You realize the "Wagner Group" or whatever the fuck it's called that is currently fighting Ukraine is only 5% of Russia's active military personnel?

Over 20,000 Wagner Fighters Dead in Drawn-Out Battle for Bakhmut, Chief Says

KYIV, Ukraine — The head of the Russian private army Wagner says his force lost more than 20,000 men in the drawn-out battle for Bakhmut. He said about half of those who died in the eastern Ukrainian city were Russian convicts recruited to fight in the 15-month-old war.

Analysts believe the nine-month fight for Bakhmut alone has cost the lives of tens of thousands of soldiers, among them convicts who reportedly received little training before being sent to the front.

Wagner Group reports 10,000 prisoner deaths

"I took 50,000 prisoners of which around 20% were killed," Prigozhin said in a video interview published late on Tuesday.

He added that a similar proportion had been killed among the general population who had also chosen to enlist with the mercenary group.

"There are now tens of thousands of relatives of those who were killed. Probably there will be hundreds of thousands," he said in the interview. "We cannot hide from this."

10000 my ass.

They were using them as cannon fodder. In the front line with the experienced professional Wagnerites behind them. The Ukrainians open fire, kill/wound the prisoners and the pros fire on the now revealed Ukrainian positions.

If 10% of these 50000 survived I'd be surprised.

Ukraine is where worthless people and worthless outdated weaponry from both sides go to die. Nobody knows who is "winning" though.  ::)

The partial destruction of the Kakhovka Dam on early Tuesday morning saw Kiev and Moscow exchange accusations about who’s to blame, but a report from the Washington Post (WaPo) in late December extends credence to the Kremlin’s version of events. Titled “Inside the Ukrainian counteroffensive that shocked Putin and reshaped the war”, its journalists quoted former commander of November’s Kherson Counteroffensive Major General Andrey Kovalchuk who shockingly admitted to planning this war crime:

“Kovalchuk considered flooding the river. The Ukrainians, he said, even conducted a test strike with a HIMARS launcher on one of the floodgates at the Nova Kakhovka dam, making three holes in the metal to see if the Dnieper’s water could be raised enough to stymie Russian crossings but not flood nearby villages. The test was a success, Kovalchuk said, but the step remained a last resort. He held off.”

His remark about how “the step remained a last resort” is pertinent to recall at present considering that the first phase of Kiev’s NATO–backed counteroffensive completely failed on Monday according to the Russian Ministry of Defense. Just like Ukraine launched its proxy invasion of Russia in late May to distract from its loss in the Battle of Artyomovsk, so too might does it seem to have gone through with Kovalchuk’s planned war crime to distract from this most recent embarrassment as well.

Collapse of critical Ukrainian dam sparks region-wide evacuations.

Funny how Russia had already evacuated the areas around the Dnipro weeks in advance… almost like they were planning to do this for a long time.

Just like with Nord Stream the attack was immediately blamed on Russia, per usual establishment media propaganda. The question, again, is would this strike benefit Russia or not and in which way?

Btw, this was posted today:

US had intelligence of Ukrainian plan to attack Nord Stream project -Washington Post

The United States learned of a Ukrainian plan to attack the Nord Stream natural gas pipelines three months before they were damaged last September by underwater explosions, The Washington Post reported on Tuesday, citing leaked information posted online.

The CIA learned last June, through a European spy agency, that a six-person team of Ukrainian special operations forces intended to blow up the Russia-to-Germany project, the newspaper reported.

The intelligence reporting was shared online on Discord, purportedly by Air National Guard member Jack Teixeira, who was arrested in April and charged in relation to the leak of sensitive U.S. documents. The Washington Post said it obtained a copy from one of Teixeira's online friends.

I just watched the video. That’s fucked up.

The ironic part, is that America and other NATO allies have done FAR worse things in the last 20-30 years.

Far worse.

We should discuss Vietnam and Cambodia too, if we want to go all in. ;)

Article written by Soros. Amidst the wishful thinking and propaganda, notice the bold part.

Can Democracy Survive the Polycrisis?

Russia's war on Ukraine

This brings us to the third component of the polycrisis. The Russian invasion of Ukraine came as a negative shock to the world, disrupting food supplies and causing major geopolitical realignments. Having said that, the actual outcome is much better than could have been expected. The Ukrainian army put up heroic resistance and, with strong support from the US and Europe, turned things around. The Russian army proved to be a paper tiger, badly led and thoroughly corrupt. The Wagner Group, a private mercenary army, propped up the invasion for a period, but in the end, they too failed to defeat Ukraine.

As a result, Ukraine is now ready to launch a counterattack as soon as all of the equipment it has been promised by the West is delivered. Biden has even agreed that Ukraine should be given F-16 fighter planes.

I believe the counterattack will be successful. The target will be the Crimean Peninsula, the home base of the Russian Navy. By destroying the already damaged land bridge with Russia, Ukraine could turn a strategic asset into a strategic liability, because Crimea has no water. With the land bridge destroyed, Crimea will depend on Ukraine for water.

Many parts of the Russian Federation are already chafing under President Vladimir Putin’s despotic regime, and this development may cause them to reject it altogether. Putin’s dream, a revived Russian Empire, could disintegrate and no longer pose a threat to Europe and the world.

The end of the war in Ukraine will come as a positive shock for the world. This may provide an opportunity for Biden to lower the tension between the US and China, which is itself in the midst of an economic decline that may make President Xi Jinping more receptive to an accommodation with the US. Biden is not seeking regime change in China; all he wants is to reestablish the status quo in Taiwan.

A Russian defeat in Ukraine, and a lessening of Sino-American tensions, may create room for world leaders to focus on fighting climate change, which is threatening to destroy our civilization. But there is only a narrow and winding path that leads to this outcome. So, it is appropriate to use a question mark in asking whether democracy can survive the polycrisis.

Unconfirmed deaths 500k Ukranians and 160k Russian including Wagner.  Would be 50k if NATO had not intervened at day 6  all they are doing now is killing of Ukrainians in the hope that one day in the future they can at least financially exploit some part of Ukraine. Disgrace but typical of the west

Nato pushed Ukraine to continue fighting when they were ready to negotiate with Putin like a year ago.

Weird.

I didn’t realize NATO attacked Iraq.

I wonder why Canada wasn’t involved.

🙄🙄

Last I checked the US was a member of NATO and I'm pretty sure they dropped 1 or 2 bombs in Iraq.

As for why Canada wasn't involved, I'm guessing if the rest of them are like you it's cos they are a bunch of huge pussies.

No, but “we” egged them on without any chance of destruction to us in the West. They bear the brunt of it while we cheer them on from the sidelines.

Ukraine has never been ready to negotiate. There is only one acceptable option for them; expel the invader out of all their land.
