I think it says they're both bullshitting for their own reasons. She's got a book to sell, he's got a public image to maintain. Have they been hanging for years, or is that a singular photo? How many people do you know who hang out with their ex?
Don't get me wrong man. Arnold has accomplished a lot, but I wonder if he reflects on the directions he could have gone instead. Maybe he doesn't.
I'd be afraid to exclude everyone whom I cared for but who didn't serve my ambition for fear that I'd find myself surrounded by uncaring strangers one day, which is my perception of Arnold's situation with the Shriverbot et al. I just wonder if he ever feels that way. Success is nice, but it's pursuit should have its limitations, for purely selfish reasons. The 'ol "reap what you sow" and "careful what you wish for" bullshit.

This does resound.
Mike Katz and I were judging Ken Cassel's Women's Extravaganza in the Meadowlands a few years ago.
We were resting in a few of the hotel rooms when Mike got a call on his cell phone.
I was reading and not paying attention.
When Mike got off the phone, he said, "Hey that was Arnold."
Throughout the day, he kept wondering why Arnold had called.
Ultimately, he realized it was a social call. "That call lasted 8 minutes...and all we did was BS about the old days. He didn't mention a project or that he needed my help in any way."
Mike ultimately realized that Arnold remembers the TRUE friends he had (including Mike)
from back in the day, and that most of the people he is surroiunded by today want him for furthering their own causes.
