was voted by the users of the Hyperreal website in 2001
as the best all time classic ambient album.

You can check this band's work and also "Kluster" which was the same band plus Conrad Schnitzler. The music was even darker, very industrial and oppressive. Great work but not for the faint hearted. Schnitzler solo work has a good number of gems also.

Steve Roach
"(born February 16, 1955) is an American composer and performer of ambient, electronic music and tribal-ambient music, whose recordings are also classified in the genres of space, drone, and New Age. Roach is recognized as one of the "leading innovators of contemporary electronic music." "

"Originally a Motocross racer, at the age of 20 Roach taught himself to play the synthesizer[5] after being inspired by such influential synthesizer artists and groups as Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, and Vangelis."

I don't blame those 'artists' for this poverty, but rather the music industry. They decide what most of us hear/see on/in the mainstream media. These days, it's -nearly- impossible to start an independent radio or TV station without serving the music bizz; it's simply too expensive.
This being said, I would like to thank Tim Berners-Lee, Vint Cerf‎ and other 'mad' scientists for inventing the Internet.

Nice mellow track. I started this morning with isochronic tones and a cup of tea. "isochronic what?!" you might ask, well here's a detailed description from the makers.

"HEADPHONES REQUIRED - Note: As this session stimulates each ear with different frequencies, you will need to use headphones to experience the full effect.
Alternative background sounds available on Mp3 at the above page: Orchestral, Hybrid, World Music, Rain, Brown Noise.

Use this session in the morning or afternoon, to train your brain for better cognition, such as clearer and faster thinking.

This session stimulates Beta, SMR and Alpha, alternating in 2 minute increments to help keep the user relaxed and engaged.

Note: SMR (sensorimotor rhythm) relates to the frequency range between 12 - 15Hz. It's associated with sensory processing and motor control. Stimulating this can result in relaxed focus and improved attention.

This session is meant to speed up the brain while keeping the left hemisphere dominant (good for attention, concentration and reducing emotional response and hyperactivity). ADD and similar disorders are often characterized by "slow-wave" EEG patterns, particularly in the left frontal region. As such, this session stimulates the left brain hemisphere with Beta frequencies and the right with SMR.

Very calming music, I can see how it has a positive effect on the mind...

The trick is to create tones with a specific frequency rate or within a certain zone, from delta that leads to a deep sleep to gamma that leads to deep thinking/better focus.  These tracks are like meditation sessions, a bit boring due their repetitive nature, so it takes time to mentally adapt.

I know that speaking person in the beginning, it's Willem de Ridder. Called him multiple times during his radio shows and saw him once during a speech about his book, a controversial and fascinating guy. I remember his interesting conversations with people like U.G. Krishnamurti and Byron Katie very well.

It's kinda a " you have to know"  question...really don't know if you can google it.

I'm hosting a party for my GF  friends...they are mid 30s early 40s...I have the rock and pop down as far as tunes to play but I'd like to mix in some fat ass club music ...what would be some good..not poppy shit...dance tracks that they would like and recognize from when they were in the scene.  These are cool people who clubbed pretty hard.  Like 10-15 tracks tops.  Maybe some rap.

I believe that the eighties was the final era in which dance/club music was made, which is both recognizable as good(!), so that's a tough one, LOL!

Maybe this (https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=nineties%20dance%20music&sm=1) Youtube query might help?

Youtube is very good at searching for a specific year...Type the style of dance you are looking for whether it be trance, house, techno, then the year...I do that all the time and come up with gems I have forgotten about...That is way easier for you and us, instead of trying to remember specific tracks of artists from memory...

Youtube is very good at searching for a specific year...Type the style of dance you are looking for whether it be trance, house, techno, then the year...I do that all the time and come up with gems I have forgotten about...That is way easier for you and us, instead of trying to remember specific tracks of artists from memory...

Yeah that is what I'm gonna have to do....was being lazy but I'll probably enjoy the process.  I think having good tunes is key for a good party. I just hit shuffle ....I don't think I'm "dj G" ...LOL.

I'm not a music nerd trying to impress people but at the same time I'm not gonna play hard rock all night because that's what I like.

Thought Guild

Ever since Tangerine Dream's rapid decent into creative oblivion in the late 1980's, the hole they left in Berlin-school ambient has been more than ably filled by the likes of Alpha Wave Movement, X1 Project and even a few of the old-school originals like Klaus Schulze.

There is still plenty to say in the gentre, too. Electronic music now well and truly has a history and Thought Guild - a duo consisting of the late Christopher Cameron (1966-2011) and Alpha Wave Movement's Gregory Kyryluck - are in a sense re-creating history by using vintage analogue synthesisers to capture a particularly rich sound that once dominated European electronic music. It's not quite nostalgia however; its more a case playing with a sound palette that's been around a long time and using both period analogue instruments and modern digital tools.

William Orbit

William Orbit (born William Mark Wainwright, 15 December 1956) is an English musician, composer and record producer. In the early 1980s he formed synthpop act Torch Song with Laurie Mayer and Grant Gilbert. In 1987 he released the first of his Strange Cargo album series, containing ambient music.
Towards the end of the 1990s Orbit started to work with bigger name artists, producing songs on Ray of Light and Music by Madonna, 13 and Think Tank by Blur and Saints and Sinners by All Saints. His work with Madonna led him to win three Grammys. He worked again with Madonna on her 2012 album MDNA producing six songs.

Mind.in.a.box

"mind.in.a.box is an Austrian electronic music band which includes Stefan Poiss (vocals), Roman Stift (bass), Gehard Höffler (drums) and Adam Wehsely-Swiczinsky (guitar). Their "technopop" sound can be described as a cross between futurepop and progressive trance."

"For their albums, the songs feature monologues, snippets of audio logs and conversations that combine to tell a story that spans the albums. Together, they form a mysterious epic that draws on science fiction, fantasy and noir fiction."

Ambient Temple Of Imagination

"The Ambient Temple of Imagination is an open collective dedicated to activating the world's imagination through experimentation.

Part ambient-trance group, part holistic listening-music healers, ATOI's Mystery School project was founded in 1992 by Richard Sun and Seofon in San Francisco as they pioneered chill-out sound environments for raves around the area. With introspective chill spaces, ritual performance art, and spoken-word poetry, ATOI focused on the public ceremonial exploration of magick and sound."

Faunts

"Faunts was formed in the fall of 2000 by brothers Steve and Tim Batke. Faunts are released on Friendly Fire Recordings. In 2005, their debut album High Expectations/Low Results was well received.[1] In 2006, a 40-minute EP entitled M4 was released that grew out of music crafted to accompany short films for the Film and Video Arts Society.[2][3] One of the tracks from the M4 (M4, Pt. II) was featured during the final credits of BioWare's 2007 RPG Mass Effect.[4] This raised the band's profile and "a sizeable new audience was exposed to Faunts’ moody, subdued melodies".[5] On November 18, 2008, they released a remix album titled Faunts Remixed, featuring remixes by acts such as Mark Templeton and DVAS, which is available exclusively through iTunes.[6] The newest Faunts album, Feel.Love.Thinking.Of[7] was released on February 17, 2009, and is the result of songwriting over the course of the touring across America. Most recently, BioWare chose to feature another Faunts song, Das Malefitz, during the final credits of Mass Effect 3."

When talking about the music of Com Truise (one of the many pseudonyms of New Jersey designer/musician Seth Haley), the nostalgia bit inevitably comes up, so let's get that out of the way. Yes, his songs tap classic sci-fi and proto-electro in a way that is distinctly early eighties in scope. But they're also remarkably weird—stutter-step proggy and intoxicatingly psychedelic, like those classic touchstones got drunk on lava lamp juice inside a pinball machine. After his well-received Cyanide Sisters EP, a grip of remixes for artists like Twin Shadow, Neon Indian, and, uh, Daft Punk, and a few floating MP3s, Truise's first LP, Galactic Melt, will finally enter brainspaces this summer.

love this one

I'm not a fan of Tiesto's mainstream trance stuff, but this is a great mix.
He's from my old hometown Breda. Never met him in person, but he seems a down-to-earth guy, based on what I saw in a documentary.

I am not big fan either but he did good with this one. Mind you original is great as well.
By the way Tiesto made $32 million last year. He is still at the very top, only Calvin Harris made more, $46 million. Crazy

Once upon a time on a cold and rainy day, two French artists from Paris suddenly realised that life was too short. The day after, they created Krystal System and started making songs, shooting videos while making some concerts in France and switzerland.
Their first video clip "Slice" won the International Cravefest Video Awards and, the same year they signed with the electro label Alfa Matrix (Front 242, Arya...).They released their debut album Underground in 2009.

The band's alchemy results with an eclectic and boosted combination of music genres ranging from elektro, indie rock, cold wave and metal. All these influences are mixed with Bonnie’s juvenile and provocative vocals (in English and French) tempered by the warm male vocal of Seven.

With a deep background in the technoscene they started playing around on their computer in 1995 and this step brought them along many paths they hadnt dreamed of. The experience aquired along the way has switched the scene from the amateur thing of the beginning to the standard of today; an acclaimed production with an exquisite feeling for sounds and percussion.

The project Ticon was started in 1999 as a natural progression towards something new and they soon got the attention deserved. Their unique style walks the thin line between progressive house and trance with crossover excursions on both sides. This gives their music a variation from the floorfilling to the hipswinging funky but they all emit the Ticon sound and the message to be happy and to be loosin it to the music.

(Andrew) Weatherall's DJ career started to take off when he met Danny Rampling at skater Bobby's party that he played at in Chapel Market, Islington, and Rampling invited him to play at his club night Shoom. Farley and Weatherall became regular Shoom DJ's, playing the upstairs room, and also at Paul Oakenfold's Future / Spectrum nights and Nicky Holloway's Trip. They also did their own parties and started a record label under the name of Boys Own Recordings.

Weatherall has produced such artists as Beth Orton, Primal Scream and One Dove, and has remixed the work of Björk, Siouxsie Sioux, The Orb, The Future Sound of London, New Order, Manic Street Preachers, My Bloody Valentine, James and many others. Most recently he produced the album Tarot Sport for Fuck Buttons and assisted The Twilight Sad with the production of their third studio album, No One Can Ever Know.

Dirty melancholic house music is the produce of much musical soul searching for emerging Norwegian star Finnebassen.

Leaving his teenage genre hopping days behind him, 2008 saw a house music epiphany, as a deep rooted interest in electronic music began, bringing Finnebassen to the sound he relays today.

Straight outta “Hamburg house city”, Adana Twins helped secure their home’s reputation for deep grooves with a series of early EPs that have made them among the most buzz-worthy acts to emerge from the German media capital. Placing repeatedly in the pole position on both Resident Advisor and Beatport charts, the duo of Take It Easy and Friso have found their way into the record bags and Traktor set-ups of the world’s top DJs, while comfortably establishing their own sound where sleek beats and clever sampling are only a small piece of a bigger musical vision that began to form during a previous era.

Hybrid.
This term best categorizes the music of Dan Voicians, a producer from Stuttgart in the South of Germany. Listeners can expect a full-on sonic assault through an eclectic mix of musical styles. From Rock, Drum & Bass to piano/orchestral and electronic elements – this cross-genre bullet ride IS the sound and identity of Voicians.

Celldweller is a Detroit, Michigan-based musical project created by multi-instrumentalist artist, producer, songwriter, performer, programmer, and remixer Klayton. Klayton creates a hybrid fusion of digital and organic elements: intricately designed soundscapes that take cues from electronic genres like drum and bass, electro, and dubstep, woven together with aggressive rock/metal and orchestral elements. Celldweller songs have been featured in many films, movie trailers, television shows and video games.

According to Charles Neal’s Tape Delay, seven hertz is the frequency that is most dangerous to human life with effects including prolapse, internal organ damage, disorientation, vomiting, nausea, and even death. Apparently, the first man to generate the sound was killed in the process. 7-Hurtz, a collaboration between UK DJs Lascelles Gordon and Ben Cowan, was inspired by this knowledge. The former was a co-founder of the UK acid jazz band Brand New Heavies, has drummed for Sandals, Beth Orton and Campag Velocet, and previously ran a club night, ‘Helter Stupid’. Cowan, meanwhile, has previously been a dancer with contemporary outfits Ricochet and Bedlam and a member of the LoWilliams Band. Sharing their mutual love of Jean Jacques Perry, John Carpenter soundtracks and electro, the duo create sparse, pulsing music that splices early 80s electro with more contemporary deep ‘n’ dark breaks. The pair’s music was deliberately conceived to circumvent the music that they had previously created. 7-Hurtz has notably collaborated with Peaches and Bitch Lap Lap, contributing a cover of Prince’s ‘Sexy Dancer’ to the compilation, If I Was Prince. The duo’s Audiophiliac and Electroleum, were released via Output, the label formed by graphic designer and producer/musician Trevor Jackson.

Ye, it's a shame really.
Cause he doesn't think he's good enough and finds all these excuses not to take it to the next level and try to push for live performances etc.
I get that he's a perfectionist and wants to leave a good impression, but it inhibits his progress in becoming a 'known' artist if that's his goal anyways.

That's what I meant, he doesn't feel ready for any such things. He's currently 'just' a producer, who believes he can't dj. Personally I am of the opinion dj's are vastly overrated and the mere fact he produces is an indicator of his talent. He's currently in Finland though, and he's told me 'the scene' isn't particularly huge there, so that doesn't exactly help either.

Hopefully he'll catch a break sometime.

Born from the simplicity of emotive choruses and lush electronic ornaments, Goldroom has transformed into a fascinating tale of modern music culture; a nostalgic romance of tropical textures and soulful rhythms.

After the success of his single “Fifteen”, which found itself with over 300,000 plays on Soundcloud, the top spot on the Hype Machine charts, features on Pitchfork, Spinner, MTV, and spins on BBC Radio 1, few can say that they’ve had a year quite like Goldroom. In less than that amount of time, Goldroom’s travels have seen him touring on stages in Asia, Europe, South America, Central America, Australia, and of course across the USA and Canada.

SBTRKT (pronounced "subtract") is the musical project led by Aaron Jerome. SBTRKT has remixed songs by artists such as M.I.A, Radiohead, Modeselektor, Basement Jaxx, Mark Ronson, and Underworld, and has released singles, EPs, and two albums. His music has been playlisted by BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 6 Music.

SBTRKT also has performed live with frequent collaborator Sampha. The live show to 2012 consisted of Jerome utilizing electronic and acoustic drums, synthesisers and effects with Sampha playing two keyboards and singing.

Jerome uses the project's title rather than his own name in order to support the concept of anonymity. Jerome has explained "I'd rather not talk about myself as a person, and let the music speak for itself. The name SBTRKT is me taking myself away from that whole process. I'm not a social person, so having to talk to DJs to make them play a record is not something I want to do. It's more about giving them a record as an anonymous person and seeing whether they like it or not. If they play it, they play it."

To further support SBTRKT's anonymity, SBTRKT wears modern interpretations of native society ceremonial masks designed by A Hidden Place.

Palm Skin Productions specialize in darkside dub excursions, heavy on the downtempo breakbeats, jazzy flourishes and gut-bucket percussion. It's all the work of one Simon Richmond, though occasional collaborator Chris Bowden often appears on saxophone. Richmond first worked as a percussionist for the Talkin' Loud label's in-house session team K Collective, working on tracks by Jhelisa, Neneh Cherry and D*Note. He began recording as Palm Skin Productions in 1994, and appeared on the 4th & Broadway compilation series Rebirth of Cool with the track "Spock with a Beard." Richmond followed with two 1996 singles for Mo' Wax Records, "Like Brothers" and "The Beast," then moved to Hut for his debut album Remilixir. He has also remixed Galliano, Global Communication, United Future Organization, D*Note and the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion.

Tommy Noble is an electronic music duo from the Central Coast of California. They have had a whirlwind year since their first tracks released Summer 2011, smashing the Beatport charts from the get go after a flurry of offers from dance music's biggest labels. Their tracks quickly caught the attention of the whos who in EDM, and in the time since then they have shared the stage with: Tiësto, Steve Aoki, Dirtyphonics, Porter Robinson, Datsik, Mord Fustang, DallasK, Dada Life, Bart B More, PeaceTreaty, Wolfgang Gartner, Le Castle Vania, Spencer & Hill, and more.

Pioneering the « nu-disco » sound, years long before that kind of sound started to invade the worldwide indie charts, Laurent ASH aka LIFELIKE’s early productions (« Black Chess » EP on the legendary “20000ST” record label) soon pricked the ears of the likes of DJ Falcon and Thomas Bangalter (from Daft Punk), and playlisted his record during their "Together 2002 tour", which if you’re a young Producer, is basically the equivalent of getting all six numbers in the lottery, finally introducing him very quickly into the very small but highly talented "French Touch" family.

The Glitch Mob, originally a five-piece including Kraddy and Kitty-D, was formed in 2006 within the burgeoning Los Angeles bass-driven 'beat' scene. The group made a name for themselves playing live, choosing to perform with laptops and MIDI controllers like the Lemur. They won fans through showcasing their chosen technology during solo performances, and after gaining attention in Los Angeles and San Francisco, the group eventually toured more widely along the West Coast and then to various festivals worldwide. After citing "creative differences," founding member Kraddy left the group in 2009.

Ambient composer Virgil Enzinger (featuring music by Michael Sterns) is featured on Fabian Enzinger’s Zen, which journeys to a Zen temple in the remote Japanese Alps, revealing the mindfulness and spirit of the practice. Inky brushstrokes, swirling smoke, and hands poised in silence are not as strikingly photographed as some of the other movies on our list, but snapshots of the still world offer pleasant moments of reflection.

Lange was born in Shrewsbury. His career began in 1997, signing his first recording contract with Additive Records in the UK. Early popularity was achieved with a collection of releases attracting the attention of industry leaders such as Paul van Dyk, Sasha, Paul Oakenfold and Judge Jules.

A mixture of slow build-ups and melodic choruses gave Lange several hits in the UK Singles Chart. His first success was his remix of DJ Sakin's "Protect Your Mind", which became a club track. This was followed by his Lost Witness "Happiness Happening" remix. Other remix credits include work for Faithless and The Pet Shop Boys (the Lange remix of "New York City Boy" featured on their PopArt album's bonus "remix disc").

Trans Canada Highway is an EP by Boards of Canada. As described by Boards of Canada and Warp Records, the EP "visits a darker place, a glacial place, away from the warmth and light of The Campfire Headphase." Those who ordered the EP directly from Warp also received a sticker and a free copy of the Dayvan Cowboy music video.
Originally scheduled for release on 06/06/06 (perhaps to further their occult mythos), the release date was bumped up to 29 May 2006 (a day later in the US), due to what was described on the Warp website as "unanticipated satanic activity." The nature of this activity, whether it was directly related to Boards of Canada or not, has never been explained.

2. "Left Side Drive" – 5:20
3. "Heard From Telegraph Lines" – 1:09

Welcome to the world of Brooklyn duo Beacon, who explore the dark side of the sweet melody with a sound that’s as seductive as it is subtly discomfiting. The duo – Thomas Mullarney III and Jacob Gossett – met at Brooklyn’s Pratt Institute, where they were studying sculpture and painting respectively. As with many other great musical partnerships, this one involves two disparate sets of influences coming together to form a sound that’s both fresh and exciting. They fuse the deceptively sweet melodies of R&B with an intoxicating undercurrent of darkness, drawing on influence as disparate as Warp’s back catalogue and Underworld.

Bvdub is an American electronic music producer originally from the San Francisco Bay Area. Since 2007 he has released more than 40 albums and EPs under this name and other pseudonyms including his birth name, Brock Van Wey. Residing in Shaoxing, China, he produces ambient and ambient techno music that has received critical acclaim from the likes of online magazines Resident Advisor, Headphone Commute and Gridface. His first release as Brock Van Wey, White Clouds Drift On And On, was included in RA's Top 20 Albums of 2009.

Overview
Brock was born in 1974 and grew up in Livermore near San Francisco. He was classically trained as a child and from the age of five he was taught violin and, later, piano. By age eleven he had composed his first piece of music for the trio of cello, violin and viola and had written several more pieces by his mid-teens. Feeling that he did not actually enjoy classical music (and preferring instead to "remix" the pieces he learned in his head) he eventually gave it up altogether. In the early 90s he heard, by chance, a deep house mix tape that would inspire him to pursue electronic music. He was soon performing as a deep house and ambient DJ and appearing regularly at raves in San Francisco, initially under his own name and later under the bvdub moniker. Van Wey composed his first electronic piece in 1993 - an industrial techno/classical track - that differed significantly in style to the music he would later produce.

Plaid is a British electronic music duo from London, composed of Andy Turner and Ed Handley. They were founding members of The Black Dog and used many other names, such as Atypic (Andy Turner) and Balil (Ed Handley), before settling on Plaid. They have collaborated with female singers Mara Carlyle, Nicolette and Björk, and have released records on the labels Clear, Peacefrog, Black Dog Productions, and Warp Records (along with Trent Reznor's label Nothing Records).

Aside from their own material, Plaid have done extensive remix work for many other artists, including Red Snapper, Björk, Goldfrapp, and The Irresistible Force. Parts in the Post (2003) contains just a handful of Plaid's remix work to date.

Dave Gluskin

An eclectic mix of breakbeats...starts off with funk and ends with some deepness...totally improvised, no edits or sync buttons, just me, Serato, and a couple of 1200's. Features tracks by AGFA, J Boogie, BT, Stanton Warriors, and maybe one of my tracks thrown in there too.

Hope you enjoy!

Take aka Sweatson Klank has risen to the top as one of the new generation’s finest producers. In a musical landscape that is quickly becoming overcrowded, Take fuses his own brand of future-flung electronics with elements of avant-garde jazz, subharmonic melodies and a mean hip hop bounce.

A multi-instrumentalist and frequency fanatic with ten years of releases and live performance experience, Take's formula is ever evolving and his productions clearly sprinkled with his unique sonic vocabulary.

Embracing his geographic legacy in the thriving LA experimental beat community but still very much his own player, Take makes music that charts its own course through a gurgling fuzz of rich layers and textures. His sound has always been about pushing forward, breaking ground and laying a new path for producers to walk.

Ulrich Schnauss was born in the northern German seaport of Kiel in 1977. He became interested in a range of music: My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, Tangerine Dream, Chapterhouse, and early bleep & breakbeat tracks. There was not much opportunity to see his musical influences in Kiel, so he moved to Berlin in 1996.

More than men, women tend to prefer mainstream stuff...

It's a nice self-deprecation song with eighties/electro/new wave features. They remind me of bands like Siouxsie and the banshees and Bat for lashes, not specifically the tracks below.

The Black Dog is a British electronic music group, founded by Ken Downie along with Ed Handley and Andy Turner. Regarded as legends by some, the group are pioneers who, along with acts like Autechre, Aphex Twin, µ-ziq and LFO, came to define the techno movement known as intelligent dance music (IDM) in the early 1990s.

In a religious education class at a Wolverhampton school in the late 80s, Nathan Pope got his first taste of techno and house. Listening on a walkman at the back of the class to tracks by Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson, his musical world exploded and so began his life-long love affair with both types of music.

By the mid-nineties the cult of the superstar DJ had finally taken hold everywhere in the UK, and, disillusioned, he turned his back on it all and pursued a career in acting (his second love), and then software design, and even had a shot at stand-up comedy before the music sucked him back in. It sounded amazing again, a new generation had pushed it forwards and he wanted to be a part of it once more.

The birth of his daughter, now three, was the inspiration he needed and he started again. Intense, weekend-long studio sessions in Brighton sandwiched between parenting and the day-job, have given birth to his latest project, Antenna Happy.

Sounds from the Ground (SFTG) is an English electronic music duo formed in 1995. Both members Nick Woolfson and Elliot Jones met through their involvement with the underground music scene in London.

Elliot Jones's background is in chillout and dub music, from running his own label and performing for clubs and gatherings in the early 1990s. Nick Woolfson has worked in lots of different styles of music, as long as it is innovative and good quality, with downtempo being his comfort zone. Jones had written Triangle as a demo which was introduced to Woolfson; their styles matched and the duo was born.

Woolfson's studio in London is called The Starlight Rooms. Woolfson has been working primarily with Mac and Logic for approximately the last 10 years. He has incorporated older analog and digital synthesizers into his music: Yamaha CS-70, ARP Axxe, Moog Rogue, Yamaha CS30, Roland TB-303, Yamaha DX7, Virus, 2 x Roland JV-1080, 2 x Akai S3000 samplers. A Mackie 32-8 plus extra 24 input mixing desk has been rendered virtually redundant by the Mac.

SFTG have collaborated with various artists over the years, including vocalists Taz, Aine, Colein, Nicola Hitchcock, Dillinger and General Levy. The duo has also worked with pedal steel guitarist BJ Cole, ex Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor, as well as Gaudi and Benjamin Zephaniah.

Lusine (also L'usine and Lusine ICL) is the stage name of Jeff McIlwain, an ambient/IDM musician. Originally a Texas native, McIlwain now resides in Seattle. In 1998, he attended California Institute of the Arts to study 20th century electronic music and sound design for music and film. Soon after, he met Shad Scott and put out a self-titled release with Isophlux.

According to Andy Kellman of Allmusic,

"While there might be other producers who are more accomplished at making idyllic downtempo, or placid IDM, or abstract hip-hop, or haunting ambient techno, or blipping/skipping minimal house, few—if any—are capable of covering all of that ground with such sharp consistency on one disc."

Lusine is Armenian for moon. Lusine is also a common name in Armenia. L'usine is French for the factory.

Darren Foreman (born 14 May 1982 in Stanmore, North London), better known as Beardyman, is a British multivocalist, musician and comedian from London renowned for his beatboxing skills and use of live looping.

His music frequently contains elements of drum and bass, dubstep, breakbeat, trance, techno and other associated forms of electronic dance music. He also incorporates other forms of music into his live sets, including but not limited to reggae and country music, often purely for the purpose of providing a comedic counterpoint to his beatboxing. Virtually all of his music is created using only his vocal cords to produce sounds, and incorporating music technology such as vocoders and software synthesis to alter the pitch of his voice, or to add various kinds of audio effects such as delays, reverbs or modulation effects.

Scandroid is an electronic music duo formed by Klayton and Varien in 2013.

The aim of this project was to create music that consisted of elements from 80's retro and electronic music with what the duo have described as a "Neo-Tokyo" theme. DJZ called the duos first song Salvation Code a "...retro synth-pop tune that harkens back to past visions of a cyberpunk future." and that it was a sci-fi narrative song.

Teen Daze is the stage name of ambient/atmospheric, electronic-pop musician Jamison (who never reveals his full name). The British Columbia native has built up quite the body of work over the five years as Teen Daze, which has culminated with the release of his new EP and first work of 2015, A World Away.

A World Away
sees Teen Daze move away from his vocal orientated earlier work, shifting to a direction that is more beat driven, giving the listener a far better feeling of the ambient sounds at work. The EP spans six tracks, ranging from four minutes to the eight minute epic, ‘Than’, totalling around 35 minutes.

What makes Teen Daze‘s music so accessible is its ability to fill so many different moods of a listener. If you want something to relax to, A World Away, fits the description. If it is something to reflect on, or wanting to be inspired by, the EP again fits the bill.

Again if by chance any of you are considering a getaway in January give this a shot.  My wife and I have gone the past 5 years and it's become a staple in our lives. We are well experienced in party trips from Ibiza to Croatia to Vegas, WMC, etc.. This by far surpasses all of them. We might go scuba diving one day and the next we will rip it all day and night at the beach parties, such a great vibe and good mix of people. If anyone does consider hit let me know I will be glad to meet up down there.  Met two getbiggers already down there  :)

Hailing from Philadelphia, 23 year old Tyler Minford AKA Louis Futon has risen to prominence over the course of only two years. Heavily influenced by Hip-Hop, Louis Futon is the only producer ever to create official remixes for Logic, Mos Def, G-Eazy, Future, Wiz Khalifa, and more.

Regardless of his influences, Louis rebelliously declares, "Genres don't define me." From creating Trap and Future Bass rooted originals to changing the very DNA of some of Hip-Hop's biggest hits, Louis is able to defy boundaries. Typically consisting of bright melodies and rhythmic electro-tones carried by Hip-Hop drums, Louis Futon has keenly carved out a genre that ironically adheres to none.

While many of the songs on Odeon feature guest vocalists, instrumental, ambient compositions remain an area of expertise for Tosca. "I don't like the term 'ambient' so much, but I use it as a recognition point," says Richard Dorfmeister. Rupert Huber clarifies further, "We don't mean 'ambient' like the ambient scene of the 70s and 80s, or Music for Airports, rather it's more like a sound collage. When we say 'ambient,' we mean no beat." 'Bonjour,' which anchors the upcoming album Odeon, offers ample proof that Tosca's mastery of lush, pastoral soundscapes remains unchallenged, and offers a glimpse of the "elegant dark" direction explored on the new LP.

In amongst the tracks emanating from that fertile exploration, Simon Cullen’s Lasertom has been digging deep into cosmic disco sounds for the last few years ( the name at least originated from the sound of the tom drum used on disco records). In much the same way that edits reappropriate older tracks for a different setting, in Bande Apartment’s case for DJs and the dancefloor, it was Cullen’s experiments into pinpointed older grooves that set off Lasertom on the path that has now culminated in Drift, his superb debut album, out now on German label Nang Records.

Total Science is the stage name of drum and bass producers Jason Greenhalgh and Paul Smith.

The pair first met in 1987, both living on Blackbird Leys estate in Oxford, England and brought together through a mutual love of hip hop. Distracted by the arrival of hardcore in the early nineties, record collecting was quickly followed by DJing and eventually production.

Their pioneering of a revival in old school sounds and arrangements, together with Digital and Reinforced, dominated drum & bass throughout 2001.

Barfod was first exposed to the indefinable lure of the electronic music scene not by clubbing (that came later), or by specific acts, but by a long-forgotten film featuring a section set in a club. “I think it was after I watched a bad movie about raves in the 1980s that I became fascinated by it all,” he laughs. “I thought it looked very exciting and scary at the same time, and I’ve been intrigued by the whole scene ever since then really. After that I started listening to it and then I started buying my own equipment to make it.” Early musical influences ranged from the likes of Goldie, Massive Attack and Portishead, to Goa trance and techno, before drifting into house and disco.

David Robert Jones (8 January 1947 – 10 January 2016), known professionally as David Bowie, was an English singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, arranger, painter and actor. He was a figure in popular music for over four decades, and was considered by critics and other musicians as an innovator, particularly for his work in the 1970s. His androgynous appearance was an iconic element of his image, principally in the 1970s and 1980s.

Born and raised in Brixton, south London, Bowie developed an early interest in music although his attempts to succeed as a pop star during much of the 1960s were frustrated. "Space Oddity" became his first top five entry on the UK Singles Chart after its release in July 1969. After a three-year period of experimentation, he re-emerged in 1972 during the glam rock era with his flamboyant and androgynous alter ego Ziggy Stardust. The character was spearheaded by his single "Starman" and album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. Bowie's impact at that time, as described by biographer David Buckley, "challenged the core belief of the rock music of its day" and "created perhaps the biggest cult in popular culture". The relatively short-lived Ziggy persona proved to be one facet of a career marked by reinvention, musical innovation and visual presentation.

In 1975, Bowie achieved his first major American crossover success with the number-one single "Fame" and the album Young Americans, which the singer characterised as "plastic soul". The sound constituted a radical shift in style that initially alienated many of his UK devotees. He then confounded the expectations of both his record label and his American audiences by recording the electronic-inflected album Low, the first of three collaborations with Brian Eno. Low (1977), "Heroes" (1977), and Lodger (1979)—the so-called "Berlin Trilogy" albums—all reached the UK top five and received lasting critical praise. After uneven commercial success in the late 1970s, Bowie had UK number ones with the 1980 single "Ashes to Ashes", its parent album Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps), and "Under Pressure", a 1981 collaboration with Queen. He then reached a new commercial peak in 1983 with Let's Dance, which yielded several successful singles. Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Bowie continued to experiment with musical styles, including blue-eyed soul, industrial, adult contemporary, and jungle. Bowie also had a successful, but sporadic film career. His acting roles include the eponymous character in The Man Who Fell to Earth (1976), Major Celliers in Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence (1983), Jareth, the Goblin King in Labyrinth (1986), Pontius Pilate in Martin Scorsese's The Last Temptation of Christ (1988), and Nikola Tesla in The Prestige (2006), among other film and television appearances and cameos.

David Buckley said of Bowie: "His influence has been unique in popular culture—he has permeated and altered more lives than any comparable figure." In the BBC's 2002 poll of the 100 Greatest Britons, Bowie was placed at number 29. Throughout his career, he sold an estimated 140 million records worldwide. In the UK, he was awarded nine Platinum album certifications, eleven Gold and eight Silver, and in the US, five Platinum and seven Gold certifications. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996.

Bowie stopped touring after his 2003–04 Reality Tour, and last performed live at a charity event in 2006. On 8 January 2016, the date of Bowie's 69th birthday, his final studio album Blackstar was released; he died two days later.

Hatti Vatti‘s sound has previously flowed seamlessly between deep dubstep and a minimal, 170-Autonomic sound. Vinyl releases for Mindset and New Moon (or forthcoming releases on 31 Recordings), remixes by Andy Stott, Indigo, Phaeleh and ASC have marked this Polish producer apart for his cinematic take on bass-driven electronic music.

Starting out as DJ Roehrich back in the mid Nineties, Aioaska first worked with rock music. Soon he began to expand his style by experimenting with a wide range of sounds. By then his catalogue encompassed jazz as well as solid metal tunes. The grounds he played on saw him as resident DJ in various clubs of Austria. With diversity remaining an important factor of his creativity, Aioaska introduced himself to psychedelic trance & downbeat in 1998 and, from there on, worked his way through a number of sets, including shows at clubs & parties in Austria, Switzerland, Greece, Croatia & Hungary . Aioaska began producing his own music in 2005. The mission was straightforward and clear: Getting his tunes straight to the dancefloor and let people shake their ass to it.

Solitary Experiments formed in 1994 as a collaboration between Dennis Schober and Michael Thieleman, who had briefly collaborated before as 'Plague'. The following years saw occasional live shows and the release of a couple of demo tapes before the song 'God, Where Are You?' from the 'New Violent Breed' compilation in 1999, which would become a hit in their native Germany as well as Holland and the USA. Their debut album 'Final Approach' was released on Machinery later that year.

A couple of high-profile festival performances in 2000 (including a slot at that years chaotic Wave-Gotik-Treffen) preceeded their second album 'Paradox' in 2001, with their first performances in the USA later that year.

Die Krupps is a German industrial metal/EBM band, formed in 1980 by Jürgen Engler and Bernward Malaka in Düsseldorf.

The band's name translates as "The Krupps" and comes from the Krupp dynasty, one of Germany's main industrial families before and during World War II. In some interviews the band stated that Visconti's 1969 movie The Damned — a depiction of the fictitious German industrial dynasty of the Essenbecks — was the main inspiration.

If asked a question regarding the ideal feedback people would offer when exposed to the CYGNOSIC sound the response would be analogous. Electronic sounds fuelled from a vast range of influences and filtered through an extremely individual touch. A passionate and energetic musical attack functioning in multiple levels ushered by harsh and distorted verbal proclamations with a very conscious view of the world and the human psyche.

Sleetgrout was formed in the end of 2005 and at once actively engaged in concert activity. The project fruitfully experimented with an alive guitar sound, and music Stylistically varied from dark wave to falling in a plane guitar industrial fate with distortion vocal. Gradually style of the project began to take shape in more electronic style, and after small change in team the project has gone assured step in a direction of Dark Electro / EBM.

Claire Elise Boucher (born March 17, 1988), known professionally as Grimes, is a Canadian musician, songwriter, record producer and visual artist.

Boucher released the studio albums Geidi Primes and Halfaxa in 2010, and signed a recording contract with 4AD in 2011. Her third studio album Visions (2012) and its singles "Genesis" and "Oblivion" received widespread critical acclaim; it was hailed as "one of the most impressive albums of the year so far" by The New York Times, was nominated for the Polaris Prize, and received the Juno Award for Electronic Album of the Year. Her fourth studio album Art Angels was released in 2015 and like Visions, it received widespread critical acclaim. Art Angels was nominated for the Alternative Album of the Year and the Recording Package of the Year at Juno Awards 2017.

Grimes' music has been noted by critics and journalists for its atypical combination of vocal elements, as well as an array of influences across electronic, pop, hip hop, R&B, and experimental music.

Gunship (stylised as GUNSHIP) is a British synthwave band formed in 2010 by Dan Haigh and Alex Westaway and later joined by drummer Alex Gingell. Gunship's music has been described as "influenced by the soundtracks of 80s film, television shows, video games & cartoons" and "a neon soaked, late night, sonic getaway drive, dripping with luscious analog synthesizers, cinematic vocals and cyberpunk values, exploding from the front cover of a dusty plastic VHS case which has lain forgotten since 1984."
