Title: 61 Illegals Found Hiding In Big Rig Near Border...
Post by: 240 is Back on May 05, 2008, 05:37:06 PM
Authorities said they stopped the semi truck in East County at a checkpoint near the Kitchen Creek Road exit on Interstate 8 on Saturday at about 9:15 p.m. Border Patrol officials said they interviewed the driver, who admitted being an illegal immigrant.

Border Patrol agents brought in a K-9 to search the truck, and officials said they found 61 illegal immigrants hiding behind bales of cardboard. Investigators said they believe the immigrants entered the trailer through a trap door in the floor of the trailer.

Officials said they seized the big rig and will prosecute its 29-year-old driver for immigrant smuggling.

Happy Cinco De mayo!

Very true, this country is on the verge of a depression.  30 million illegals in this country is going to create some bad social problems when the economy completely takes a shit.

Both parties support open borders, just one more step towards the North American Union i suppose.  :-X

TJ is a bad example.  go further in. Some decent areas.   Anyway all our manufacturing jobs have left overseas and borders because of greed and profit.  The govt allows it and shut alot of americans out of work where there forced to work in the service industry.  this is a no win position beause we will not be able to compete with india and mexico.................. ....some shit is gonna hit the fan soon.

Excellent points, watch Lou Dobbs on CNN and he says the exact same thing.

That is because BOTH parties are in the fucking pockets of Big Business.

The MAJORITY of America wants to seal the borders-that is why that scam immigration bill did NOT pass.

Americans are not going to put up with the outsourcing of the best manufacturing jobs, while Bill Gates imports $15/hour engineers to work for Microsoft, under the bogus claim that there are not enough Americans, or the biggest fucking lie Big Business has "illegal immigrants only do the work Americans won't", fucking flat out lie. 99% of all construction jobs in So Cal are Mexican now-working for $8 an hour. Americans cannot compete with that, and it is not good for the country.

Our economy is now a service economy. Deal with it!

Most of the manufacturing jobs lost will never come back. And why should they? You can it's good for certain workers, but what about the cosumer having to pay higher prices? Outsourcing isn't what's wrong here. It's a weak dollar, too much spending on the part of the federal government, and politicians running this great country into the ground.

You want to point out problems? Look at how labor unions are destroying the Detriot auto-makers.. I don't see any complaints about those assholes.

I could care less about big oil. They're making money because of high demand. Are you idiots saying they shouldn't be able to make money? Blame idiotic Americans for driving hummers and trucks. Think how much gas we'd save if one out of a few SUVs were replaced by a 30mpg car.

Remember, there were still people who lived in mansions during the Great Depression, while americans starved to death.

when enough people stop buying $7 lattes, starbucks closes 200 stores.  Suddenly you have 10,000 people who can't feed their kids.

Moose, I laugh at your posts, you're fun to read, but a recession is happening.  Not the end-of-world type tha alarmists say, but oil is $120 per barrel.  You said you LIKE paying extra for oil, right?  That would put you in the category of pilferage policy apologist.

Sure, there are victims.

But the spirit that built this great country can still be harbored by anyone.

No, no...I meant ti intimate that the more taxes I pay, the more I am making.

And, 240, you know that we are showing growth, albeit very low growth.

And, I know you know that when there is growth, there can be no recession.

That is total BULLSHIT!

The US Governemnt statistcs on most economic indicators are totally fudged.

You’re walking around stoned all day. The economic statistics fed to you by the government are concocted to induce euphoria. For one thing, inflation is grossly understated. Because of these artificially low reported inflation rates, the Federal Reserve can continue lowering interest rates without incurring the wrath of people worried about the dollar and excessive credit creation. The artificially low interest rates in turn lead to commodity speculation, one of the main reasons for global food shortages and rioting.

You're citing minimal domestic growth - essentially stagnant.

I'm referring to the danger that comes with the buck unraveling should oil states un-peg it.

and when the lower 1/3 of the USA loses their shirt one month, they're gonna get pissy and mess up our day.

Dude, I am honetly not scared.

I have been very broke before.

Now, happily, I am not.

I am just the opposite of what you opine...

I am not scared...in fact, I almost border on carelessness.

My philosophy is this:

If I am not going to die, then there really is no bother.,

And, from what we have been discussing, at least...well...nobody is gonna die.

Living hard is no big deal.

My situation, to be fair, is different than most.

You know 240 I have mentioned that I am successful in my profession, and have never married or had children.

And, I don't wish to be cavalier in the face of others who facing financial and other challenges.

Its just that so many forget about their own personal abiliteis and powers.

Quit depending on the governement.

Self reliance is what I am ALL about

When has there NOT been global food shortages and rioting?
Never, that's when.

Youre misinformed.

A number of factors have led to a true shortage this year in many areas.  Riots in haiti/egypt.  Many countries freezing all exports - hoarding it for themselves in the coming months.  Brazil, arg, rus included.

Domestically, costco and sams have limits for the first time in rice, oil, flour buying.

Asia will be hit with another hook - the cyclone in burma just wiped the rice crop days after being planted.

a lot of people are very worried about the next year.  UN leaders ordered world field be opened to solve the crisis by 2010.  But winter 2008 is going to suck on their side of the world.  And that means peopel here will hoard it and ship it over there for a profit.  And then we have shortage, panic buying, etc.

bad.  Very bad potential.  Saying "it's always been like this" shows you aren't aware of what's happened in the last month.  Many people worldwide are very fearful supplies will run short in 6 months.

I think it's devalued thanks to his policies, but I think the next leader will rectify it a bit.

Face it, bush and friends are running up the tab before they leave office.  Things will be hanging on by a thread... borroing from the Obama admin to send out these economic checks was hilariously evil lol...

but the new prez will tighten the pursestrings, if only to prevent a crash on his watch.

You are what you THINK you are.

The buck won't unravel HERE.  Our spending is constant and income is relatively fixed.  We're good.

however, if other nations keep selling off the dollar, it could get ugly.  That prick in Iran telling OPEC to drop the dollar - that would essentially double the price of everything on every shelf in USA.  (Or cut your buying power in half).

That's why people worry.  Idiots overseas trying to sabotage the buck - it would totally mess up our way of life.

What if the buck DOES NOT unravel?

You are what you THINK you are.

The dollar has lost 50% OF IT'S VALUE in the last year.

It has already unraveled, not a question if it will, we are past that point.

I'm usually an optimist. But with our middle class vanishing, the invasion of low educated workers, not just manufacturing jobs but good jobs like engineering being moved to Asia, falling dollar, oil over $100 a barrel - quadrupled in price in 4 years - and most damaging our national debt and trade deficit, we are in for more than a slowdown.
We can't fix potholes in San Diego while in China they are building cities. Our bridges are collapsing and we can't fight fires in suburban neighborhoods while Dubai builds underwater hotels and gigantic man made islands.
Just look around. There is ample evidence that we are witnessing the most rapid transfer of a nations wealth in history. And America is not going to get back on top buying oil from the Middle East and everything else from China.
While at the same time letting our country get invaded and looted by another nations poor.

Did you know that...ummm...not sure...it was Plato or Socrates who was complaing, many moons ago, of how world would crumble because the youth back then were going to pot.....

well, the alarmists will always tell you the sky is falling.  they're usually wrong.

Oil at $120 per barrel - that is very tangible and very scary.  It was $19 per barrel when Bush took office.  It has gone up 500% and at this rate will be 600% by the time bush retires.

Oil at $150 per barrel when he leaves.  Suppose it keeps climbing?  I dont think you understand all the ramifications both here and globally.

Something that is NOT addressed by the Liberal media (have I said lately what the least trusted profession now is? No, not lawyers, car salesmen...its reproters and so-called journalists...yes, the media...big surprise there)....is WHERE DO YOU THINK THE MIDDLE EAST GETS MUCH OF THEIR FOOD?

Oil VS Food

Food wins

Well, my SOLUTION is that we Americans will employ the same ingenuity we always have to continue on as the finest country in the world

Anbd c'mon man...China? Dubai? They are f---ing prehistoric...I don't care what progress they are making....if they are...they are only hundreds of years behind us in too many ways

No, I am not very worldly, I admit that.

I tryu to concenbtrate on things I can control directly.

I strive not to burn energy on cloudy thinking.

Just understand that we have tremendous leverage against so many who some seem to think are out pacing us.

china is a decade away from being a superpower whom we owe $5 tril, with deeds to our property as collateral.  Their population is getting very educated and they have a new iran/rus alliance that makes them untouchable.

Folks, this country is being looted of it's assets. It is being destroyed.

1) The US Dollar has lost more than 40% its buying power since 2000. It traded for about 120 on the US Dollar Index in 2000. It went below 72 yesterday. It is headed lower.

2) More than 7 TRILLION dollars of wealth has evaporated from the world's balance sheets SINCE 1/1/08. How much is 7 TRILLION? Is that a significant amount?

3) Gold has gone from around $250 per ounce in 2000 to around $1,000 per ounce since that time. Gold is a lousy investment, isn't it? It doesn't pay interest. You could be getting 3% interest from a CD!

4) Oil averaged about $28 per barrel in 2000. Can you say $130 per barrel?

5) Silver traded between $4 and $5 in 2000. It is now trading for more than $20 per ounce.

6) Real estate is doing GREAT, isn't it? Real estate always goes up, doesn't it? Actually, it went down during the Great Depression, and we might be about to get another Depression. How will real estate do if that happens?

7) The Dow hit a then all time high of about 11,717 in January 2000. On the day I wrote this, it closed just above 12,145. WOW! About 428 points since January 2000! BUY AND HOLD! Stocks always go up! Actually, they don't. People who bought the Dow in 1929 had to wait until the 1950s for their portfolios to get back to where they had been in nominal terms. People who owned gold mining shares during the 1930s got rich.

8 ) Most bonds are yielding NEGATIVE real rates of return when inflation is considered.

9) The total monetary supply is being expanded by over 16% per year in the US.

10) The Dow has just about completed a “head and shoulders” pattern. Technical analysts normally regard this as a very bearish sign. I'm not a technical analyst. I'm a fundamentals guy. The fundamentals are crappy as well!

11) The Fed has announced that it is going to loan the bankers at least 200 BILLION dollars within the next month in order to “inject liquidity” into the system. In exchange for this, the Fed will accept a bunch of CDOs and other insane “investments” held by the banks as “security” for the loans. I don't think that the Fed will actually make the banks pay anything back. The Fed will create more billions out of thin air when the current rescue plan fails. The loans will “revolve” into outer space!

12) The Fed creates all its “money” out of thin air. It isn't backed by anything of value.

13) Inflation is a monetary phenomenon caused when central banks and their member banks (through the fractional reserve system) increase the supply of currency relative to the available goods and services. This causes prices to rise.

14) Our government and its “information organs” such as the BLS are LYING to us about the real rate of inflation and money creation.

15) Most people have not done ANYTHING at all to protect themselves from the evil policies that are robbing the middle class of what little wealth it has.

Today they have a SURPLUS of $1 tril.  We have a $9tril deficit.
They are rebuilding and grabbing resources all over the world.  They have a ton of oil and their industry is back.  They're very scary, and Putin/Bush just started the cold war 2 with this missile defense mess.

Simple ABC's of self reliance and becoming financially free.

What, no mention of the Chinese demographic time bomb looming on the horizon? 1 billion plus people that have plenty riding on government welfare programs, pensions, assistance etc. Remember, although they are humming along economically China has welfare responsibilities to its people, most of whom still live in poverty in the interior of the country. Although the US will eventually be faced with its 60 trillion dollar unfunded liabilities that no-one seems to want to even acknowledge, the Chinese situation will be worse. Although their government and society is still "controlled" i.e. the party leaders and PLA officers don't need to get re-elected, I'm sure they will have an easier time sorting it all out.

You know that DEPRESSION is so rampant in Russia that folks are not having kids?

Also, you want to bring business and capital flows back to the USA? Drop the corporate tax rate to somewhere in the low 20's. It's to expensive to do business here compared to other places. 35% is way to high, no wonder jobs and manufacturing are leaving to other countries. It doesn't help that you have 2 Dem candidates vilifying business and corporations for making money and out-sourcing....well no shit! Take a look at tax rates and incentives comparatively world-wide, the U.S is not as far ahead economically as we once were so business has other choices now.

Ok, here it is. Most of Mexico is poor and many parts are severly oppressed, there little jobs and if you do have a job, it's barely enough to feed yourself let alone a family and top it off with basically a corrupt government on the local level. Who cares if Mexico has less debt, if it were so great then why are so mant fleeing to here? The US will always have debt thats a fact, so all this bitching about how high our national debt is, is bullshit. My personal feeling is, if you don't like it and keep comparing us (where you live) then feel free to move out.

BTW, they may just have less debt because they put it back in to rebuild their own country. The only places that are half way normal are Mexico City, Cabo, Puerto Viarta.........the tourist attractions. But very little if nothing for their infrastructure.

That part is nonsense.  Borrowing $9 tril from foreign banks, and using our roads and nat'l parks as collateral is very dangerous.  It means that chinese kids that haven't been born yet have a stake in your social security money before your kid does.  Think about that.  our kids will work their whole lives and some chinese rugrats owns the money they pay into social security.

Can you defend that?  I should move because I don't want our kids' $ going to foreign banks?  Wow.... YOU sound like the lib, buddy ;)

#1-HALF of Mexico's 110 million people live in POVERTY.

#2- Debt is bullshit???? Dude you don't know what the fuck you're talkign about. Debt is destroying this country. Do you spend 20% of your income on credit card debt service??? That is what the US is doing right nowand debt is BAD-not good.

You sound like some Bear Sterns investment banker talking about the virtues of the free market and how regulation kills it-then when you go BK from 30-1 leverage you run to the feds for a $30 billion $$$ bail out. Private profits with socialized risk. Typical welfare queen bullshit.

Get a clue.

First off, 65% of the Fortune 500 pay NO CORPORATE INCOME TAXES at all-zero. 95% pay less than 5% of revenue in corporate taxes-so big business does not pay corporate taxes. Bet you did not knwo that.

But assuming the corporate tax rate should be lower-fine-then takle away the corporate liability shield and make share holders personally liable for all liabilites-two way street.

If I put $1 mil into pesos, and $1 mil into dollars, in 2000.

Today I would have $600k in dollars, and $1.2 mil in pesoes.

Classic,  240.....hard to argue that. ;D

the solution is not a lib or a neo-con one.   It is to destruct NAFTA and other unions with other countries.   If the big corps were not allowed finacially, to destroy our jobs by going overseas, then theyd be forced to work with labor unions to remedy the situation.   It would balance out for all.   As it is....Lets say Im CEO of ABC and I have 10,000 union workers demanding a pay raise and they strike.   I can tell you to fvck off and go over seas to make a boatload of profit........where did it get you???  Nowhere because i can do it.

What if i was forced to give HUGE severnce packages to you before i left???????  That might make me change my mind, see...

You're joking, right? ::)

This country is far from bankrupt. We are still the worlds only superpower, with the most powerfull military. We have by far the best healthcare in the world. We also have better technology than any other country in the world. The reason we are in tough times right now is because we are paying for a war in the middle east. This country went through the same thing back in the early 90's with the first Persian gulf war. This country's economy is an economy based on emotion. If the media started pumping out stories on how great the economy is and times are getting better, people would start spending money again.

That is a BIG reason, but not the only reason. We have been runnign HUGE budget deficits the last 25 years, with the exception of a few years in the 90's......

Spending money does nothing unless youa re producing and selling goods....

I agree with you.

However, what this country is going through right now is good. It's only going to make the economy stronger in the long run. It's made the largest corporation in the world, which is the US Government, take a look at what is wrong with this country's financial system, and fix it. I hope.

The days of banks raping the middle class with high ass interest rates will be over.
