It sure does look like a lot of work and it seemed to take forever, but it only took her 13 minutes.

I absolutely cringed through that entire tutorial. {lol}

I could just feel the tangling, and the breakage happening. I so despise Velcro rollers with a passion!
...add to that back combing and hairspray.... and you've got yourself a whole new axis of evil. {lol}

There's a whole other way to achieve that look without all the damage to the hairshaft,
...and trust me when I tell you, velcro rollers damage your hair.

After washing, simply partition your hair in sections as she did, preferably using metallic rollers.
Then blow dry each section individually, then put each section in a roller while the hair is still hot.

After each section is blow dryed and rolled, keep the rollers in for about 30 mins.

To achieve the same style on a day when you have not washed your hair, simply roll each section in hot rollers (velvet clad) , make sure to spritz each section with a leave-in spray conditioner to protect the hair shaft against the heat. Or even the metallic rollers will do if you don't have hot rollers.

Once all the rollers are in, place a big plastic shower cap over top, ...then take your shower. The humidity / moisture from your shower will not only provide added moisture to your hair shaft, but will work to set your hair as well.

After the shower, towel off, apply your moisturizer or other bodycare products, go about your routine, apply makeup, get dressed etc., Then remove your rollers. By this time, the rollers have completely cooled down, and all the humidity/moisture that might have occurred during your shower is absorbed by your hair, ...and guess what, the volume and curl is in place and firmly set. No need for damaging alcohol on your hair shaft or frying your cuticle with a curling iron.

Hope That Helped.  :)

STella,

Go extremely light on the leave-in spray conditioner. Depending on your hair texture, ...it could weigh it down.

OK thanks, I usually don't use it w/the rollers but plan to try it.
