Does the IFBB need a 6 ft and over division?
« on: January 25, 2009, 07:37:12 AM »
With the recent Ironman line-up, none of the top five were over 5'7".  Nobody of "normal" height wants to aspire to look like a 5'7" guy.  I guess the problem is that other than Wolf and Freeman, there would be no other entrants.

so you bring up a question, and then you answer it correctly.

So the point of this thread is?

It really was pathetic. Could you imagine a Dennis Wolf or Toney Freeman (normal height dudes) in that line-up?

I thought i was watchin a 202 show.

utter garbage.

Yup, that is a good cut-off.

I don't wanna see anyone shorter than Heath winning the olympia.

Seeing the shorter guys in person is a huge let down.

Bodybuilding is full of midgets. If you had a 6+ category you'd have 2 competitors in it.

I agree with this. The iron man for example wasn't that exciting to watch imo because of the height of the competitors. I was only impressed with about 3-4 bodybuilders at that show... mainly the leanest ones.

that's a good point.  Was anyone at the Ironman 6 foot or taller?  Imagine a silvio at "under 6 foot" standing next to some 15th place Euro guy in the final.  That'd be embarassing.

Under-202 class is a great idea though.

You probably won't ever see someone that height ever winning the O. Long gone are the days of Franco et al.

I thought "normal height" was 5'8". So, what's the big issue?

Martin Kjellstrom was over 6 feet tall and the European guy with the ugly veins in his chest and shoulders stood about 5-10 to 5-11
