hahaha since when is that something to brag about?brutal "pack of sausages on the back of his neck" self ownage
I did a 685lb dead in a PL meet (back in '85- before deadlift suits) when I was 19 years as a light 275lber. The most I ever did in the gym at my peak was 775 with just a belt. I was always a good puller. I sound like Uncle Rico!
Steve, are you a grip guy these days? You have been to AOBS dinners, correct?
mesmorph78 probably can!
No, I'm not a grip specialist in anyway but I can usually hold my own in that dept. I have closed the ironmond #3 and have pulled 240lbs on the rolling thunder so that's pretty good. I have never been to the AOBS dinner but belong to the club. The dinner always seem to fall on a day when i'm away competing. Last year Pat Povilaitis had a big cookout at his house the following day and invited me up. A lot of the guys from the dinner where there so that was fun. If it falls on an off weekend for me next year i would really like to go, it's only less than three hours drive for me to get up there.
Just curious. If not how much do you deadlift?Discuss
Which would be about 300lbs more then you fuck head.In our gym you get kicked the fuck out if you cant pull at least 500lbs which means your about 200lbs shy, sorry, back to Planet fitness for you deuche bag.By the way,in that video Im 275.
I just recognized your name. It probably was from Milo. Pat is an ANIMAL when it comes to grip feats! I remember seeing him a few years ago at an AOBS dinner and I was very impressed.
I'm sure I could if I wanted to, but I don't want to ruin my lines. I'm a bodybuilder, not a weightlifter.
never gone higher then 405 4-6 reps...don't think i ever want to
Pat really does some pretty sick stuff in his act now. We had him down here to do a show in between lifts in a small powerlifting meet in Feb and he brought the house down. His big finish is now where he sticks his hand in a cougar trap! Magnus Ver Magnusson was here one time and Pat did it for him and I swear Magnus was going to puke when he saw it. He lets the trap slam down across his fingers and it nearly crushes them. Another thing he is doing now that people love is he takes a regulation louieville slugger baseball bat and puts a towell on his head and grabs the bat at both ends and just by pulling the bat down across the top of his head he breaks the bat in half. So he's not just a grip guy he has been doing some other stuff too.
Hmm. I don't want to rain on your parade, but this is akin to the telephone book rip -ie. it requires strength but also lots of technique. Bats in the last ten years have become more and more end-loaded so that in a game you see at least one bat break. They are made for whip action; the bat neck is relatively weak. These are not the 48 oz oak clubs that the Babe swung. /and no, i don't have video of me breaking one
I'm not saying it's the greatest feat of strength of all time but I have noticed over the years that when you are doing a strength demo the crowd loves it when things get broken. Actually Pat told me that he put the bat in a lat pulldown machine and with the cable at dead center it took a little over 400lbs until the bat broke. That's not too shabby for a 180lb guy.....oh, by the way when he does this feat he first lifts a 300lb atlas stone into his lap, squats down and holds the stome in his lap and then takes the bat and breaks it. I have a pic of it somewhere, i'll find it and post it.
I absolutely agree. Guys love the breaking of stuff. I've never forgotten Bo Jackson, pissed over a shitty at-bat, turning and snapping the bat over his knee as he walked back to the dugout.
epic breaking the bat at the skinny part down near the handle.
