I've narrowed it down to two blenders now! Not all brands are available in Europe, but these seems to do the work and has got great reviews from what I can tell...

Stylish too!

Anyone had experience with them feel free to post

The first one is Bosch MMB 2000 (or MMB2000) it's got a huge 1.75 Litre glass jar, and got 600 watts of power.

The second is the Philips HR 2094 (or HR2094) 1.5 Litre glass jar, and 750 watts of power.

(kitchen aid "only" got 500 watts of power and a smaller jar and is twice as expensive as these 2 models)

It is a big deal because the cheaper most of the time can't do what the more expensive ones can - for example crush ice.

I'm with Tier, Bluto.  If the jug is sufficiently big and it doesn't have 50 parts to wash separately, don't waste your money.  It's just a tool - function first, form second.  Mine was $25 and it does everything I need it to do.  Granted, I've never tried to crush ice with it.  But c'mon big guy, how many margarita and daiquiri parties are you really going to have?

I confess I don't wash mine thoroughly (take apart and scrub) every day, maybe every third or fourth day.  After each use: I rinse it out, fill about 1/3 with water and a bit of soap and turn it on again.  Rinse and let dry.
