Gingrich: ‘File charges’ against Pelosi if she releases dirt on me

Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich sounds a little worried that Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi might follow through with her threat to divulge details of his past transgressions.

“If she’s suggesting that she’s going to use materials that she developed when she was on the ethics committee, that is a fundamental violation of the rules of the House, and I would hope that members would immediately file charges against her the second she does it,” the candidate told reporters in New York Monday.

“I would hope that the House would immediately condemn her if she uses any material that was gathered when she was on the ethics committee.”

Talking Points Memo asked Pelosi if she would be willing to tell what she knows.

Stretch should tell us about the nearly-billion dollar loan that went to her brother-in-law's company. Or the non-unionized workers at her vineyards. Or the 66% ROI she made last year. Or the millions of dollars she and her husband made when they were gifted into a VISA IPO.

Sure, maybe he wants to put out there "me and nancy aren't friends like the commericial shows".

But methinks it'll leak... anything with this much value - with an election on the line - will come out if newt wins.

something like 83 or 84 charges were dropped, as he pled out, quit and paid a 300k fine... but those charges could look BAD.

For those who missed it:

Last Friday Nancy Pelosi told Talking Points Memo that she had all sorts of investigative dirt available on current GOP frontrunner Newt Gingrich. Specifically, “I know a lot about him. I served on the investigative committee that investigated him, four of us locked in a room in an undisclosed location for a year. A thousand pages of his stuff.” So… Newt Gingrich responded today by thanking Pelosi for the early Christmas present and noting “…if she’s suggesting she’s going to use material that she developed while she was on the ethics committee, that is a fundamental violation of the rules of the House and I would hope that members would immediately file charges against her the second she does it.” Annnnnd now we’re being told (via Weasel Zippers) – it would be cruel* of me to use the word ‘frantically’ – that what the former Speaker of the House really meant by her comments to TPM was that there was plenty of public record information about Newt Gingrich available. Not that there was any private dirt. Nope. Not at all. Representative Pelosi then went on to reveal that the Red Sox had won the 2004 World Series and that Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has been indicted on felony charges.
