Well that is patent nonsense. The ancient Greeks did exercise and also a lot of manual labour and walking. That is sufficient to get the physiques we witness on their sculpture. Also, sculptors often exaggerate and idealize the human body. It is easy to add a bit of muscle here and there and subtract some body fat. The evidence is from photos of actual sculpture.
