One could say that, that is a very hedonistic, if not selfish viewpoint.
Tomorrow is not granted, but yesterday is what made us. I see tons of people who live foe the moment, and they tend not to be the happiest people---thet play that role. But, inside they are broke, running on empty---
I knew a woman who did a sextape, just because...she is out of 100+K job because of it. She was one of those live for today type people, and didn't think that it mattered as "everybody has done a sextape".

Well, now look where you are.

Why can't people be good just for the sake of it? Why have they always got to have a reward or an alterior motive i.e....to get into heaven/be on "God's" Christmas card list. A truly genuine person would do it without the propostition of a "paradise in heaven" etc.

Johnny, I don't know you, and I don't think weve ever conversed (here) but please use a cap for "God" so that he is not thrown in the mix with other "gods" ~ those can be anything, usually an idol of sorts. I'm asking you this with all respect.

God isn't asking for you to be perfect by giving up drugs, smoking, etc., ~ those things will come naturally when you do two things:

1) Read his word

2) Obey it. He just wants you to love him.

And you are correct, there is no promise of tomorrow. Today has enough drama to even start worrying about tomorrow, besides the fact that all the worry in the world will NOT change how tomorrow plays out.

This probably isn't the place for these conversations, but even Ron has alluded to the fact that we are getting pretty messed up these days.

The world is getting a lot more intense than its ever been. Companies rise and fall with the speed of internet access. We are multi-tasking like never before~ we are fast-tracked, high tech present and living on adrenalin and wits.

It's time for a change. I can feel it in my bones.

I pray it all works out for you. Take time from your busy relentless day to talk to him and find out how you can work together. I am not a righteous man by any means, but I too am trying. I thought "gratitude" towards God would work best, but humans suck at being grateful.

It's all about unconditional love. We can't do it, but he can.

And then, we get back into the "real world" (the one we live in) - it's rough, but worth it in the end. I feel this in my heart and soul, but there is NO writing on the wall (sad to say) ~ its called "faith"

Awesome post brother. I just got the chills felt a lump in my throat. I don't know why people like Adonnis hate on God so much. What is so bad about what God teaches. Love thy neighbor! Love your enemy! Show people compassion! The bible gives great guidlines on how to live your life in a righteous good way. The bible has great guides on how to have a great marriage. Why are people so against that. God is compassionate. God gives people hope when everything else around them crumbles. Adonis I hope you get saved one day.

selfish=self=good

misused word
Selfish=lonely

Many selfish people are narcisists. And that brings loneliness. Usually selfish people want attention from others for themselves, and if you seeking for attention from others, or GOD, you are viewing them as being separate from you, therefore you are coming from a position of alienation. Basically, if you seek attention or admiration from others for yourself (selfish) or trying to manipulate or control others for your gains (selfish), you are seeing yourself separate from them. Thus, this is karma of loneliness.

Nothing truly exists independently or separate from you, there is no "you". And that's why selfish people have a emptiness to them.

A couple of posts ago you were advocating for the beating to the death of Sean Penn.  Very Christ and Godlike of you eh?

God doesn't expect you to be perfect otherwise he wouldn't of designed us to have emotions and feelings. I would never beat anyone to death unless it was self defense or someone hurt or killed a family member or loved one.

You don't have a fucking clue what god expects..

Fucking christian dumb asses... You make up a god that is impossible to understand (when it suits you) and then a minute later explain his expectations (when it suits you)

But couldn't it be true that in some cases, Christians live happier, have more confidence, have better discipline, are healthier and have more success thanks to their belief system? I think it helps a lot of people.

I`ve watched everyone in my family die.  You`ll get used to it my friend.  In a long enough time line, all of us will be on the chopping block.

That's rough, man. I'm sorry to hear it.

"Good" comes from God

"Evil" comes from Satan

It's about that simple. Light shines on both the good and evil. It's easy to understand why one might be confused on the issue.

There is no "gray area" so don't try to be 'on the fence...'

From what you have written, your family missed the genetic lottery, better live it up while you can.

If you really want to know "what get's me through the night" (which you don't, but I'm gonna share it with you anyway) is a prayer.

It goes something like this: "Dear God, I'm going to sleep now. This is when Satan comes into my room and climbs into my head and starts jacking with me. When I am sleeping, I am vulnerable to him, so if you wouldn't mind Sir, could you please keep him out of my room and my head until the morning light? I can deal with him better when I'm awake and more able to fight. Thank You"

It works every time.

You don't have to be righteous to ask for help.

Tough guys here haven't hit the bottom....

Sounds original, DYS. Is that your own?

I always end up the day with a simple, "Thank You!" for avoiding the rush hour traffic, winning a few bucks in a couple of the casinos, the great meal I had earlier this afternoon, and for meeting one or two people this past month who did nothing other than convince me that there are still good people out there who strive to make this world a better place one step at a time.

Sometimes I even mention a GetBigger who needs some celestrial attention, but those private pleas appear to go un-noticed.
