I think he had ( as did Haney ) short humerus bones. Just a half (3/4) longer and it would be a game changer for those type of guys.

It's more the shape of the muscles. Both Haney and Yates had somewhat short biceps so their arms never looked as good as Arnold's

short humerus would make an arm look larger than an identical size arm with a longer reach.

my damn arms are so long they wouldn't look big no matter what i did.

Yikes! You got me beat. My shrunken height is 69 1/2" with an arm span of 71 1/2". There was a time, a long time ago when I was 71 1/2" tall and everything was evenly matched.

by myself they were proportionately small, but by others
you could see there was some size there.
