TA, Give some consideration to the Epson Home Cinema 5030UB 1080p 3D 3LCD Home Theater Projector priced at $1,999 is among the best under $2,000.

It also is 3D capable and you can actually save 99 cents (!) if you purchase it through Amazon Prime.

I think that they mail it to you free of charge.

The info regarding this EPSON is based based on discussions only as I have yet to see one in operation.

Add another 2,000 to 4,000 for the Bose Theater Sound System and a couple  of those "chairs" that move in sync with the screen and you can make a fortune by opening up your front door for the neighbors and selling popcorn.

Great site, Narcis! First time I've see it.

TA, Don't forget that the seats are also of prime importance and the latest and best seat in the house is motion synched.

And once your theater is all set up, you might want to consider going into the movie production business.

Here is your best start in that direction .....

Stunt, is that one of those Red cameras they use in Hollywood for the production of HD films?  I remember reading something about those a few years ago.

As for home theater, I used to own a DLP TV and would still have them if they were produced anymore.  I prefer DLP having watched a few films in 3D in theaters that used DLP.  I really wanted a 70" Mitsubishi HD DLP but they quit selling them.  There is now a push on toward Ultra HD and I'm still happy with my 3D Samsung 48" HDTV so I will not upgrade right now.  Same with Dolby Atmos.

I have "height channels" on my Onkyo receiver and don't notice much improvement using them.  I mostly listen to music now and that via a 40 year old Sony receiver and 2.1 speaker set up.  Current favorites are Jonathan Schwartz' "Jonathan Channel" out of NYC Public Radio and Vermont Public Radio's Jazz station.

EL, to the best of my knowledge the chairs 'react' to the on-screen-audio, so it's a "YES" to your question.

SCOTT, I can't respond to your technical questions or commentaries but I do know little bit (a very little bit) about one model of the RED camera as there is one in the family and I have held it in my hands on a number of occasions until someone says,.... "Hey, You! Gimme that!"

And from what I am hearing .. the RED is the camera of choice among the majority of motion picture producers today.

Go to RED.com and yu can see the names of the hundreds of motion pictures shot with a "RED".

I'm looking forward to the following two which will be released soon .....

Stunt, that's the camera I am talking about.  I've been to their site as a friend is in the business too.  He's a voice actor. I saw the previews for the new Tarzan film.  Tooooo much CGI.  It looked "weird".  Maybe it will be smoothed out in time for opening.

I have the classic "Tarzan and his Mate" on laser disc with the nude swimming scenes of Jane (her double, actually).  Great flick although it never really followed the books.  Burroughs is the father of fantasy/sci-fi writing.
