I saw 2 high school kids, benching with a 25 pound plate on each side (95 pounds?), hanging the CHAINS off each end.  They then explained to anyone around them the importance or progressive resistance.
hahahaha, there used to be a clown at another gym i trained at who did that shit with 135 and he used the same fucking weight every bench workout, he was about 170 lbs. and always wore a cutoff sweatshirt that said Be a Beast In The Gym, hahahaha.

Many years ago, I had the privilege of training with Bob Weiland.  Bob is a double amputee.  He lost his legs in a mine explosion while serving in Vietnam.  Incredibly strong and huge during the period he was focusing on strength development.  He specialized in the bench press during which I had to fasten him to the bench with specially designed straps before he would perform the lift.  I personally spotted him for two strict repetitions with 512 lbs.   After the set, we verified his bodyweight at 232 lbs.

Bob Weiland has accomplished many other amazing feats.  He has completed many marathons by "walking" with his hands.  However, the most incredible accomplishment may be completing the Iron Man Triathlon.  Again, I was fortunate enough to assist in his preparation on occasion.  It was unreal to observe him diving into the deep end of an Olympic size swimming pool and lap swim 2 to 3 miles several days each week.

He had a tremendoulsy positive attitude and outlook on life during the time I assisted in his training regimen.  Bob told me he used to train with the late great Pat Casey and incorported many of Mr. Caseys' training principles into his own philosophy.  I have not seen Bob for several years, but I would guess he is still challenging himself.  I think he currently resides in California.

World class powerlifters definitely do PARTIAL DEADLIFTS with >1000lbs.

Oh, ok. My mistake. I'm not a powerlifter, so I really don't know the records.

the Smith bar in our gym weighs 10 pounds, it's one of those gay Get Flexed ones where you push at an angle, i always like telling guys, "damn dude three plates on each side, 280, good job dude, they almost always say, that's 315, and i come back with, the bar is only 10 pounds.

My 20 year old training partner (natural !) is 5'8" 230 solid. Benches 430, military presses 315 for 5, front squats 405 for 6, deadlifts 600. He did some New England natural powerlifting comp in Oct. He squated 520 with no suit, benched 420, and deadlifted 585. He was the only one in the thing without a squatsuit. Doesn't even train for powerlifting. He's gonna be the white Ronnie Coleman, I've never seen genetics so good!

I was out in Venice in September, at muscle beach and saw a short Russian guy do shrugs (10 good reps) with 8 45's and 2 10's on each side of the bar.  I thought he was going to deadlifts at first but he ended up doing shrugs.  It was the craziest thing I've ever seen, that's the most impressive lift I've seen.

what's the big deal with that you're only moving the bar two inches.

i was training some strongman events at a gym we used to go to and tried the farmers walk for the first time with 225 in each hand and picked them up and got about 6 feet with them, haha, then a couple of guys who had been training these events for a while picked them up like they were nothing and literally started running with them, i couldn't believe it, they fininshed a 120 meter course with them in 18 seconds.

6 feet what a beast HAHAHAHAHAHAH

Dang bro, you're "old school".  ;D Kemper would love to hear that story.

Best I've seen? Yours Truly squatting 545 for reps at an ALL NATURAL 175. It was amazing!  :D

I used to train at Noel Thompson's Gym in Oxnard, CA in the mid 90's.  That dude was Mr. California NPC and Powerlifting, he squated 650 at 150, now that is some strong stuff.

Back when I was training at Svend Karlsen's gym, I saw him do 5 reps with 395kg (869 pounds) in deadlift!!

He was then a IFBB pro, but realised he would have more success as a strongman - and sure enough he won the World's Strongest man a few years later...

Captain Kirk Kwolowsky (sp?) squatting 800 for 4 or 5 reps..and the first couple of reps were soo damn fast that the bar whipped...at the now defunct maryland atheletic club..

my friend Rod Smith inclining 405 ..i wasn't counting the reps but i remember him talking to me while doing it...

my friend rich (rip) shoulder pressing 385 for 4....

my friend mohammed toray (where r ya bro?) one arm dumbell preacher curling the 120s...for reps..

my friend frank pause squatting with 600 some lbs...for reps...

Yonnie shamburger (i ws spotting) doing 20 reps with 450 some on the smith..knees forward and actually together...

me squatting 385 for 6 weighing 132  :D <raw>

n o yeah i once saw this noob (squatting in combat boots n all and jeans) shit himself coming up from a 315 squat...well i heard the sounds..saw the first inkling of wet brown and walked away to tell the gym owner...

Wait did someone say the guy with no legs weighed 232 pounds?

How much would he have weighed if he still had legs?
