Post by: Meso_z on June 15, 2014, 03:05:11 AM
Any running techniques and tips? Except from "just run".

How fast can you run half mile?

I recently ran a 1/2 mile on a track. I did not time myself. But I was spent when I finished. It was then that I realized that I needed to start doing more endurance training.

I've put a lot of effort into becoming a better runner over the past year and a half. If there's one thing I could go back and change it would be starting this a long time ago.

The biggest factor for me has been good shoes. Ditch the cool looking Nikes for something better. You can go get tested for free and they will tell you what to get.

Running has allowed me to loosen up on the diet and still stay shredded all year round.

Why "run?" if you want to get fit get in da cage.

Do you just run as in on the street or do you run trails or do any kind of obstacle runs?

And how many want to do that?... not many.

If you're only training for half of a mile to one mile, running shoes will make a difference but they won't be as critical as if you were logging a lot of miles. Still, I'd recommend you go to a local running store where they watch you walk to determine what type of running shoe will work for you. They'll cost $80-120

Buy yourself a stop watch. Find a track or a trail with distance markers. Divide your "competition" distance by four:
.5mi(~800meters) will be 200m
1mi will be 400m

Warm up jog for about eight minutes. Then run each of these splits 20% faster than your goal time. For example, if your goal time for a mile is 6min, run each 400m/.25mi at 72 seconds instead of your "race time" goal of 90 seconds. Obviously start at a pace better suited to where you are right now, and then adjust as necessary.

This is a good sample workout
