Title: Do you think VICK will get picked up?
Post by: SinCitysmallGUY on January 05, 2009, 12:50:15 PM
I know we have a little longer before anything happens with him, but where do you guys see him going and what possition do you see him playing? Hell if the Lions brought back Cullpepper, maybe just maybe they would sign Vick for the QB possition?

Hopefully he has a career ending injury the day he steps back on the field, scumbag.

Not a big fan myself. However I would love to see him play a couple of games and then get cut. I think it would be better for him to hear that he sucks and that no one wants him rather then see him get injured and be able to say that if the injury hadn't happened...

Imo that pile of trash should never have the luxury of putting on pads again. Imo playing as a pro athlete is a privilege.  If Vick had just fought dogs I would think he was a scumbag, but I would be an advocate for him getting a second chance if he was rehabilitated.  What gets me is the smashing of puppies skulls with rocks and the torturing of animals. That piece of shit should have the same things done to him.

It pisses me off as a dog owner to no end. I don't think that you can rehiblitate someone who does what he did. Sure some will say it was just an animal, but then my response is people are just people. I hope he gets KTFO by a LB coming across the middle. To bad he is a lil small for WR!

Oh I know there are some small guys, but I can't see Vick at WR. I also can't see him as RB. I just want to see him have his lid popped off with a helmet to helmet hit.

I live right down the street from Welker and Brady, so I see them at bars and resteraunts all the time in the back bay area.  I saw Tom and Giselle at Bricco in the Northend on Friday night.  Welker is short, but he is pretty thick. Brady is very tall.  Not jacked but about 6'5.

Brady or Welker?  I say hello to them and they know me from the neighborhood, but I try to stay out of their way.  Some wonder why I defend Brady so much, and it's because if people actually met they guy they would like him.  Jealousy is an evil emotion, and tons of people have it in regards to Brady.

Cool.  Did you go to school with him?  Crable looks like he is going to be a good pro, he is kinda skinny though.  He was a beast for is us before he got hurt.  They felt he was not used properly at Michigan....is that true.

Yea, i went to school with Crable but i was always at the games and my family knows alot of people from the A.D. down and i always got stuff handed down to me.  ;D ;D ;D. Yea, Shawn felt that way but in his eyes, he is a idiot but had great skills but always made stupid plays at MICHIGAN. Shawn was mad because of Coach Carr but when Ron English came in he excelled. Shawn was a 5 star coming out of high school and thought that he was the greatest thing since Cell-Mass hit the market. I have some Lamarr Woodley jerseys and David Harris jerseys also and those two guys are MICHIGAN MEN. They were smart on the field and off the field. Obi Ezeh is another good guy we have coming and Jonas Mouton is so so but Donovan Warren is a great kid who will be a junior this year and is a beast at Cornerback. Charles Woodson is working with Donovan and with Boubacar Cissoko who is another talented corner but i hope we can find Defensive Coordinator because with signing day coming...that could hurt us.

Woodson is a great guy and a perfect person for him to be under the wing of. I have a good friend who is budy with Woodson and the dude is a real good guy off the field. Same with ol Ray Lewis.

Cool, maybe he has matured since then, because he was a beast for us at the start of the season.  Are there any good Michigan players that you could see on the pats this year?  They like Michigan players.  Crable, Brady and Woods to name a few.

We only have one and we only had true Freshmen and Sophomores but one who will get drafted is Terrance Taylor and he is a monster and a great guy to talk with. We went to the spread and all our players went pro last year but if you want someone that will take up the middle then Terrance Taylor is your guy. Terrance is a Defensive Tackle and is a All American. What happened to Vicor Hobson? Is he still on the pats?

I think Hobson was cut to make room for someone else.  This Taylor guy sounds like a guy the pats might like. Jake Long must have been a beast huh?  My sister goes to BC and I saw Gosdar Cherilos (spelling?) on campus one time when I went to visit her, and that dude was HUGE.

Yea, i have alot of photos with Bo Schembeckler, Desmond Howard, Charles Woodson, Hutch, Long, Jansen..etc,...I stood next to Jake and he made me feel like i was the littlest person on earth. Mike Hart is tiny as hell though. MICHIGAN tackles were huge but with the spread they are not as big anymore. I wanna see Rich Rod succeed at MICHIGAN but i do not think that he has the team that is necessary to be O$U and that is what matters at MICHIGAN. You would really love MICHIGANS weight room. Rich Rod asked for 'some' money for a new weight room and he said about 500 grand in new stuff should be good, well, he got 1.5 million for a new weight room. The problem is that it is going to take time to get his players and for them to buy into the system. Rich is a dick when you first meet him because he just has a cocky ass attitude and he is the antsiest to Coach Carr. Rich Rod does not baby players like coach Carr did in the past but the one thing that scares me about Rich Rod is that he is not that big on academics. I mean he wants every player to graduate but i have been to many colleges and it just seems that the majority that i have been to are complete idiots and i hope that Rich Rod makes players focus on Academics first and foremost. I cannot stand to meet a player and they talk like they have no education at all. Rich Rod helped Noel Devine get into W.V.U. and i saw him play in high school and he was not allowed to play in Dade county....that is because he caused so much trouble and Morgantown, W.V.U. is a great academic institution and how he got in there is beyond me.  I just hope Rich recruits men that are into academics and not just complete idiots. Rich Rod is not use to having the luxury of recruiting California, Texas, Ohio and now that he is at MICHIGAN, he has a bigger recruiting budget. The recruits that i have already seen that have committied to us seem to be great young men and even the juniors that have already committed seem to be fine young men and that is what MICHIGAN needs because they are the next generation of "MICHIGAN MEN".  GO BLUE!!! THOSE WHO STAY WILL BE CHAMPIONS!!

Well, i was cut out of the female dorms by a grad student and went there.  ;D ;D The Big Ten is just looking so horrible right now. I rooted for O$U last night and i am a diehard MICHIGAN fan as they come. I am helping out family here in West Virginia and i was kicked out of a few bars because i would not remove my MICHIGAN shirts and i am not a Rich Rod fan but i hope that he gets 'his' system implemented and we get back on track.

Such strenuous academics (and the plethora of pro competition) is why BC is not a huge deal in MA.  Shit, they were they numbers 8 team in the nation last year, and no one gave a shit because the pats were 16-0, the Celts were killing people and the Sox were on their way to a second title in 4 years.

You talk to a BC athlete and you can tell that education comes first.  I hope to God the pats draft Marc Haslick this year.  Look at the competition that BC has to face:

Celts - Best team (or second best team depending how you look at it) in the NBA
Bruins - Best team in he NHL
Pats - 11-5 with a freaking backup at QB
Sox - Always tops in the MLB
Number of titles in the last 9 years - 6

Yea, i wish coach Carr would have kicked Mario Manningham off the team because he failed two drug tests that i know off. Rich Rod has has already kicked 3 players off for missing three classes and i am glad to see this. I want a winning program but i would also like to see them be successful people after football. Rich Rod played with Adam Jones and Chris Henry. I have been through where Adam Jones grew up at and i am not surprised by the way that he has turned out. I never ever wanna drive through College Park, Georgia again in my life!!! People are telling me that Rich Rod did not recruit Pacman or Chris Henry and which i hope is true. Who Manningham? Chris Henry? Adam Jones? Noel Devine?

Hopefully he has his career ended after making a big comeback.

Overly emotional; i love animals but don't have to prove it with posts that have nothing to do with the question posed.

I'm not sure that any NFL team will take a chance on him, his cruelty is considered over the top & doesn't go over well in animal-friendly north america. The severity of the crimes ensures that his rep is permanently soiled, i think.

Normally the CFL would be an option, and his style of play and cachet would be a perfect fit, but i don't see them being interested either. I think he's been branded as untouchable for life, like OJ. Even teams that would be interested would face a public-relations nightmare.

Manningham can't get on the field for the Gmen because the coaches think he's a dummy :-\

I spent time with him and i agree. Mario Manningham is from Warren, Ohio and you cannot take the Ohio out of the kid even when he plays at MICHIGAN. GO BLUE!!

No I don't, you're obsessed with telling people how they think or feel.  I have been consistant with my opinion on this since the accusations came out.  I don't care about what you or anyone else thinks about this issue.  I hope that Vick is injured if he returns to the NFL, and I hope that he never plays again.  It's very simple.

Telling me I'm to emotional and not unique for stating my opinion is just another example of pumpster trying to hard, again.  You don't think outside the box or in a unique way pumster.  Basically your an inflammatory troll who throws a hissy fit and starts to insult people if they don't agree with you.  Your reputation is widely known throughtout the board for this.

If I killed puppies with blunt objects for fun, I would deserve whatever happened to me.  A mistake is fighting dogs when you know better. A sick fuck is a person who smashes the skulls of puppies with blunt objects, hangs and strangles dogs for pleasure and shoots defensless animals for the hell of it.  Vick is trash and he did a lot more than make a mistake.  He has been doing shit like this for many years, and he is a lowlife scumbag.

It's not ok to TORTURE and abuse living creatures for fun.  Thats not a mistake, it's a pre meditated action that Vick did for many years.  Your analogy is inaccurate.  With your logic mistakes have no level of seeverity.  To you assault must be the same as speeding.  I'm really not sure how gruesome torture is a mistake.  I think every criminal out there will tell you they made a mistake....fact is, that some people are just fucked up, and Vick is clearly fucked up.

And check this out chief...I am a dog lover. I have 4 of them 1 from a shelter and 3 i paid for. I treat them like my children. Michael Vick wasnt raised like we were raised. He dosent put dogs on the same leves as we do. In his eyes and a lot of places in the south, Dog fighting is a way of life, a sport. They dont look at dogs like members of the family they look at them as entertainment. Its his culture and its what he was taught. It was a mistake and for you to wish bodily harm on a human for doing something he didnt even know was that severe is extremely low class of you in my honest opinion. As well as for others who yell, "he should go to jail for life" thats just dumb. He fucked up big time and he lost everything. For you to say that a guy should loose his only real source of income even after he has been jailed is sickening to me.

Again, you ignore the fact that I am not wishing harm on Vick for simply dog fighting.  I said in my first post that if Vick had simply fought dogs, that would be a mistake and that could be forgiven.  Vick smashed the skulls of puppies with blunt objects, hung dogs, strangled dogs and shot them for NO REASON.  Are you saying Vick was taught to torture and abuse animals with violent force?  If so his parents should have been put in jail.  You are making excuses.

Are you saying that Vick didn't know that smashing a puppies skull with a rock was low class? How about electrocuting them?  Maybe hanging them?  Thats more than low class, that's sick and twisted.  You're wrong for not being able to see the point I was making in my post.  I don't care if Vick is sorry for mutilating animals for years....he knew better.  It's not about the fighting of the dogs (that can be forgiven after sufficient punishment), it's about the mutilation and murder of several animals with his bare hands.

Vick did much more than fight dogs.  A person who has the ability to splatter and innocent puppies brains all over the wall and to torture innocent animals for years, is a piece of shit.  A mistake is not pre meditated torture for years on end, thats called a sickness.  Most serial killers do the same kind of shit.  Look it up.

Don't call me chief because I don't agree with you.  Directly address the points about mutilation and the torture of animals in my above post.  We have already established that dog fighting is not the main source of my anger. Frankly, I think your current argument is logical if we were just talking about dog fighting.

Take your problems up with Ron.  You're just getting annoying now.  I am allowed to be passionate about the teams that I like because I am a fan, and I am also allowed to have an opinion on anything I wish.  Clearly Calvin is a yankees/giants fan, and that's perfectly fine with me.  The only posts I delete are inflammatory ones that serve no purpose.  I owe you nothing.  Jimmy and I started this board as a place for people to talk sport (including me)....if you don't like the way I mod, take it up with Ron, or don't post.  I don't care either way.  You're reputation is well known on this board, and I never delete your posts.

Poor argument from people that like Vick or have a skewed view of culture.  So is it the culture of white supremacists to kill, burn and/or hang black people?  They don't know any better then to hate the "coons" who come their neighborhood.

I think Vick should be thrown into a pit bull cage and see how it goes.  Seriously, killing a weaker animal because it lost you yo paper is stupid and if that is ghetto culture then maybe we should be doing some ethnic cleansing.

Any normal person would likely have spent more time in jail.  He should be in jail longer and the NFL shouldn't consider letting him back in.  He'll never get the punishment he really deserves.

Agreed.  Whats Mal and others fail to admit is that most people like me are not totally outraged by Vick fighting dogs.  I understand that people make mistakes, and although I think that people who do that sort of thing are total scumbags, in Vicks case, the prison sentence and the loss of millions of dollars would have been sufficient punishment if he had just the fought dogs.  My beef comes from the fact that Vick mutilated puppies and killed innocent animals for laughs.  There is something wrong with a person who can take a puppy and smash it's head in and find it funny.  Vick did this for years, and although Mals horrible, excuse filled argument about the culture of dog fighting could be true, the mutilation and torture of innocent creatures for pleasure is certainly not something that is taught by a culture.  Maybe a culture of serial killers....

It does not matter if you are a dog lover or not, no matter how you feel about the importance of animals, you must find something very wrong with a star athlete who tortures, maimes and kill living creatures for fun.  If not you are a fool.

Vick should never play in the NFL again.  If he does, he should get a taste of the pain a few of those animals felt as he was crushing their skulls with blunt objects.  Vick is a vile human, plain and simple.

Like i said before chief. Im not for the dog fighting or anything jack. I dont know about his torture of dogs but even with that. It dont change my position on it. In Vicks mind a dog carries the same importance as an insect. He wasnt taught to look at them as members of the family (as my dogs are). If you listen to anyone who knows Vick (coaches, players etc) they all say he is a nice well adjusted young man. So its not like he is some psychopath. He dont put the same value on a dog as we do. And its not isolated to michael vick.

I can understand body88's stance. My sister and mom feel the same. My sister thinks vick should be in jail for life or executed. But i dont think the same way. He dont think of dogs as domesticated. I really think he still dosent really know the extent to where he fucked up. Should he be punished...yes. im not sure if any of you went to jaul. But a year in levenworth aint no easy thing. Jail is pretty fucked up. Loosing all his bread from football he will never get back. thats pretty fucked up. I think that once he gets out he should be able to go about life as usual

Bro, I get what you are saying, but it just doesent make sense.  Anyone who can smash the skulls of puppies in the name of fun is not a nice person.  Whether you look at dogs as insects or as members of the family, a man who attended college should understand that the mutilation and the murder of innocent creatures is not right, and it's sick.  I was never specifically taught to treat dogs with respect, but I didn't kill them for fun.  Many a serial killers started out mutilating animals like dogs and cats.

Oh brother.  Here we go again.  You claim that it's a black man's culture to fight and kill dogs so I counter and say that it's a southern white man's culture (which I am not) to hate "coons" and they used to kill, hang and burn them.  Those little hicks "don't know any better".  See how dumb that sounds?  That's the point.  Instead of dismissing the comments, answer them if you can.  When I hear about Peyton Manning doing this shit, believe me you will be hearing from me.  The thing is, nobody will be stepping up and saying that it's just a part of culture.

Most of the white criminals I read about are white collar crime.  If you want to castrate Bernie Madoff, Barnie Frank, and other people who fuck people out of money then come join me.  If you want to help me mine the border so illegals can't cross, some help.  I don't discriminate against dumb fucks and people who break the law.

One year in jail is not going to teach him anything.  At least he'll be bankrupt.  Hopefully this teaches other athletes a lesson.

Vick has been punished enough.  He was one of a handful of NFL players who made a lot of endorsement money.  He was a multimillionaire.  He has not lost his money, his job, served time in prison, lost the right to vote, lost the right own weapons, paid restitution (I think), became a pariah, and will be a convicted felon for the rest of his life.

I'm a dog lover too, but he didn't kill people.  People are > than animals.  We reserve our worst punishments for those who harm people.

Where is the evidence that he personally tortured and killed dogs?  I haven't heard that one.

You really don't need to explain yourself or justify what you do.  Everyone who posts here knows you do a great job.  Don't get sucked into these kinds of exchanges with that guy.  We all know he can't post more than two or three times in a row without insulting people.

You're right.  Thanks for the kind words.

Murderers often begin killing animals before they kill people.  If you can devalue a loving animal and kill it, you can eventually do the same to a human.

Not that simple. Do you eat horse meat in the states? In scandinavia we do.
Do you eat dog meat in the states? In far east they do, often. In tourist crowded Thailand dog is just one of the meats on the menu.

Just saying what Big_Mal is saying about culture and all that.

Body88 - what if Vick becomes a Patriot? And what if, after week 3, he has 6 scores. 2 PR for TD, 1 KO for TD, 1 rush and catch each?

Donates half of his salary to homeless dogs.

Would you be willing to reconsider?

It's in the reports.  Look into the case.  I don't think wishing he has a non life threatening injury is the worst type of punishment.

I looked at the plea agreement and it doesn't say that he personally killed dogs.  In one part it says he did not personally kill dogs and in one part it says 6 to 8 dogs were kills as a result of the "collective" efforts of the members of his group.

I think it's actually serial killers that start with animals.  I seriously doubt Vick was going to start murdering people.  He was an idiot, but I don't think he was a potential murderer.

I don't either, but the behavior is what it is....sick and twisted.  There really is no excuse for killing and mutilating defensless animals that are smart enough to sense fear, and to experience a painfull death via beating and electrocution.

If You want to say that Vick has been punished enough for fighting dogs, I agree.  But to defend his actions beyond that is ridiculous (I'm not directing this towards you).  He beat and tortured Innocent animals for fun, for years!  It's no ones fault but his own.  If you were the CEO of Nike, would you want a guy who tortured animals to represent your brand?  A known dog fighter?  Would you feel good about giving him MILLIONS of dollars?  Vick's punishment is nones fault bit his own.  It's not black culture, it's not a mistake (a mistake is a one time thing Vick did this for years and tried to cover his tracks), it's Mike Vick (a college educated man) making his own bed, and now he has to sleep in it.  Not only did Vick force dogs to fight till the death for years, he shot, beat, mutilated, strangled and electrocuted dogs for fun.  Fuck that piece of garbage.  I'd say the same about anyone found guilty of the same crime.

I doubt he will be a major murderer but I wouldn't be surprised if he shot someone some day.

No.
I too, differentiate animals from humans.

I tried to point to "devalue". Somewhere dog is not an domestic animal.

Bunnies are lovable but still people shoot them and eat them.

Not torture though...

I don't have a lot of sympathy for him, but just a couple clarifications.  He apparently didn't personally torture and kill dogs.  Also, he has paid a penalty that is more severe than for some who have actually killed people.  If he is truly repentant, then given his punishment, I hope he returns the NFL and has a successful career.  It's not like he some special class of criminal (e.g., rapist, child molester, etc.).

I'm sure that's possible, but the overwhelming majority of NFL millionaires don't shoot people.

He did.  There is absolutly no way to defend this scumbag.  Saying that what he did is part of black culture or trying to claim dogs are not as important as people does not change the fact that he did sick and twisted things to dogs who would not fight till the death.  Vick knew better, he went to college for crying out loud.  Again, I hope he never plays another down in the NFL again.....and if he does, I hope someone makes him feel a fraction of the pain one of the dogs he hung did.  Sick shit.

In Virginia facing state dogfighting charges, Vick's involvement revealedComment Email Print By Kelly Naqi

Suspended Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick placed family pet dogs into a ring and his trained pit bulls "caused major injuries" to the pets at Bad Newz Kennels, according to a U.S. Department of Agriculture report released on Friday.

The 17-page report, prepared by the USDA's inspector general-investigations division, provided some new details on Vick's participation in Bad Newz Kennels, the dogfighting operation financed by Vick and formed along with his friends Tony Taylor, Purnell Peace and Quanis Phillips.

Michael Vick, arriving to federal court in August 2007, is isolated at the Riverside Regional Jail in Virginia to avoid disruptions. The report, dated Aug. 28, 2008, says, "Vick, Peace and Phillips thought it was funny to watch the pit bull dogs belonging to Bad Newz Kennels injure or kill the other dogs." The report has names and phrases redacted in order to protect the anonymity of certain individuals who cooperated with investigators.

The report also states in mid-April of 2007, Vick, Peace and Phillips hung approximately three dogs who did not perform well in a "rolling session," which indicates the readiness of a dog to fight. According to the report, the three men hung the dogs "by placing a nylon cord over a 2 X 4 that was nailed to two trees located next to the big shed. They also drowned approximately three dogs by putting the dogs' heads in a five gallon bucket of water."

Vick initially told authorities "while he assisted Phillips and Peace in the killing of the dogs, he did not actually kill the dogs," but "helped Phillips toss several dogs to the side," according to the report.

However, the report says Vick took back that statement when he failed a polygraph test. "Vick failed the examination as it related to the killing of the dogs in April 2007. Ultimately, Vick recanted his previous statement wherein he said he was not actually involved in the killing of six to eight dogs. ... Vick admitted taking part in the actual hanging of the dogs."

Vick, the report says, paid someone whose name was redacted $100 to dig two graves for the dog carcasses. "Based on past circumstances," the report says, "Phillips and Peace did not like [Vick] to do any type of work that could injure him and jeopardize his NFL contract." When the person who dug the graves refused to bury the animals, the report says, Vick, Peace and Phillips buried the dogs themselves.

Vick is serving a 23-month sentence in a minimum-security federal prison camp in Leavenworth, Kan., on a conspiracy charge relating to the interstate dogfighting operation he helped run on a property he owned in Surry County, Va. Vick is scheduled to be released on July 20, 2009.

Vick is currently being held in protective custody at Riverside Regional Jail in Hopewell, Va., until his hearing on Tuesday in Surry County Circuit Court to plead guilty to two state charges related to dogfighting.

The state charges -- one count of torturing and killing dogs and one count of promoting dogfighting -- each carry a maximum prison term of five years. But under the terms of his plea agreement, Vick is expected to receive a three-year suspended prison term and a $2,500 fine (which would be suspended if he pays court costs and maintains good behavior for four years).

By resolving the pending state charges, Vick would qualify to participate in the Federal Bureau of Prisons re-entry program, which could enable him to serve part of the remainder of his federal sentence in a halfway house.

According to the Bureau of Prisons, in 2007, for inmates who qualified, the average length of their time served at a halfway house was three months.

Vick, who was once the NFL's highest-paid player, has been washing pots and pans for 12 cents an hour, according to Falcons owner Arthur Blank, who has said he's kept in touch with Vick through written correspondence.

Blank said Vick also told him he's passing the time and staying in shape by playing quarterback for both sides during prison football games. Vick, 28, is still under contract with the Falcons.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell suspended Vick indefinitely without pay on Aug. 24, 2007, and has said he will review the status of Vick's suspension following the conclusion of Vick's legal proceedings.

Vick's lawyers, the NFL and the Falcons were not immediately available for comment.

His plea likely included the fact that he would not be named in torturing those dogs if he pleaded guilty and took the jail time.  he failed a polygraph and he had several of his partners state that he killed animals personally.

I know plenty of people from the south, and they don't hang dogs and drown them in buckets of water for fun.  Of course Vick was made an example.  This is a guy who makes MILLIONS of dollars, and he is dumb enough to run a Tobit dogfighting ring out of one of his homes, and sick enough to kill animals with cruel forms of torture.  Vick is borderline retarded.

I know, but he admitted to investigators that he partook in the killing of the dogs, failed the polygraph and had sworn statements written by his partners confirming the allegations.  The plea can be seen as public record, and Vick had that portion of his crime removed as part of his deal.
