However the April 2016 report has now been confirmed as a complete hoax and just the latest in a string of fake celebrity death reports. Wow. RIP.

"As TMZ first reported ... Prince was briefly hospitalized in Moline, IL. His private jet made an emergency landing there after 1 AM Friday.
His people told us the 57-year-old had been battling a bad bout of flu.

CHANHASSEN, Minn. (KMSP) - A death is under investigation at Paisley Park in Chanhassen, Minnesota, law enforcement at the scene confirmed to Fox 9's Ted Haller. Paisley Park is the compound where Prince lives, records music and hosts parties and concerts, including one party just a few days ago.

Carver County Chief Deputy Jason Kamerud confirmed a response to a medical call at 9:43 a.m. The crime lab and medical examiner are on scene, but the identity of the deceased is unknown. Law enforcement at the scene said no identification will be released until notifications are made.

Prince, legendary musician, dies at 57
By Elahe Izadi

Legendary musician Prince, 57, died Thursday morning at his suburban Minnesota compound, his publicist confirmed.

“It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning at the age of 57,” the pop star’s publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, said in a statement. “There are no further details as to the cause of death at this time.”

The Carver County’s Sheriff’s Office had confirmed earlier that it was investigating a death at Prince’s Paisley Park complex in Minnesota. But the sheriff’s office didn’t release details about the identity of the person who died or the circumstances.

Prince — a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer and arranger — “was widely acclaimed as one of the most inventive musicians of his era, drawing upon influences ranging from James Brown to the Beatles to Jimi Hendrix,” the Associated Press noted. Born Prince Rogers Nelson, the Minnesota native was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.

Deputies first arrived at his Paisley Park compound at 9:43 a.m. local time, responding to a medical situation, Carver County Sheriff Chief Deputy Jason Kamerud told CBS Minnesota.

Prince was hospitalized last week. His private plane reportedly made an emergency landing in Illinois following concerts in Georgia.

The music legend held a party at Paisley Park on Saturday. He posted a photo early Sunday morning showing a scene from the compound in Chanhassen.

Fellow musicians and entertainers posted condolences on social media shortly after news emerged of Prince’s death.

Am I thinking of someone else or did you say that you thought Michael Jackson was one of the greatest musical talents ever in another thread? There was sort of a rivalry between their fans and hardcore MJ fans tended to lean more towards a mainstream sound. The Purple Rain soundtrack is one of the only albums I've ever heard on which every single track should've been a hit. There was no b-side filler.

That being said, music is just a subjective thing. There are some "legendary" acts that I could never give a fuck about.

Yes, that was me. Maybe it's the songs I've heard on the radio by him. I didn't like the beats but mainly I thought his voice was really, really bad. I'm a big voice guy so I guess my ears don't like that sound for whatever reason. Like with Celine Dion, I can acknowledge that she has an amazing voice but not really into her music. With Prince, I couldn't. Id actually liken him to Elton John to me. Average church choir singer voice to me and never got the hype.
Obviously, I'm in the minority it looks like.

Prince was a recluse. I truly believe he's the one guy that could fake his own death and get away with it. Hell he turned himself into a symbol legally a few years back.lol. The guy literally gets royalties from 100s of songs he's written for Musicians. Even if you don't like his music, he's one of the most talented people to walk the planet.

I don't believe that story for one second. They knew full well how Prince played guitar, they practiced and rehearsed together. Very few people especially nowadays improvise guitar solos especially on songs that aren't theirs.

IMO "they" killed him. 57 year old healthy rich men don't die from the flu.

He's been fighting with the Industry elite for decades. He fought to keep his shit off Youtube etc for years. I believe he gave in a year or so ago. One thing is for certain, he is going to be worth more to other people dead than he was alive. He could have felt the walls closing in on him after what is happening to Bill Cosby and the brotherhood faked his death so he wouldn't have to deal with what is probably coming his way. He's already basically a recluse so it wouldn't be much of a change in lifestyle for him.

Not a fan of a majority of his music, but Prince was unquestionably a formidable talent.

Like MJ, he was a gifted entertainer, but unlike Wacko, Prince wrote, arranged, played several instruments, produced, engineered, etc.

His talent was infinitely more varied and intimidating than Jackson's.

Of course, like the gloved one, he was a weird little fucker. Don't believe he diddled boys, though. So there's that.

Side note: I love the jackass who says, because he doesn't like Prince's voice, he never understood the hype. Same with Elton J. The clown doesn't understand the songwriting component one bit. In the pop world, being such an all-encompassing talent is hugely rare.

I don't believe that story for one second. They knew full well how Prince played guitar, they practiced and rehearsed together. Very few people especially nowadays improvise guitar solos.

MAKE GETBIG GREAT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I have a shitload of Prince bootlegs including live shows and rehearsals. His solo's are largely improvised. But you're right, it's highly unlikely the other guys were unaware of his guitar playing skills.

Almost no one "writes" a guitar solo for a jam of some tune. A player might think of some basic idea of what he wants to do, but unless you're recording a part for a song you wrote that requires a specific melodic component to contribute to a stated theme, electric guitar players rarely "write" leads.

Even a guy like Vai, in studio, probably only has an idea of where his solo will go, and then he plays several run-throughs, and he either pieces parts together or chooses his favourite pass.

Live, on a jam, Prince would essentially improvise his solo.

Prince was treated for a drug overdose 6 days before his death ... multiple sources tell TMZ.
We broke the story ... Prince's private jet made an emergency landing in Moline, Illinois last Friday, hours after he performed in Atlanta. At the time his reps said he was battling the flu ... something we questioned because his plane was only 48 minutes from home before the unscheduled landing.
Multiple sources in Moline tell us, Prince was rushed to a hospital and doctors gave him a "save shot" ... typically administered to counteract the effects of an opiate.
Our sources further say doctors advised Prince to stay in the hospital for 24 hours. His people demanded a private room, and when they were told that wasn't possible ... Prince and co. decided to bail. The singer was released 3 hours after arriving and flew home.
We're told when Prince left he "was not doing well."
We know authorities in Minnesota are trying to get the hospital records from Moline to help determine cause of death.
We have made more than a dozen attempts to reach Prince's reps for comment, but they went radio silent.

Story goes that some of the guys on the stage with him had an attitude about him playing with them. they didn't know how good he was so that solo and the posturing he did was a little "FU" to them.

It was how he flipped the guitar off and walked away at the end, that the disrespectful part.   And they would have had at least an hour rehearsal, so they would have known how Prince was on guitar before the live event.

i can say i was never much of a fan, although i think he was of course very talented.. but in truth,  what had he done since like the 80's and 90's? was he selling out football stadiums and arenas around the world year after year? were his albums (cd's) selling big time around the world for years now? did he have countless hits around the world? he won alot of awards i'll give him that and i guess was influential to other artists, it just seems that he is now being OVER=PRAISED...

it's like he's being seen at the level of elvis, michael jackson... i'm thinking geez, if they give this much media attention to his passing, what in the world are they going to do for someone like MADONNA?... (regardless if anyone thinks she is a whore, untalented, whatever)....

My brother was backstage two years later and they played the clip in the green room. He said the guys in Metallica, Black Sabbath, and Skynyrd were all supervised and impressed with his solo.

Actually his ticket sales for his concerts were always great. Albums sales not so much, but MJ's were shit as well and he didn't do much the last 10 years of his life. Prince and MJ together have won less Grammy's than fucking Kanye West. MJ is nowhere near Prince's level. People don't seem to understand what it takes to produce, arrange, compose and perform an entire album by yourself. MJ was great but musically nowhere near Prince's level.

The correct answer is 1999!  The others were good too, but he did his best work with the Revolution as his band.  I can't wait to hear his posthumous albums.  There was a period when he was writing a song and day and recording a new song a week.  He supposedly has a vault of several albums worth of music that has never been released.  That could be some good stuff.  Bay likey!  8)

We're told Prince was taking painkillers for a hip problem. We're told he had corrective surgery for his hips around 2010.

As we reported, Prince went to his local Walgreens 4 times in the week leading up to his death. We got a photo of Prince in the parking lot of the Walgreens hours before he died. Witnesses say he was pacing and agitated, waiting for someone to bring out his meds.

Indeed. :-\

"Entertainment Tonight" co-host Kevin Frazier said on "CBS This Morning" Friday that Prince had hip replacement surgery in 2010 and also had issues with his ankles.

"People close to Prince tell me he struggled with painkillers due to his hip and ankle issues," Frazier said, noting that for Prince to cancel a performance, as he did this month, "something was drastically wrong."

"The hip and ankle issues were a problem for him for so long," Frazier said, "and for a man who loved to move and dance so much, it really bothered him."

What could the ankle issues have been caused by? His affinity for wearing high heels? Or him playing basketball?

Dancing for hours in high heels, with heavy stage acrobatics, led to his hip problems.

Kai better be careful.  Right babe??

Chillin' listening to Chuck D's radio show. A nice tribute to Prince tonight.  8)

One of His Royal Badness' great underrated songs.  ;)

Lyrics:
One more card and it's twenty two
Unlucky for him again
He never had respect for money it's true
That's why he never wins
That's why he never ever has enough
To treat his lady right
He just pushes her away in a huff
And says 'Money don't matter to night'

Money don't matter to night
It sure didn't matter yesterday
Just when you think you've got more than enough
That's when it all up and flies away
That's when you find out that you're better off
Makin' sure your soul's alright
'Cause money didn't matter yesterday,
And it sure don't matter to night

Look, here's a cool investment
They're tellin' him he just can't lose
So he goes off and tries to find a partner
But all he finds are users (users)
All he finds are snakes in ever color
Every nationality and size
Seems like the only thing he can do
Is just roll his eyes, and say that

Money don't matter to night (don't matter)
It sure didn't matter yesterday
Just when you think you've got more than enough
That's when it all up and flies away
That's when you find out that you're better off
Makin' sure your soul's alright (soul's alright)
'Cause money didn't matter yesterday, (don't matter)
And it sure don't matter to night

Hey now, maybe we can find a good reason
To send a child off to war
So what if we're controllin' all the oil,
Is it worth a child dying for? (is it worth it?)
If long life is what we all live for
Then long life will come to pass
Anything is better than the picture of the child
In a cloud of gas
And you think you got it bad

Money don't matter to night (no, don't matter)
It sure didn't matter yesterday (yesterday)
Just when you think you've got more than enough
That's when it all up and flies away (flies away, flies away)
That's when you find out that you're better off
Makin' sure your soul's alright (make certain that your soul's alright)
'Cause money didn't matter yesterday,
It sure don't matter to night

Prince Was Supposed to Play Ruby Rhod in THE FIFTH ELEMENT

http://nerdist.com/prince-was-supposed-to-play-ruby-rhod-in-the-fifth-element/

With the recent passing of legendary musician—and legendary everything else—Prince, there has been an outpouring of grief, praise, and fond memories from fans and people who were lucky enough to have actually worked with the Purple One. Luc Besson, legendary in his own right as the director of films like Léon: The Professional and Lucy, joined the chorus of the bereaved by not only sending his well wishes, but also pointing out that Prince was originally supposed to play Ruby Rhod in his 1997 mega sci-fi blockbuster, The Fifth Element.

Ruby Rhod as a character makes so much more sense now, right?

Although this fact was reported by sources like io9 and Blastr back in 2013, Besson himself took to Twitter today to send off Prince with a quick salute (“#Prince on Earth, King in Heaven”), as well as a picture of the sketch French fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier originally made for what would have been Prince’s costume had he taken on the part of the funky androgynous radio star with billions of listeners.

Prince was unable to play the part because, as Besson points out, the shoot dates for the film didn’t align with his tour dates. Although according to Gaultier, Prince did see this sketch (which is shown in further detail in the gallery above) in person, but deemed it “too effeminate” (Gaultier’s words) for his taste. There also may have been a language mix up, as Gaultier spoke with a heavy accent, and let’s just say “faux cul” can sound frighteningly disrespectful to somebody who doesn’t speak French.

Although it’s unfortunate we didn’t get even more Prince in our lives, it’s hard to say that The Fifth Element suffered with Prince’s replacement, Chris Tucker. Most would probably agree that Tucker nailed the part of Rhod, delivering an iconic performance as the man who made the Fhloston Paradise females quiver like no other. Except for Prince of course, who could’ve had any heart he wanted while he was here on Earth, and still probably can in whichever paradise he’s now making a bit more purple.

Doctor Who's New Companion Pays a Subtle Tribute to Prince

(https://scontent-lga3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xtf1/v/t1.0-9/13087511_10206732865102375_8611749353284691905_n.jpg?oh=fd85a4f07cb50b7d3728cd16dd96a1f5&oe=57A7D1D5)

Earlier today, during halftime at the FA Cup semi-final match, the BBC revealed the new companion coming to Doctor Who in Series 10 in 2017.

Pearl Mackie will play "Bill," the series' latest companion. She will replace Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald, who exited at the end of Series 9, and joins Peter Capaldi as the Doctor.

...And, with everyone still in shock over the recent passing of pop culture icon Prince, Mackie took it upon herself to honor the artist in her first official publicity photos, as noticed by Hi-Fi Color founder Brian Miller:

That's the interior sleeve to the Purple Rain LP, as pictured above, featured on "Bill's" t-shirt. Well played, Pearl Mackie!

Doctor Who Series 10 will be an exciting time of transition for the series, as it is both the first Series for the new companion, and the final series for showrunner Steven Moffat.

Doctor Who will return for the annual Christmas Special on Christmas Day 2016.

silver spoon there wasnt , there are alot of idiots out there that do not understand true music talent, michael was nothing but a  pedophile that could dance,, all his big hits were written by quincy jones as well.

michael was never  on princes  level as far as a true musician is concerned.

Hell, "Human Nature" was written entirely by Steve Porcaro of TOTO fame. It's well known. Go on YouTube and watch the interviews and listen to Steve's demo, given to Quincy.

A lot of Thriller is TOTO "featuring" Michael Jackson.

As a musician, Prince annihilates MJ.

Jackson has more top tier songs than anyone not named the beatles.

Most not written by him.

He presented well the music: grand videos at a time when the medium was fresh and exciting and that featured his snappy and unique dancing.

Let's not forget the HUGE impact on sales that having Ed Van Halen solo on "Beat It" had. Suddenly rockers were given licence to dig Mike and even buy his record.

(Steve Lukather playing the riff didn't hurt his credibility with musicians and industry types, either.)

Quincy Jones is like Bob Rock or Mutt Lange. He shapes artists and propels them into something FAR, far greater than what they could ever be without him.

Hell, it was Quincy who CHOSE songs for Michael!

Wouldn't doubt it. Guy's played on over two thousand records that are not TOTO or solo efforts. Luke is a freakazoid guitarist. Can sight read music and play almost any style. His chops are elite and his tastefulness and vibrato is legend.

ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons:
It was following the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25th anniversary celebration [in 2009]. They had a two night grand hurrah at Madison Square Garden and I was invited to perform with Jeff Beck. And following that appearance, I found myself back at the hotel and I wandered off in search of some late-night grub and my favorite 24-hour joint was shut down for unknown reasons. I tiptoed across the street to the Tiger Bar. I was just standing at the front and I was approached by a rather large gentleman and he said, ‘You’re wanted at the corner table.’ And there was Prince sitting all by his lonesome. And I gave him a brief tip of the hat and sat down and said, ‘Hey man, it’s so good to see you.’ He said, ‘It’s so good to see you. Let’s talk about guitar playing.’ I said, ‘Why not?’ And in the next two hours we really dove into the depth of his intent, interest and focus toward technique and tone. I left that evening even more mesmerized than I’d previously been, just knowing the sincerity that Prince kept toward his playing, his performing and his all-around showmanship.

He obviously worked with teams of lawyers accountants etc and it's vexing that he would not have an estate plan.  Simply adding beneficiaries to investment accounts protects them from probate.

It will become a feeding frenzy.

Let's not get caught up in the moment.Whether he wrote them or not doesn't change the fact he had more top tier songs than prince, was a better singer, dancer, and had more charisma (Prince had plenty but Jackson was the greatest ever for this),was more popular and sold 3 times the records.Prince was a better at songwriting and playing the instruments.

Absolute legend
wrote tons of hits for other artists
was in his own genre of music and his own style and did it well.
and even if you didnt like his voice, he rocked the guitar as well as anyone.

I thought the era of purple rain was just great, that style the attitude the appreciation of music

Thanks for pointing this out.  This is what I've tell my pro-MJ friends for decades.  First off, MJ only got his lofty preach because CBS Records threatened MTV they would take all their artists off the channel if they didn't play him.  Then, showing his Thriller video ad nauseam over and over, every half hour.  Until they produce MJ zombie fans. Who only wanted MJ every day, all the time.

The truth is Prince was the first to be showcased by MTV, before Jackson.  "Off The Wall" is a far superior record than Thriller.   Prince produced more music in a year, than MJ produced in a decade.  Prince was pioneering music forward, while MJ was being a reckless loon.

When MJ died, I shed no tears. When Prince died, I felt like I lost a little bit of me.  I'm still in shock.  :(

Taken as a final product, if you mixed jacko and princes song catalogue together and picked a top 5 between them, I doubt a prince song makes the top 5.Im sure there have been millions of people who could play and instrument better than Jackson, or compose/write a song, nobody gives a fuck about them because they didn't entertain.

It's silly to compare Prince's work to MJ's. When you listen to a Prince song you know he's responsible for everything you're hearing. Yes MJ wrote songs too (half of them were co-written), but there was a lot of work done by others which determined what the final product would sound like. Songs written, arranged, composed, produced and performed by Prince can not be compared to (co)written MJ songs.

(I play several instruments, write, compose, produce, etc) In terms of the Prince vs. Michael debate, I will say that while Michael was a supertalented dancer and a creative giant in his own right, he was no Prince. Prince was THE MUSICAL GENIUS.

How many times have you seen him in concert?
How many Prince albums/CDs do you have?
What would you say is his best compilation?  Best song?
What was his best back up band?
Who was his best protégé?

Do you have any music available on iTunes?
