I here a lot of people saying that Sonbatty is an idiot, they forgot that he won al major bb contest: The Night of Champions, Arnold Classic etc.. When he got second after Yates in the Olympia, he should have won, at least that`s my opinion.
Give the man some respect, although I also dislike his use of synthol in the last years.

if nasser could have brought his back way up (but alas he couldnt or he would have) he would have been the emphatic sucessor to doz!
he was a monster in 96 and edged out doz from the front. but doz more than edged him out from the back .. he f'uckin anihilated him.

Pecs are flatter than flapjacks.
-
He looks pretty good in those shots when he is scrunched up. He doesn't look nearly as good when he opens himself up (like in the front double bi) and obviously when he turns around.
-
How old is he?

rumplestiltskin old

Really? It's a pretty interesting theory. But if you'd overdose the way some do, don't you think the body eventually would stop responding in the same way it did?
-
i saw him guest pose in 95 at the new jersey state championships and all i could say is WOW,the guy was a total monster,it freaked me out,it was offseason but he was 305 and huge
-
My theory: he can't afford the drugs required to be in top form.
That's kind of sad. Maybe Flex magazine can take up a collection to buy him some HGH.
-
I think he still competes to keep his Weider contract. Remember: Wheeler lost his in 94 becuase he was too injured to compete, and K-Lo was going to lose his too if he didnt compete in the Olympia the same year he tore his pec.
I'm sure the standard clause in any Weider contract from the 90's was that if you compete every year and at the Olympia if you qualify, you keep getting paid. Shawn kept his after 2001 by saying he was going to compete but kept putting it off . . .

If you ever seen Nassar train, you would understand why he had no back...He is your typical go heavy as possible and use every other muscle but the one your training to do his 1/4 reps...
His body broke down(probably his receptors) and then throw in his over kill with the oil....Maybe he has a circus mirror at home or a delusional friend telling him to put more here or more there...
Whatever though...If he has his health with all the sh t he pumped into his body, then he should feel lucky he got out alive...Wish him nothing but the best....He was a true freak for many years

Damn when people who speak out of thier asses speak it stinks!
Nasser had plenty of back, check the 97-98 Olympia. His problam was getting ripped in the back and not the size.I have seen his video and its very wierd from the front he got strations on every muscle...then he turns around and looks smooth as hell.No matter how close to the competion he was....probably just a genetic disposition of fat.
Just like Flex always had a ripped back with veins poping on the traps but smooth glutes and hams.
So your whole training theory dosent work,he was big and ripped...its probably his genetics that stoped him from being the top dog and not his work ethic or your great knowlage of receptors downgrading.... ::)

well whatever about speaking out of my ass but im sure you have trained along side of him many time right?--I live in san diego for 3 years and seen him train quite a few times...It was laughable but the mind/muscle connection is crazy thing...He was wide as a f cking house though...But even in the gym as wide as he was and as thick as he was, something about his back wasn't right...
Please show me some pictures of him(next to another pro from the back)

by the way, what i said was probably receptors...But what does anyone really know...He certainly was over compensating for something with the oil now wasn't he?

great pic of nasser's old back double bi

great pic of nasser's old back double bi
I was just about to say lat spread...i have seen good pictures of him in the back double bi(and this is one of them)..It may have been that he didn't really know how to get the most out of his back lat spread

Shawn Ray is owning both Dorian and Nasser in that back double bi posted above.

BULLSHIT!
-
damn i have to admit Nasser looks incredible in that shot, i don't remember him ever looking that good from the back before, he is absolutely o.wning both of those guys there.
-
can someone post a recent shot of nasser's back? it's like his lats fell off.
-
his damn hamstrings are shreeeeeded in that shot
-
Damn... hamstring's are crazy!! :o That's not a bad shot of Nasser in the rear dbl bi.

Oh boy lol Yates is leaps & bounds better than both of them , Nasser may have Yates tied for width , but he doesn't have any detail , his lowerback is holding water and he can't match Dorian's thickness , the only advantage Nasser has is biceps peak , Yates has him tied for hams & calves , Yates has striated glutes , Nasser doesn't , and Shawn isn't close on thickness , width or detail , normally he would be just as detailed as Yates but this was the 1996 Mr Olympia and they tested for diuretics and Shawn was slightly off from 93/94 and he is about 50lbs lighter than Yates !!

1.Just look at any pic from 96-99 like some of the ones that were posted here.
2.Receptors downgrade is mostly a myth regarding anabolics ...so I was laughing at you not agreeing with you... ::)
3.What I meant about his training that it dosent matter if you think he was halfassing it,point is he was massive all around.
-
receptors downgrading is mostly a myth? OK right and so next you will tell us all that their is no life on other planets :-\
now post a back lat spread of him(not by his lonesome)
I never said he trained half-ass...actually the opposite...

I will always have a huge amount of respct for Nasser based on who and what he was at one time. His physique and his conduct (selling soiled clothes, syhtnol) were of a man of desperation in recent years. I find that sad , especially after meeting and seeing him back in his prime.

Nasser is still a good bodybuilder, just a 'shadow' of his former self [he wishes]. The nineties really were the true golden age of bodybuilding. There was genuine excitement about guys like Doz, Nasser, Levrone and even Shawn. It really pains me to see one of the aforementioned heroes embarrass himself at every turn. He should retire, open a gym and spend the rest of his days banging pussy.
-
truly a great bber while in his prime.
he got really bad, really fast.
when he got 10th at the 01 Olympia, I thought he would rebound, but he got worse with every show.

What is sad is the guy was such a proud champ , acted with real dignity if you ever met him in person in his prime. Carried himself with real pride , a massive pro that was a no nonsense kind of guy, very intelligent.
Sad he went down this path of self destruction this recent years.

maybe the tanning bed in his car-hold fried his better judgement
