The road to hell is paved with good intentions, as they say: the more housework married men do, the less sex they have, according to a new study published Wednesday. Husbands who spend more time doing traditionally female chores -- such as cooking, cleaning, and shopping -- reported having less sex than those who do more masculine tasks, said the study in the American Sociological Review.
"Our findings suggest the importance of socialized gender roles for sexual frequency in heterosexual marriage," said lead author Sabino Kornrich, of the Center for Advanced Studies at the Juan March Institute in Madrid.
"Couples in which men participate more in housework typically done by women report having sex less frequently. Similarly, couples in which men participate more in traditionally masculine tasks -- such as yard work, paying bills, and auto maintenance -- report higher sexual frequency."
His study, "Egalitarianism, Housework, and Sexual Frequency in Marriage," looks at straight married couples in the United States, and was based on data from the National Survey of Families and Households.

These men probably have low testosterone levels anyway...hence the propensity to do housework.

It's weird because I remember reading an article not long ago stating the exact opposite. That men who did more housework got more sex out of their partners. What's happening here? Are the women wearing the pants now and not desiring their thoughtful partners?

I have no idea but I actually prefer to do the housework. I love a man cooking for me, but that's about it. Everything else I want to do except change the lightbulbs and take the garbage out.

The reason for this phenomena is obvious. If you give your wife the impression that she can call the shots (i.e. doing the housework/cooking etc more than just to 'help her out a bit') then she will dictate when you both have sex. Dudes need to man the hell up

Most of these "studies" are entered into with a predetermined out come. Then it is just a matter of asking the right question to the right demographic to support said desired outcome.

I was worried about never being married because of my personal choices. (I don't want kids.) Needless to say, I don't worry as much now.
