Been sober for two months drunk as shit right now. It gets better, not only have I relasped but my closest friend I found out tonight has a drinking problem worst than mine. :D
-
u suck
drink ever once in a while ...but dont overdo it.
-
yeah, i find 1-2 merlots, once or twice a week, and there's no craving to drink, ever.
It's when I say "I'm never going to drink again" that it becomes some sort of forbidden fruit.
-
Beer, and alcohol for the most part taste like shit. Never understand the appeal to drinking alcohol. Dont understand how people think it tastes good.

Once you have a really good beer or alcohol you will understand it.

Well, I live in America, so that may explain it.

Hope you're enjoying some 190 Proof Tennessee white whiskey. 8)

The whole rubik's' cube solution is to cut back using reverse psychology or something,

I drink every weekend. Beer, Tequila, Scotch, Bourbon, whatever.
Clean out all week long. Someday I will quit this cycle. (And just drink full time) 8)
Kidding (I hope)..

Get some new ones.

He's a first cousin too. So I think it's more of the genetic factor, we don't drink together as a general rule. Anyhow most folk in my family got booze problems. We've always been drink until you black out type of people. No matter how often we drink.

I think everyone is predisposed to be addicted to something but being a drunk is tough man. Better for people like us to stay away from it.
-
Did you set anything on fire? Did you pull out the shotgun and start laying waste to the backyard? Did you kidnap a black man? Did you bust all the mirrors in your house with your fists? Were the police involved in any manner? Did you vomit? Was the bed you sleep in spinning? Did you poop yourself?
If you answered no to any of these questions you may not drink like me. ;)
I am part Cherokee so drinking and me have quite a relationship, I can turn an ordinary trip to the store into a 3 week adventure.
I never touch that stuff anymore, I just do a little heroin every now and then just to take off the edge. :D
-
well the good thing is youve got a friend with you , I mean it always sucks to know you going down alone

Meh I don't get it though. The men in my moms family have a real binge drinking problem. From the first time we ever drank we've gotten black out drunk. I know plenty of people who have developed alcoholism over years of abuse but not the first time. On the other hand, my dad use to drink constantly yet never ever got drunk. His drinking was never ever ever an issue. He'd have a beer before sleep, a rum and coke after church, glass of wine at supper, split a sixer at work etc.

used to go out and get shit faced when i was younger but now i just drink now and again...i am getting old ::)

Same here man....guys on my moms side are/were all raging alcoholics. My dad on the other hand I've seen drink plenty of times yet never seen him drunk.
Like donny I'm getting too old for this shit. Hangovers last at least a couple days and I'm guaranteed to be completely useless the day after.

This thread has George W. Bush written all over it.
RAtard, time to find your savior in Christ... there's still time.

Alcohol is one hell of a drug, the best and worst moments of my life are thanks to alcohol

if you felt the need to "sober up" then you are/were worried about it. so you might want to rethink the whole thing. I lived in a bottle for a long time. it will destroy your life. i am fortunate that it didnt destroy mine.
pm a brother if you want to talk :D
-
Never even tasted alcohol thankfully, crazy enough stuff happens me as it is

Agreed. Nothing better than a dram or 2 of Macallan 18.

I just like the taste of alcohol, but I rarely drink.
Straight Vodka, whiskey...

Classic alcoholic thinking....
1-Deflecting your friend's "worse" alcohol problem off your own
2- Mistaking 2 months putting a cork on the bottle with sobriety. They are not the same.
Sobriety is someone who has actually "stopped" drinking one day at a time or whatever floats your boat, and works, learns and puts into action living life in reality, where as someone who "quits" basically sits on the fence basically doing dick to change their whole lifestyle basically waiting for that next event good or bad that they could use as an excuse to have "one" again.
I have lived both sides and the difference in quality of life could not be more extreme.
Look, I don't care how much you drink, but if you find before and/or after you are questioning, justifying, and/or deflecting your life in regards to you behaviours with or without alcohol well you can figue out the rest.
If so I may suggest getting some help of some sort, and not just "stop" drinking but realize you are going to have to work on changing all your behaviours and attitude, not just stick a cork on the bottle and sit on you ass and expect your life to change totally.
Not saying go to AA( whiich has success for those who work and live the steps as outlined, not just sit in meetings and be part of the debating club), but that is one option and there are other support groups and communities, medical, religious and otherwise that work for people as well.
Either way if you don't change the behaviours, attitudes you have and the situations you put yourself in, you are just going to continue to fall down and live life as a miserable dry drunk, which I can tell you from my own experience and others around me, was a much more miserable experience than falling down and getting drunk over and over.
A few guys have offered an ear here to you that have been through it, you won't lose anything by talking with them offline or via pm.
...getting off my soapbox now

idea...
make yourself drink a whey protein shake before you start drinking.
The whey will soak up the alcohol like you wouldn't believe, and you'll feel full very quickly.

I'm not that bad. I can control my drinking, it's just torturous. I only enjoy drinking like a mad man.

I am an alcoholic....LISTEN TO THIS GUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
but joking aside my step Brother was an alcoholic and i saw him in severe stages of it...he landed in Hopsital and was told he had 6 months if he carried on. He was in the merchant Navy for years and every time i saw him on leave he was drunk on black heart rum. The party had to finish for him and he stopped.

Mental illness is no joke. It's much easier and socially acceptable to call yourself an "alcoholic" than it is to deal with the mental illness that leads to the abuse of the substance.

there is no chemical solution for a spiritual problem ::)
