REP Adjustable Dumbbells
« on: April 25, 2024, 01:33:20 AM »
For those with little space, seems like its affordable for most (while 900.00 is far from "cheap" its also not a ton).
120's.

I got some Powerblocks recently for my home gym (90's) for small money (Marketplace) and I really like the feel of them.
(Like Donnie Thompsons "Center Mass Bells" very good feel/balance). Never thought I would like them until I tried them at the gym.

I was thinking about getting some of these for my office gym I’m building out. Seems like a real space saver.

I had a pair similar to those ( no name brand from Amazon). I noticed if you didn't spin the dial correctly the plate wouldn't catch and it would be stuck in the tray.

Plus, you have to baby those, since they have plastic pieces that easily break.

$900 seems ridiculous.

They are all high priced.. Powerblocks new are like $1200.00, those Canadian ones in Coops video are like $2400.00.
For my budget, I would pay the $900.00 no problem, if I were to setup a small home-gym without much room.
Those, a rack, a barbell w/ plates is all thats needed. (All of that other stuff you find used/cheap).

So overall, not really a high price (total) for lifetime use. (Compared to the yearly 500.00 gym membership).
I have no mortgage, car payments, credit-cards or any debt at all, so spending that on fitness would not be unreasonable to me..

$900 seems ridiculous.

They are replacing ~1710 pounds of weight.

So that is like .52 cents a pound which is very cheap for new dumbbells.

If you bought a new dumbbell regular set you could pay up to 3x that.

LOL.

Let me put it this way - every now and then Walmart dumps inventory on their CAP dumbbells and kettlebells.  Great deals can be had.

However, at their best deal, you get the .52 MAYBE, but not often (maybe once?).

You prop those up vertically and squat on them.

$900 seems ridiculous.

When compared to the cost of Hex dumbbells making up the same weight dumbbells it's cheap.

We have both of the BowFlex sets in our home gym, the smaller ones go up to 50 (actually 52.5 or something) and the bigger ones up to 90 lbs.  I like the smaller ones but the bigger ones the handle is weird, doesn't feel right.

I have two sets of adjustables.  One goes from 11 to 55 lbs and the other is 5 o 25 lbs .  I have regular dumbells up to 95 lbs but I honestly can't lift them out of the DB rack anymore.  My co-workers gave them to me but I doubt they will ever move again, dammit.  I tired to pick up the 60s for shrugs but could not move 'em.

I know that I am fortunate to even be here so no complaints, just my normal bitching.  ;D

I might have to grab those so I never have to step foot in a gym again.1300.00 for 125s seem worth it to avoid the tripod crew. I do question the durability and safety. I never drop dumbbells but having 125s doing incline presses seems like they might fall apart. Not sure I trust them. And how often can you change weights until they loosen up and rattle. Do they feel solid and tight? It seems weird to lift a dumbbell with a bar or on each side.

You can get the powerblocks with the 90#  expansions for 500 new when woot runs specials ( $220 for the blocks and the expansion sets are $99-120 depending on the sale)

That said these reps look sweet!

I don’t trust any of these adjustable dumbbells. Too many small moving parts. Something is bound to eventually break.
