What's up with all the lat tears?
« on: May 01, 2007, 09:05:42 AM »
Ronnie, Warren, (someone else I can't remember), Will Harris?

Did he injure his left lat?

This seems to be a fairly recent thing - the last few years - but it's spreading like wildfire.

lifting with meathead mentallity is how torn lats happen....branch is cool but his lifting style is ridiculous and resembles more of a "whose got the biggest dick" attitude....i predict that in the next 5 years branch will injure about every freaking muscle group in his body

there are smarter ways to lift

I agree with this 100%.........you don't need to train heavy all of the time!

Training to much with weights is not healthy for heart, muscle, tendons, joints, ligaments etc... going to the gym to lift heavy is not healthy mentally or physically, and you wonder why bodybuilders get injuries?

think they train to heavy when they are carb and water depleted. easy to get injured then.

what is too much? and what is heavy? heavy for one person may mean 225lb deadlift, while for someone else it may be 600lb deadlift....your statement is too general to make any sense....lifting smart is good for your heart, muscle, tendons, joints, and ligaments...throwing weights around too look tough like branch does is definitely not healthy, especially how he uses no control on the negative, just drops the shit and explodes back up, or should i say 1/2 way back up....

Sure, but there have been guys who train too heavy/hard for years. They all tore biceps or pecs or quads, now all of a sudden a bunch of guys tear their lats all around the same time (within a year of each other)? Weird.

It  is from guys  site injecting their lats with gear and oil. No bs , guys have always tossed weights around with sloppy form when it comes to back training.[ one reason there aren't more great back around IMO.....the guys with great back just have freaky genetics and train heavy.....Coleman , Jackson, Columbu........lifters  w good gentics....Haney and Yates feelers , but Yates still manged to train very heavy which is impressive......]  .

Look at the late 90's at what happened to guys delts . [ Full of oil......look at Wheeler , Dillet especially his rear delts by then , Nasser , ect........pretty much everyone ,but Shawn Ray got caught up in the rats race and fell victim to the abuse of oil . Got to give Ray props for believing in his physique enough to not ruin trying to hang with the big dogs.It is standard now , look at the delts on most of these guys , they are spectactular . [ check out Luke Wood's delts, I like the guy , but his delts look stupid , and are starting to hurt him in his placings. Also , the scar tissue will cause him problems later on just  like with Dillet and Nasser ]

A few years ago , remember all the torn quads ? That was because a few top gurus were telling guys to inject their lower quads . The guys that knew what was up from the guys were fine for the most part , but the lower level guys that were getting info second hand, were the was tearing quads right and left. That practice has gone out the window for the most part hasn't it now? .....when just a few years ago it was the rage.....

The problem lies is most bbers are insecure[and perfectionists to boot] and when they see holes in their physiques they want to fix it . The problem you can't fix it with oil [it doesn't look right ],there are guys that did a great job with it like Leverone, but a trained eye can see it .[ If you think his traps , tris ,bis , and delts weren't full  of  gear/escilene in early 90s ,and later oil you are crazy......look at the flat angles to his tris in M3  or look at the big lumps of oil in Ronnie's side delts in his unbelievable video] I could go on and on and give a hundred examples....These guys just can't admit itor their careers are done because oil is fake .....

Pros and top amatuers are amazing without the oil/ site injects imo. Just to develop the phyiques that they would have without much gear is crazy . Even the lower tear guys have tremendus phyisques [ which often get ruined by huge ammounts of drugs and oil tryting to keep up ] . It goes to show you how amazing Shawn Ray/s genetic package was [ besides being a tad narrow , all his muscle bullies are full and real .......everyone love's to rave about Wheeler ' genes , but he definately had something going on with his calves by the early 90s , by late 90s he was full of it .Cormier has a pretty freaky Genetic package too, but there is oil in his arms and delts as well ]I would say Sergio had the best genes in the sport , Ray , Dexter , Paris ,Haney Reeves, Haislop and maybe Cormier  would be honarbale mention.[ Ronnie is crazy freaky , but he is a huge combo freaky drug response , hard work , and oil filling in his holes .......without it ,he would  not be Ronnie ......where the guys I mentioned above have great genes and very few holes in there phyisques. It is sad that sport has forced guys to resort to this kind of shit . It has got to hurt . imagine trying to train with fresh injection sites everywhere. No wonder so many guys are hooked to pain killers and worse .........

Hmmm, this and the later comments here, are for the most part true. But , we must consider the fact that every top pro must push the envelope or they won't be at/near the top of the pack. No matter how one trains, pushing it to the max in all the areas (drugs, diet, dehydration and lifts) is taking risks. No pro sport is risk free from injury.

i can see the gap on ronnie´s picture, but all the other differences seems to be just a matter of not expanding the back completely on the left side...look at this picture...you see the 2 'balls' on this back are no aligned, and neither are his shoulder where i put the point marks...Its just a matter of posing properly...
But yeah, there is a little gap on the circle i made

If you look at Unbelieveable, you can clearly see that lil gap in his back (left lat). Maybe he really does just have some nerve damage?

exactly. pro sports = pushing the limits
injuries will always be a sport of pro sports except maybe... chess.

Ron does not have a lat tear
it is a teres major tear

Branch training partner and Desmond Miller both have a lat tear, too

Seems like a lot of the guys who use shitty form and to much weight are tearing muscles. Pretty easy to see how Ronnie and Branch could tear muscles by watching the way they train.
