There is nothing obtuse about what I posted. The U.S. does not have any open borders. Plain and simple. You can take exception with how a border is patrolled and protected, but if it is patrolled and protected in some way, no matter how ineffective, it is a closed border.
Apparently, you have not traveled much. If you had, you would know the difference between an open and a closed border. I do travel, so I have some knowledge of the difference between an open border and a closed border.
The United Kingdom and Ireland do not have open borders. Northern and Southern Europe have open borders. When driving from Germany to France, to Spain or Italy, etc. The only way to know if you have traveled to a different country is if there is a roadside Welcome sign. There is no (zero) border patrol and there are no check points. You do need a passport as identification at airports, should you want to stay at a hotel, or need to present your I.D. to the authorities.
Which border do you suppose is easier cross into the U.S. from, Canada or Mexico. Both have checkpoints, border patrol personnel, and require you show identification and declare any goods you are either bringing into or out of a Country.
