The next 5 Star Wars films

http://www.msn.com/en-us/movies/news/heres-when-the-next-five-star-wars-movies-come-out/ar-BBo3Rh3?ocid=spartandhp

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Director: Gareth Edwards
Written by: Gary Whitta and Chris Weitz
Starring: Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, and Alan Tudyk
Logline: Following the foundation of the Galactic Empire, a wayward band of Rebel fighters comes together to carry out a desperate mission: to steal the plans for the Death Star before it can be used to enforce the Emperor's rule.
Release: Dec. 16, 2016

(So, yes, a long full year. But given we had to wait a decade for The Force Awakens -- or, depending on your feelings about the prequels, 32 years since Return of the Jedi -- sitting back for just one year doesn't seem all that bad ... Plus, it's then only about five months until ...)

Star Wars: Episode VIII

Written and directed by Rian Johnson
Starring: Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac (reportedly)
Release: May 26, 2017
Logline: Unknown

Star Wars Anthology: Han Solo (working title)

Directors: Phil Lord and Christopher Miller
Written by: Lawrence and Jon Kasdan
Starring: Not yet announced
Logline: How young Han Solo became the smuggler, thief, and scoundrel whom Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi first encountered in the cantina at Mos Eisley.
Release: May 25th, 2018

Star Wars: Episode IX

Director: Colin Trevorrow
Writer: Rian Johnson
Starring: Not yet announced
Logline: Unknown
Release: 2019

Star Wars Anthology: Boba Fett

Director: Not yet announced
Writer: Not yet announced
Starring: Not yet announced
Logline: Unknown
Release: 2020 (reportedly)

So if all this goes according to plan, we'll get five Star Wars films in four years ... after getting "only" seven Star Wars films over 38 years. Not bad!

Star Wars: Episode VIII to Open December 15, 2017

The release date for the next film in the saga is confirmed.

Today, Disney and Lucasfilm announced that Star Wars: Episode VIII, originally scheduled for release in summer 2017, will now debut on December 15, 2017.

The move follows the extraordinary success of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which was the first Star Wars movie to premiere outside the traditional summer blockbuster window and smashed numerous records, including biggest domestic and global debuts of all time as well as the biggest domestic second and third weekends, en route to becoming the highest grossing domestic release of all time with over $861.3 million and the third biggest global release ever with $1.886.7 billion.

Disney has started laying off 21st Century Fox executives after officially closing on its $71.3 billion dollar deal to acquire the studio.

More than 20 executives, who worked at the 20th Century Fox Studios lot, were let go. Another 3,000 people are expected to be laid off in the coming months because of the merger.

Departments with a lot of overlap such as marketing and distribution are expected to be most affected by the reductions in staff.

Disney also announced Thursday it was shutting down Fox 2000, a division that produced films such as“Fight Club," “The Devil Wears Prada” and “Love, Simon.”

The Mandalorian Documentary Series Announced For Disney+

Five episodes in, and The Mandalorian is proving very much worth the wait. The first live-action Star Wars show is currently arriving weekly on the Disney+ streaming service, with three instalments yet to come – and beyond that, we’ll be heading back to its world sooner than expected. While Series 2 isn’t due to arrive until later this year, in a few weeks we’ll be getting a brand new behind-the-scenes look at the show. Disney has just confirmed a new series titled Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian – an eight-episode documentary series that delves into the making of the hit show. The series is due to stream of Disney+, and will, fittingly, begin rolling out from May the 4th.

The episodes are set to focus on topics including the filmmaking process, the legacy of George Lucas, the creation of the characters, the practical effects, the score, and more. “Disney Gallery: Star Wars: The Mandalorian is an opportunity for fans of the show to take a look inside and get to see a different perspective, and perhaps a greater understanding, of how The Mandalorian came together and some of the incredibly talented contributors throughout Season 1,” says Jon Favreau. “We had a great experience making the show and we’re looking forward to sharing it with you.” No word yet on whether we’ll get to see the exact moment Werner Herzog fell head-over-heels for Baby Yoda – he was reportedly brought to tears by the sight of the adorable puppet on set.

There should be plenty of interesting stuff to see in the making of The Mandalorian – not only the pioneering virtual production techniques (instead of green-screens they used giant ultra-high-definition video backgrounds that give the illusion of vast environments), but also the likes of Taika Waititi, Jon Favreau, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Deborah Chow helming their own Star Wars adventures. Howard and Chow are notably the first women to direct any form of live-action Star Wars material – so putting footage of the pair doing just that out into the world can only be a positive thing.

Anyone watching Ahsoka?

I have watched.

Some cool stuff, but meh overall.

Not really a fan of the "padawan" so far.

EDIT: Anakin scenes were cool.
