maybe I don''t like heavy rowing and chin-ups ? ;)

Nah always did some form of heavy rows and was deadlifting most of the times but I ignored chin-ups for far too long. Since I've been focusing on chin-ups my lats have improved quite a lot. Could barely do a wide-grip chin-up half a year ago, now I'm up to 12 reps.
