Anything over 140/90 is considered high. Your top number is considered pre-hypertension, but keep an eye on it, it's getting close to being high, your bottom number is great.

The sweet spot as far as bp goes is 120/80, but it's ok to be a little below.

Cool thanks.  I'm going to try that hawthorn berry as well.  Just want to make sure I control pre-hypertension.   Any of you guys try it?

Stavios, the 159 is definitely high and the 55 is definitely low.  Be sure to check your bp when you are calm.  It can change rapidly within minutes due to activity or stress. Try to check it several days in a row at different times and see what the average is. That's the best way to get an idea of what your actual bp is.

Ederly people in general can get high blood pressure just as a result of the aging process. sometimes medication is the only answere for some folks. nothin wrong with that either. My blood pressure was high it was 145 over 94, I drank too much beer ate too much salty food and was over weight, I was powerlifting like crazy all the time. Heavy lifting can cause elevated or spike blood pressure way up there and can cause it to stay that way for some time. I have since realized that losing weight and not lifting so much heavy weight is better for me in the long run as I would rather be around for my 3 children and live a nice long healthy life.
normal blood pressure is 120 over 80. they now say ideal is 115 over 75-80. I have lost some 25 pounds to 215 pound total weight. I can still lift good amounts, I pressed 315 for 8 no sweat. my blood pressure norm is now 107 over 72 in the morning and around 120 over 78 at night before bed or right after work.
get an Omron wrist blood pressure monitor they work well if you are needed to monitor yourself. they run around 90 bucks. I got one on e-bay for 32. get the one with the (aps) automatic positioning sensor for accurate readings.
also................lay off of the creatine as i feel it can raise blood pressure much like elevated salt levels can. By holding water in the body.

This is not for me but for an elderly woman (my grandmother). She is pretty set in eating chocolats all the time. She doesn't drink much water. I guess she has a lot of stresses too.

So please list all the ways for that.

Clonidine HCL

.3MG an hour before bedtime.

Good for hypertension and also acts as a sleep aid.

She'll go right to bed and will forget all about those chocolate treats.

i dont know how old are you, but I guess you under 25! For your age 159/55 is just terrible - it doesn't meter if you're juicing or not.You must start treating you BP now. You don't wanna get a stroke when you are 30 , do you?

Clonidine HCL is great. It's also suposed to stimulate GH production if taken before sleep.

A great way to lower your BP is to try to supplement your training by adding a monstrous drug stack to your high-calorie, muscle-mass building, dieting regimen.  Add all the AAS, GH, amphetamines, thyroid, insulin, and diuretics you can inject/ingest; just like the competitive pro. IFBB bodybuilders do!  Even inject in your veins some added synthol oil for good measure!!

Train hard, load up on these BB drugs, and bloat your bodyweight up to around 300-350 lbs.bodyweight like your pro. BB heroes...RC, JC, GS, MR, etc.!  This way you will be assured to become the picture of excellent health and be guaranteed to live a long life!!

Stavios, if you are in your 20's and your BP is 160 systolic, you better go see a doctor.

That is fucking high any way you cut it.

Whoever made the post, high blood pressure is normal is a jackass.

It is one of the only risk factors for cardiovascular disease that has been proven without a doubt (see the Framingham study and litterally hundreds of others if you want the proof).

55 diastolic is fine, and there have been some studies which suggest that diastolic is more important a predictor for bad outcomes than systolic but current guidelines recommend using the higher of the two.

In any case, if I was you and I was walking around with a systolic BP of 160 at your age....I would definitely do something about it.

For an all natural cure use honey and apple cider vinegar.  Lowers blood and cholesterol plus it also eases arthritis pain.  Get it at any market.  It's been used for ages and works.  My aunt swore by it and she lived till a fall @ 96!

Did you use one of those pharmacy machines they have by the counter? Those things can throw your readings off quite a bit if you have anything larger than a 15inch arm.

I believe most MD's use a cuff that is fit for a 15inch arm, even an XL cuff is only accurate for a 17inch arm. Wrist monitors can be good as a substitute but even still its best to get several readings and take the average.

Thanks guys for all the input.

Apple cider vinegar, I gave her a teaspoon of that spoon last night and today she feels better already. I am playing closer attention to her diet and encouraging her to start training again.

just push some weight!

Arginine (unless she's ever had a heart attack)
Co Q10 (120 milligrams a day, minimum, is needed to see much benefit)
540 mgs. of DHA and 360 mgs. of EPA a day (at least)
Reducing salt intake (obviously)
Avoiding things in life (is possible) which cause a whole lot of tension and stress (wouldn't we all like to do that)
