may sound crazy, but try yoga.

I put on some weight when I was injured, so when I got to training again my lower back would spaz out often. One of my trainers recommended I do yoga while I slim down a bit. It helped..was weird at first but I gave it an honest try and it helped my back along with a pain in my neck and also my plant foot.

yes I have a similar problem.

First up your potassium.  Make sure you are drinking enough water during the day.
Then incorporate back extensions into your routine, both the ones off the chair and the machine if you have both at your gym.  If for whatever reason they don't fit well into your workout routine, use light weight and high reps and consider them a stretching exercise.  I prefer to do 4 sets of 20 reps.
