Title: the reason why phelps retired
Post by: macos on September 01, 2013, 01:28:33 PM
Phelps could have easily won more gold. He was just too apprehensive about the fact that WADA woould eventually catch him and discover his methods.

Recovery aids - Anabolic but not highly androgenic for recovery purposes mostly.

Human Growth Hormone

Low Dose-
Testosterone
Stanozolol
Oxandrolone

Appetite stimulation

Peptides

Red blood cells / Endurance

Erythropoietin

Stimulants - obvious

Ephedrine

Breathing aids - If you can breath deeper and fuller you can take in more Oxygen

Albuterol
Clenbuterol
pseudoephedrine

Beta Blockers - If you are not nervous at all but your competition is so nervous they are nauseous and have diarrhea who will perform better.

Propranolol

And to be honest the list goes on...These would just be some of your average every day endurance athlete's go to's.

Ian Thorpe only retired because he got caught. The results of a test came out a few months afterwoods.

His comeback went nowhere, but he had to sit out for a while.

Maybe Phelps was tired of taking drugs. He had nothing left to prove and to do a 4th olympics, he probably would have been beaten in many events but younger receptors  ;)

He will be way past his prime in 2016.

Didn't he consider retiring last year because he felt he was pushing it?

all the stuff listed can be tested for by the WADA. Also if  a random offseason test was conducted, he would have been caught. They even test for masking agents these days, i.e., the diueretics and plasmics. He had to be on something that is not in the market yet. The PEDs we discuss on getbig are only the tip of the iceberg. The real stuff is not accessible to the average schmoe.

Lol so? Everyone in the Olympics is still on all the shit listed, and they always have been...Hell most of the "coach's" whole responsibility is just to make sure his athletes don't test positive..The Olympic version of a George Farah, Chad, Rambod etc..

Since the 80's everything is out there dude...Nothing has been secret since Victor Conte and "the clear" which was just the equivalent of a designer steroid the likes of which can be procured at any GNC or Vitamin Shopper these days passed off as a "pro-hormone". Just a steroid with a tweaked molecule that isn't tested for etc..

Everyone is using the stuff I listed and not even really hiding it if you're in the know..

Tune in to this video at minute 43 and be educated...

so was lance armstrong, floyd landis, ben johnson, tim montgomery, marion jones. 8 out of the top ten fastest men in the world(100 m) tested positive for banned substances. And the fastest of them all, usain bolt, claims he is all natural. In the recent atheletics championships held in august saw many atheletes like asfa powell, tyson gay test positive and yohan blake pull out due to a supposedly injured ham. Usain bolt passes the tests and wins the event.  He has to be on something.

?? It's not even a thought, of course he uses the same as any who got caught. He's just got away with it so far.

I swam professionally for over ten years, the first of which were A, AAU, USA and then Far Western 10 best cutoff.

Let me tell you, this is why we can appreciate a good swimmer, especially a butterflier.

It gets old real quick. Your whole life is spent immersed in water to where you wake up dreaming that you can breathe underwater. You believe it so much that you actually wake up wanting to jump in the pool and inhale....water.

To get to the level he reached is insanity. Obviously, after his initial debut and all the dope-smoking vids, we already knew where his mindset was.

It was at the "Fuck this" level.

Now maybe he can live a little and hopefully his money has been invested well.

And for the record, none of us swimmers believe for one second that he was some super-natural (natty) that came out of nowhere who had the ability to phenomenally kill past phenomenal records.

Most of us just think like anything else. He used drugs that had been specially designed to pass detection.

Happens every time. Still gotta give him props, because even when you take their shit away, they are still "Pros" ~

Well, I know that when I swam, they were very common dreams among those of us who swam 3 times daily for 6 hours or more ~

I went to high school with a guy similar to what you described, lived and breathed swimming for his while teeange life, was supposed to be at the olympics in 2012 but had minor breakdown and quit... very tough demanding sport.

There were reports of gene doping for swimmers. The scientists were using genes extracted from the dna of dolphins. Can anyone gather some more info regarding this.

That doesn't make any sense.... wrestlers have to CUT to make weight, not weigh a minimum amount

they reduce weight only for the weigh-ins before competition. Most of the time otherwise they keep thier weight up for strength

It's called depletion...

And yeah, let's extract some DNA from Dolphins for the swimmers and some DNA from the Gracies for the MMA/UFC fighters....
