Author Topic: UFC 141 - My Prediction For Overeem Vs Brock. (Read 45174 times)

  Here is how the fight will go:

  Brock will bull rush towards Overeem and will be successful in taking him down. Brock is a monster in the first round when he is fresh and he can take anyone down. Imagine having a 300 lbs monster rushing at you at 25mp/h. Also, Overeem is a tall, lanky guy at 6'5, and the taller you are the easier you fall...

  Brock takes him down and is able to hold Overeem down for most of the round but doesen't do any damage due to Overeem's strength which keeps Brock clinched and thus unable to ground-and-pound successfully.

  At round 2, Brock is more tired but tries to take Overeem down again. Overeem hits Brock with several straight jabs to the face as Brock comes in, and as Brock becomes disoriented, Overeem clinches and hits Brock with several knees to the head. Brock tries to take him down again, but Overeem sprawls and clinches with Brock again, hitting him with more knees to the head. As Brock presses forward, Overeem keeps sprawling Brock's takedown attempts, clinching and using knees and elbows. Brock survives round two, but is a mess.

  At round 3, Brock no longer has any wind left to bull rush, so he makes inept attempts at taking Overeem down. Overeem keeps his distance by kicking him in the legs and ribs. Into the round, Brock is exhausted and his strength is gone. Overeem moves in with jabs and Brock collapses onto the ground. Overeem hits him a few more times, the referee realizes Brock can't do anything about it and interrupts the fight. Overeem TKOs Brock.

  My prediction: Overeem wins by 2nd or 3rd round TKO.

  Whether it ends in the second or third round depends on whether Brock can still bull rush Overeem at the beggining of round 2. Probably not. If he can, then he takes the fight to round 3 but then he loses for sure.

Overeem 1st round KO/ref stoppage ( due to better striking )

or

Lesnar 2nd or 3rd round G&P ( due to heart ,determination and better condition)

I would assume both will fight with caution. The fight will start slow.

I think the story of the fight will be Brock's ability to hold Overeem in ground.

Overeem got tired after the first round in the Werdum fight. And werdum aint no brock. Brock will try and TAKE overeem down not lay on the ground waiting.

imo Overeem will be DEAD if it goes into the third. I think he needs to stop brock in the first or early second to have a chance.
And hopefully he doesn't.

Within the first 2-3 min you will probably be able to tell how this fight is going to go.

We don't know that yet ,after taking a beating in the first round with Carwin he came to the 2nd rd very strong ,signs of good condition.

Brock is not very skillful but he has ton of heart ,he doesn't like to lose, that's extremely important in the figthing game.

Brock has always been giant his entire athletic career. He's used to handle himself with that weight. Overeem on the other hand has gained so much muscle in the last several years. It's hard to keep good cardio when you're constantly increasing your body mass.

Werdum fight was a very slow pace fight and Reem was breathing heavy already in the second round.

Gonna be an epic battle.

Brock will rush. Probably circle a little bit first and maybe a slight angle to avoid the knee. That is if overeem even has time to react.

If brock takes overeem down within the first min or so and keeps him there. Overeem will be dead tired in the second round already and his only chance will be a "lucky punch" on brock coming in.
