Is and Was are two different things.  The official rules use to be 365 days drug free, but without year round testing how could you enforce that?  Drug tests are expensive, even if it is just the day of the contest. No way a promoter is going to pay for every contestant to be tested.  At most a couple of random people are tested.  Or more likely not so random.  Pick the ones least likely to be on steroids and then you can say no tests came back positive.  Most likely it's everyone pees into a cup and then the cups are thrown away.

I agree - but I've come to realize all of bodybuilding is a giant fraud.

It's all drugs. I mean, who gains muscle as a natural? There is a reason why I competed in strength contests naturally - you can make incremental strength gains from workout to workout in the gym.

As for testing at natural contests, Layne Norton said he was drug-tested, and had to pass a polygraph [?] test for some reason.

I think he got maybe 420-lb in any actual bench press contest in 2007, if that.

Come to think of it, he may have totalled 1,550-lb or more at that contest - so hey...fair play to him. He's pretty strong.

But the fake weight videos are on for hand, lol.

Was he much bigger before? He claims 245-250 at about 5'9" or just over. He always seems to stay in shape, but not in contest shape - but not exactly out of shape either.

He had or has his only supplement company too. Maybe that's what the booth is for.

Brad is also very strong, seen here squatting 12 plates per side [1,125-lb - the all-time unequipped world record in the squat for ANY body weight, which Brad unofficially holds]:

I didn't follow the fake plates controversy. Was it ever verified there were fake plates involved? No matter, the dude is brutally strong.

And like I said, the injury resistance is amazing considering how he lifts. Everyone was predicting he would have torn himself to shreds by now.

I remember arguing with Dante Doggcrapp about Brad's drug free status. He was saying how Brad was natural and didn't know anything about steroids. Then Brad said he was using these "pro-steroids" from bb.com. "If you think that is juicing, well..." Yeah I did think that is juicing, of course. A few years later Dante conceded he was now on a substantial stack. He didn't put on a shit load of muscle overnight, it was more incremental as he increased the drugs. It's not like there is just juiced and not and nothing between. That's why someone can be a certain size for years and then experience another growth spurt, doesn't mean he was natural before.
