yeah i got an appointment on 1/9 in Hannover by a specialist. Maybe go in Hospital for 2 weeks for intensive injections,therapy.. physio here in Celle gave me the number. Hannover is Big and they have much more therapies. if i need it will wait and see at the moment i´m feeling more strength just my fingers hurting. I can´t be arsed with going away for weeks in a clinic.. they call it a "Kur" here.

3. This gym has a lot of oddities I just can't explain. Stuff like you rarely see anyone spotting anyone in the bench. Is it considered rude to ask for a spot in 2015? Guys use the lightest weights in barbell curls. In the past I use the see guys using some serious weight but now I see steroid 220lbs plus guys using 65lbs. Just find this unusual. In days gone by I never saw guys with a gallon milk container full of water. Do guys really drink a gallon working out?  It seems every other guy has his milk jug.

If you saw me working out lately, you'd probably think the lack of resistance I use odd too. I am really taking it slow and easy so as not to get burnt out. On concentration curls, I am using 60 lbs. You'd think this puny weight would have no effect, but I am sore for two days afterwards. Yesterday I did reverse hack squats for the first time in a long, long time. Last year, I was using 6 plates and it felt fine. Yesterday with the first set I used machine weight and worked up to two plates. That's only 90 lbs. plus machine weight.  I am slightly sore from it today. Maybe I shouldn't base how much weight to use by how sore it makes me, but this seems to work at this time.

For awhile folks though the more water you drank the better. This thinking has changed lately. Too much water is not good for you. Also, one should take into account all liquid beverages and foods, such as soup. Eight 8 oz. glasses of water is more than enough unless you live somewhere like out in the desert where you would get more dehydrated then you would elsewhere. Some people naturally sweat more than others. They too should adjust their liquid intake accordingly. I rarely sweat much unless I am hot, like out in the yard working when it is 90 degrees out. For reasons I don't understand more humid climates make me sweat more. It can be 80 degrees Fahrenheit in D.C. and if I'm outside walking, I sweat like a pig.

On Friday I worked legs. Before I started with weight training, I did 30 minutes of cardio using the treadmill and the recumbent bike.

Seated ham curls on Nautilus, 4 X 12
Leg extensions on Nautilus, 4 X 15
Leg presses, 5 X 15-12
Reverse hack squats, 3 X 12
Seated calf raises, 4 X15

I'm only a little sore today. Normally I am most sore on the second day after working out.

No gym observations.

This week I downloaded Windows 10 on two of my three computers. On the other one Sony hasn't offered upgrades to make it Windows 10 available. It is newer than my laptop which had no problem installing Windows 10. One observation is that Windows 10  makes everything run a lot faster.

Days off make one appreciate days on all the more. I'm still using my ancient racing bike. I bought it used in the 60's and it's still going strong. It is a Seraph, turquois frame with black seat and wraps.

60lbs for concentration curls with a dumbbell is more than most professional bodybuilders can handle. Arnold used 50lbs.  That is an incredible weight to use for concentration curls. My previous post about guys using light weight in curling was referring to barbell curls. The poster after me talked about dumbbell curls maybe misunderstanding my post .

Reference water, too much water that is not needed can dilute electrolytes in the body actually causing cramping. At it's worst death.  How forcing a lot water has become a pro health issue has never been proven.

Olympic straight bar curls kill my elbows. Don't even know what I could handle on them these days. Back in the day though..... 8)

The heaviest I go with both straight bar and ez bar curls is 105. After that it will just get too sloppy for me.  I remember being in awe back in the day watching a guy use 135lb for his barbell curls. Strict concentration curls seated using the thigh for a brace I never go above 25lbs. Again if I go to 30 and above it becomes sloppy where I cheat the movement with body english.

The bend over standing version of the concentration curl with a dumbbell most can use more weight than the seated one.

I find the straight bar hurts my shoulders when I curl. I tend to alternate the ez bar and the straight bar when I do barbell curls each bicep day. The ez bar causes a lot less aggravation for me but I still have Arthur Jones and Larry Scott in my head hearing them say the straight bar is more effective. I should just stop using it like Dorian Yates did.

Truth be told I think the best bicep builder of my biceps is the straight bar attached to a low pulley. It provides resistance through a greater range of motion.

When I do bicep curls with a straight bar it totally fries my forearms...to the point where it becomes really painful to go on....and the pain feels like a deep-seated nerve pain

I do a standing cambered bar curl with a narrow grip leaning forward, hits the biceps well. Can't use much body english with your triceps on the  front of your body.

Biggest arm pump comes from a preacher machine for me. I feel standing db curls the most though,  like right in the meat of the bicep.

Anyone working out this Sunday? Going to Church (which I know is frowned upon on getbig) then hitting the gym. After that I'm going to clean the pool and hang out in it till dinner.

I've noticed the gym on Sunday operates with a skeleton crew of workers that I don't recognize. The gym is a complete mess of plates everywhere but never where they belong on the pegs.  What I think happens is Monday to Saturday the gym is cleaned up every morning. On Sunday it's a wreck.  Won't stop me from getting my back and chest workout in.

I have been working out in this commercial gym for about 5 weeks or so. I made decent gains from excitement of being in a new training atmosphere. I think after one more month I will be ready to return to home training. The thrill is wearing off and the aggravation factor of public gyms is hitting me. Did you know that RetroFitness plays music over the loud speakers that is interrupted with commercials for their trainers and such things as athletic shoe inserts?  Might bring the ear buds today. My injured foot is feeling better. Going to see if I can start using heavy weights in deadlifting again. I will error on the side of caution. Don't need to start limping around again.

I should have explained the concentration curls better. I do use 60 lbs. as I said, but I use a machine where you do both arms at once. If I were using a dumbbell and doing traditional concentration curls, I'd be using 30 lbs. or less because it is harder to do these one armed. If I remember, I'll take a photo of this machine. Pretty much everyone who does concentration curls at the gym, uses this machine. It is rare to see even the biggest dudes doing them the traditional way. Think about it, your done in half the time.

I plan to hit the gym today. The gym is somewhat less crowded on Sundays. I doubt it is because everyone is in church though. I like it when I almost have the gym to myself. Never have to wait for equipment, which is nice.

Is church frowned upon on Getbig. I did not know this. Have you ever read the religious threads? There are some religious fanatics on Getbig. I used to go to church with my wife. It was always a little weird since she was Catholic and I wasn't. I mostly went just to be with her. I'm not sure what my religion is these days. When I was a kid, I went to Christian Science Sunday school. When I was older, I went with my parents to Religious Science. It leans towards the metaphysical. Years ago I was still going to Religious Science meetings. Lately, I haven't done much with church....guess I am a true Getbigger.

This is my impression of the majority of bodybuilding fans who post on getbig. Maybe not on this thread but the most of the threads. The majority are atheist progressive liberals who are fans of drugs both recreational and bodybuilding. They are not big fans of the military or police. Many believer there should severe rules of engagement to tie the arms of the military and the laws should be changed so you can legally resist arrest if it's not a felony. Most have no real careers and live with the assistance of government and/or their parents. Most are misfits of society who believe if we only lived in a more socialistic society all would be well.  I could go on and will probably delete this later. Maybe the deadlifts at the end of my workout put me in a foul mood.

Now on my running board it's another story.

I doubt most folks here fit all your observations. I think of myself as being open-minded which often is taken for being liberal. Since I am on HRT, I guess I'm something of a druggie. When it comes to recreational drugs, I like an occasional scotch or glass of wine....alcohol being a legal drug. In Oregon, pot is legal too. As I remember, I didn't like it. My grandson is an atheist, or so he claims. He's an okay guy. The only time I don't care for the police is when I am getting a ticket, deservedly or not. I am still cordial with them though. I respect that they have the authority in those situations. Awhile back, I did meet a cop who was a bit of an asshole. I took the ticket he issued me to court. I suspect the judge thought he was a jerk too. After the cop testified, the judge threw the ticket out. I hope I never run into this cop again. My income these days comes via Social Security, PERS, annuities, stock dividends and royalties. My parents died years ago. I moved out of their house when on my eighteenth birthday and never went back, except to visit them. So when all is said and done, I sort of fit some of what you believe people here are.

Why would deadlifts put you in a foul mood? Lifting too much weight? Can't lift enough weight? What?  ;D
