It takes you about 2 weeks to learn the basics, then during the months and years you get better and better.  Learn it, saves you time, big time.

It means typing without looking at the keys.

I took a typing class in highschool, and I was one of the few that followed instructions.  I used to practice by instant messaging back in the day.

What the hell is touch type?

Where you know where the keys in the keyboard are and can type without looking, using all your fingers (as opposed to 'pecking' with your forefingers).

It's either that or where you touch yourself while you type in keywords like 'MILF' and 'golden shower' in the search field of sites like Red Tube.

To the original poster - Yes, anyone can learn to touch type and it will save you loads of time once you get the hang of it. Shouldn't take more than a couple of weeks to learn, although you need to practice it a fair bit before you get your speed to a decent level. You can learn it online for free too - Google is your friend.

So I have two choices:

1)Go and learn something useful to computer nerds with several weeks of tedious practice.

2)Watch brazilian fart porn and touch myself which I already master.

You're not making this easy on me kiwiol.

Like my favorite philosopher once observed, we all have the power to choose but no one has the power to escape the necessity of choice, Mr Monkey.

What I'm trying to say is screw option 1 and go for the Brazilian stuff!

It's not hard once u learn the finger positions and practice you'll get used to it and get fast. I took the class in middle school and now I'm fast as fuck typing.  Not hard to learn at all, u just have to do the shit exactly.

a few years ago in high school i set the record for my computer class with 105 words per minute, 5 minute time typing, with 0 errors. Most of the time i average around 94-95 words a minute.

Years of msn pays off.

I want to learn. Can anyone do it? How long did it take you to learn?

There are several programs that will help you for that. Now, if you wanna start now without download anything then do this (this is how ive helped my friends to achieve it).

1.- start trying to write your full name a lot of times until you do it without looking at the keys, you will memorize the location of each key.
2.- after you are done with the first step, start trying to write your full address, including postal code, city, country, etc. You will learn in this step the position of numbers.
3.- Then try #1 and #2 together.

Believe me, that will give you a great kickstart, also keep in mind that most keyboards are QWERTY, that means, if you look at it , you will see that the first row of letters are Q W E R T Y, hence the name, now you know where are those letters, always :)

Good luck

http://play.typeracer.com/                     Fun site for testing your typing. It doesn't allow for any mistakes. Occasionally I get as high as 96.

Sometimes, you can pick it up over time by just typing a lot.  Your mind tends to remember the positioning of the keys and it adopts to their placement.  You'd be surprised at how much you'd probably get right if you tried without looking.

I can do it and I never took any class.

I think anyone who can type fast let's say around 80 wpm should be able to do it with some error.

I can even do it on my phone's qwerty keyboard.
