I saw him compete at a Night of the Champions in Manhattan. Saw him on a city street too. He is listed at 5'2"  I think that was a little optimistic. He looked shorter. One of the great bodybuilders of all time. I really like his training philosophy too.

Wht was his training philosophy?

From what I have read is 5 sets of 12 reps per exercise. Four exercise per body part using the same weight for each set. He used a traditional three way split but close to the contest he did one half of the body one day and the next day the other half. I think it was the 1981 Olympia he would throw in 5 mile runs in the mix.

Still my all-time favorite pose. The old-school standing relax pose.

This is perfection to me.

its the only pose that really matters outside a contest, and its the only pose anyone should be doing outside a bodybuilding stage, jeez, when I see people hitting double bicep poses at the beach I cringe with embarrassment

Question for all you old-timers:

On the left is Dave Draper, in the center is Joe Weider I believe, but who is the guy on the right?

6 REPS, the guy on the right is BILL McARDLE (spelling?)

According to MuscleMemory Bill passed away in 1995 but I thought that it was many years earlier.

Larry Scott trained Bill for the 1965  Mr. California contest and Bill was expected to win but he was beaten by Jonh Corvello.

How the hell draper get a long sleeve shirt up that high to show the whole upper arms?

Exactly! Posing you can hide flaws. The only one that really matters is how you look in everyday life doing everyday things. I never understood why guys, and now girls, hit a double bi during weigh ins.
