In fact, DeSantis (who has a good chance of winning) will actually need to tone down his rhetoric on these type issues to win in swing states. No chance Trump can win the swing states.

Every single person that I know that says "Trump  cannot win" is miffed because Mr. Trump is "too mean"...Personally I think normal folk like and identify with him because he says exactly what we would say on a variety of subjects.

You could be correct. Both Biden and Trump have current unfavorability greater than 50 percent, yet each of them has won the presidency with 50 percent or more. I still say DeSantis presents a better chance for a Republican presidency than Trump. He got nearly 60 percent in Florida and, I could be wrong, but I see him as being able to pull at least 50 percent in Wisconsin, PA, GA and possibly AZ and MI. Trump has STRONG and HARDENED unfavorability that will make those states difficult. DeSantis can still define himself. Just my personal thinking, no expertise on this.

I think back then it was done for people with real genetic or anatomical issues. Not physiologically normal people who just want to "transition."

My mother’s first cousin did it in the 1990’s. “She” was a heterosexual truck driver with wife and children (40s), all of whom pretty much rejected the change. “She” was completely normal physically and came out looking OK and my mother was supportive, although my Dad did not like it when my Mom dragged him out to meet her for lunch at a restaurant. I think she led kind of a lonely life after that. Complicated, but I say her choice, although maybe selfish.
