Not to knock on soldiers, but most of their training is retarded. You only need a fraction of what they make you do in military.

Since soldiers do all kinds of jobs, I don't know. Now, there are some specialized jobs for some folks where strength and endurance are helpful, but I don't look at today's bejeweled-thong, 45" waist behemoth and think "endurance".
Maybe being the guy that hauls the 155mm shells from the truck to the arty emplacements? As long as the truck is pretty close and there is a mess tent nearby.
Maybe being the jamoke that has to hump a SADM 20 km to an enemy bridge. Bring plenty of Jack3d!

But today's pros are weak as fuck and don't have endurance. People are impressed by bodybuilders (I'm referring to Rony Rockel) doing 180kg front squats when literally hundreds of 18 yo chinese oly lifters can do that.

Someone will soon post that photo of Chic in his soldier get up photo shoot.

A soldier needs endurance out in combat. That's something a steroid bloated wonder is lacking.
-
you don't really need that much muscle to be a soldier, just bodyweight and endurance exercises. as long as you can hump a 100 lb pack on long hikes you're good.
the nazis actually experimented with testosterone during ww2 but scrapped the project, amphetamines were cheaper and their effectiveness was more immediately apparent. but i could see how there would be several uses, namely more strength to carry more weight, especially useful for machinegun crews. also more endurance due to raised RBC. also improved blood clotting in case of being wounded.
but yeah in our current warfare doctrines, there wouldn't be much use for bodybuilders. only thing i could see is some kind of heavily-armored, high caliber super soldier type deal, but that would require different technology than what we have.

Bodybuilders are always fatigued and they must carry always a small suitcase with their ampouls and seringes problably pre-filled because of the un-sterile environments.
Plus when they hear the word "SHOOT" they believe is trenbolone time! ;D ;D
