its from 1999. Despite what ND says, 1996 was not his best overall physique. He was ripped (but his quads lacked deep cuts but had striations), but in 98/99 he was just as ripped but also had more thickness, size and fullness. HIs quads were deeply etched.
I prefer the deep etched look to the smoother but striated look.

I agree somewhat. Maybe i'm looking at that 99 pic and being fed inspiration. That physique is more 'supermarket' standard, if you know what i mean. i.e. you would'nt be THAT suprised, to see a physique of that standard waking around a major city supermarket.
The other pictures on the other hand. Huge and cut, no dout, but its not a day to day livable body imo.
