Naw, Richard comes in even when the topic is not him. from what i read, he's doesn't have the time to post much.
Damm, I tried all morning to find the link to the other thread where I read that he was done.
But anyway, it wasn't him that posted, but it sounded like that someone knew him. So, who knows for sure until we hear from Richard.
the post read something like this: "Richard Jones officially is retiring from competitive bodybuilding to pursue other avenues of his life and to secure his future". The guy obviously has his sights on his future. At 31-32 years old, he only has 7-8 years left give or take a year or two. THEN WHAT? As far as I'm concerned, he's doing the right thing.
I mean come'on guys...do you blame the guy? what's left in bodybuilding? the athletes kill themselves (literally and sometimes "others") just to get shafted at a show because of politics or whatever. prime example is Bob Chick winning the masters over what we all saw was much more complete and better structured than him. But we already talked about that.
I personally love bodybuilding but i'd rather keep my day job than try and compete for pennies on the dollar. for it (BBing) being a "professional sport", the salary SUCKS!
Look at it, Weider for example pays their athletes what $20-40K a year! Then if they have a supp. company as a sponsor, that's another what...$30K? all while the athlete is busting his or her ass and being exploited like a bunch of circus midgets? I don't blame any athlete seeking and putting max effort into their future by school or working at a job that one can retire on. BBing has NO med benefits or retirement plan. No 401K, no comp time, etc...
Bottom line = BBing has NO future benefits.
