Welcome, tell us what happened between 87 and 02............seems like an awful long break.
-
Can you post some pics please :)
And do u plan on competing anytime soon?
-
welcome Marty!
I was a big fan of you physique when I started training, you definately would have been a great pro in the late 80's early 90's. That variation on the most muscular you did is/was a great Vranicar signature pose.
-
Marty, welcome to the board.........I`m a long time fan of your physique.
Congrats on getting pro status..............you look better than ever!

AVBG, Marty was a NABBA Pro back then.
Funny thing is that when Mike first got interested in bodybuilding and created his own personal gym in his basement, he had hung pictures of those that inspired him on the walls. One of which was Marty. I'm sure that looking back to that time...he never thought he would become friends with him.
Marty's a great guy and great friend to us both. :)

This picture?

Okay, I guess I'll just jump out and ask. You worked out in the 80's and I presume used anabolics to get big. What has changed comparing steroid use in the 80's vs. today? Quantity, quality, HGH, Insulin, others?
Thanks!
By the way. Welcome!

Hi Marty, great to have you here. I remember you well from the magazines several years back. It's great to see that you are still competing as I've always been impressed with those who keep up the lifestyle as they get past their 40's. I remember you had a brother that competed as well. How's he doing? Anyhow, I'll see you at your new gym soon since I live fairly close.

D.) All the above. In massive dosages...I'm sure.

Hey!
I don't remember which year it was, or which contest, but I was there when you took First in whatever contest it was at Lisner Auditorium in Washington. 1983? or 1985?

Marty your a "Sticky"! (Thanks Ron!).....................
Marty obviously is a man of few words (mainly because he can't type lol!)
Marty just opened a gym in Palm Beach Gardens FL (Fitness America),it's only been open a ,month so hes there 24-7 and very busy with it,myself i think Marty will compete again (on an IFBB pro-stage)
Marty is a "classic old-skool" bodybuilder back from the days of Berry DEmey,Gaspari,Mike Christian,Lee Haney,Samir etc etc
Marty competed mainly in AAU, NABBA and was the 1985 MR USA (overall winner),Marty and his brother Pete were featured prominently in the bodybuilding publications back in the 1980's ( i remember seeing Marty in them )
Marty is very well know and liked in florida bodybuilding circles (earning him the nickname "The Governor" From Get-Big's own LLES (Larry) beacause all he does is "shake hands and kiss babies" at local bodybuilding shows
Marty is a great guy and we are lucky to have him here!

HEY MARTY,GREAT BUILD NOW/THEN,u were great in those aau days,typical gruskin boy,big legs,great conditioning,you,terra,kutchurak,deangelis,pete miller,harrop,jim katsakis sp?all same mold,good to have u here.
-
Hi Laura, yeah I knew he was with nabba as a pro but tbh nabba's profile was only marginally bigger than it is now, particularly in Aus and Marty's physique would have been competitive in the IFBB.
Mike, that's the pic!!!
-
unstickied LOL!
(Was that from Marty's lack of answerring questions in this thread?)
-
Could be, but Marty is pretty busy with the gym and all. Not to mention he is totally NOT computer savy, so if we're not there, he doesn't know how to float around. He'll get it eventually though. :)
-
It wasn't unstickied because of anything Marty did or did not do, we have enough stickies up top of pros answering questions IMO, so we unstickied it. If he answers questions and people enjoy conversing with him, his thread will stay up high anyway.
Absolutely nothing personal at all and I hope marty enjoys posting on The Positive Board! :)
-
hi Marty.
i've got a lot of old mags, and found a few articles on you. i'm sure you've seen them (then again, i gave Milos a lot of magazines with articles on him that he had never seen). anyway, would you like me to scan and post them on here?? there is a cool pic of your dad between you and your brother when you competed the same day.
