Guglielmi said detectives, who are investigating the allegations as a possible hate crime, have looked at hundreds of hours of surveillance video from businesses and hotels in the heavily monitored area. But he said they still need to collect and view more. He said they are expanding the search to include footage from public buses and buildings beyond the scene's immediate vicinity in the hopes of spotting the men who match Smollett's description of the suspects.
"We haven't seen anybody, at this point, matching the description he gave. Nobody looks menacing, and we didn't find a container anywhere," Guglielmi said, referring to a container for the liquid that the actor said was thrown at him.
Neither Smollett nor his publicist has spoken publicly about the attack.
Now in its fifth season, the hourlong drama follows an African-American family as they navigate the ups and downs of the record industry. Smollett's character is the middle son of Empire Entertainment founder Lucious Lyon and Cookie Lyon, played by Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson, respectively.
After the attack, Smollett returned to his apartment, and his manager called police from there about 40 minutes later, Guglielmi said. According to a spokesperson for the Milwaukee Police Department, officers responded to a call in the 3000 block of State St. at 8:36 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22.
Sgt. Sheronda Grant said Freeman was arrested at that call for resisting and obstructing an officer, and use of a weapon.
Freeman was transferred to the Milwaukee County jail, where he was held until the afternoon of Jan. 24.
A spokesman for Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm said Freeman was released on the afternoon of Jan. 24 because prosecutors ran out of time to file charges.
“His time was expiring,” said spokesman Kent Lovern.
Lovern said prosecutors were attempting to get a mental health screen for Freeman, but that had not occurred by the time of his release.
Records do not indicate when Freeman was released, but Lovern said that would have happened after his office listed the case as "pending" on Thursday afternoon.

I would too. But here's the glitch in the system. I have handled multiple cases were a citizen made a false allegation about a cop. with video evidence proving beyond a shadow of a doubt the citizen was lying, the policy was that they wouldn't prosecute for fear people who were really abused by the cops wouldn't come forward. Now I'm talking about cases where the cop and his/her family were dragged through the mud... had to pay to move to a safe location and when it was determined via irrefutable evidence the citizen fabricated the story.. charges were not filed. so don't be surprised if that's the case here

I don't like the agenda the show pushes, and many of the gay kissing scenes are totally unnecessary and detract from what are usually good story lines. I think it's actually a really great show though with good actors/actresses, and I can't stand today's rap & hip-hop. Empire, SEAL's, and Gotham are the only shows on network t.v. I try to make it a point to catch these days, and Gotham has kinda stunk so far in what's supposedly its' last season.

Sources say at least one of the brothers bought the rope used in the incident at Smollett’s request. The sources also say the “Empire” actor paid for the rope, which was purchased at the Crafty Beaver Hardware Store in the Ravenswood neighborhood the weekend of Jan. 25.

In court on Thursday, Jussie insisted that he's not suicidal to ensure if something happened to him in jail, the public would know it was foul play - a reference to Jeffrey Epstein's jail cell hanging that many claim was an 'inside job.'
Judge James Linn granted him 'day for day' eligibility, which means if he behaves himself behind bars, he will likely be released within 75 days - just over two months.

After all the proof and video they have of him, and the judge told him as much, following this outburst the judge should have "said, Juicy, I have changed my mind. Since you won't take any responsibility I'm giving you the maximum 3 years for the crime", and then charged him max for several counts of perjury.

No. On the day of sentencing the prosecutor read a letter from the chief of PD and it ended with them saying he should pay $125K for the man hours.
The people that publicly vouched for him need to open their fucking traps and condemn his actions. When someone in the future is the victim of a crime be it race, hate or what have you it will give people pause whether to believe it or not.
That was just what he estimated in overtime in his original statement. It doesn't include normal hours/resources used to gather city cam and private sector photo/video evidence, nor whatever this fiasco of a trial has cost the City.
