destroy him at what? Golf? Pong?  Definitely not at bodybuilding.

They destroy him at pro bodybuilding.

Using IFBB judging criteria - they amassed careers that Paris couldn't hold a candle too.

I disagree. Paris had an outstanding bodybuilding career.  He was on dozens of magazine covers, appeared on talk shows, authored several bodybuilding books, and placed high in many ifbb shows. He is also regarded by most as the most aesthetic and symmetrical pro ever.

"Pro bodybuilding"?  Nope. Schmoe   bodybuilding?  Yup.

Grossly overdeveloped pigs versus a master of aesthetics?  Nubainian, puhleeeze.  And while Paris admitted being gay, these pigs in a blanket just do it for the  money.

Bob Paris looked awesome but for those saying he should have been
Mr. Olympia is ridiculous.
Now, he could have won a (World's most perfectly built man) but he did not come close
to meeting the requirements of a Mr. Olympia.
Sergio Oliva set the standard for what bodybuilding contests would be and everything after
would be an advancement on that standard.
Paris just didn't have the crazy round muscle bellies, dense/bulbous development
or the condition in all areas. (His glutes would be considered fat by 90's + standards
until today.
Perfect body for movies or picking up women. The modern Steve Reeves.

Chris Dickerson and Franco Columbu won the Mr. O

Your argument holds no water.

Bob Paris was so desperate he paid insane money for a few lousy units of GH when the synthetic stuff was new. Don't think he was some purist who wouldn't do any and all drugs available to succeed.

Semantics - he didn't win contests anywhere near the rate of those that I based my posts on - Yates / Coleman are the Ruths / Jordans / Gretskys of bodybuilding.  Paris doesn't compare in that respect.

I don't even know why they have a symmetry round anymore. They should just rename it to the clusterfuck round.

Do you know what symmetry means? It's not the same as aesthetics.

But I think, like I believe Chick said as well, that having "symmetry" and "posing" rounds makes no sense, any judge or fan critquing a bb looks at the whole package at once. Imagine actually putting the best poser or most symmetrical bb first in those rounds... now that would be a clusterfuck.

Arms aren't a "liability" I guess... thick back and traps. If you cut him off below the chest he actually looks kinda sorta okay.

40 years in the industry and a past judge I absolutely know what it means. I remember one year (maybe more) Ronnie won the symmetry round at an Olympia where he should have scored low. Although he should have won anyway that symmetry round he shouldn't have even been in the top 5 in that round. Btw, to the best of my knowledge there has never been an "aesthetics" round. So in the judging world symmetry = aesthetics. Besides....it's all subjective.
