I like gonzaga....he's always a tough bastard. I would give this card a B level. Honestly right now the UFC is struggling IMO. Very tough to put together a solid A level card. It might improve if they made the champs fight more then once per fucking year.

Overeem has been getting dropped left and right. I think his lost his chin and now with minimal effort gets knocked out. Bigfoot Silva, Ben Rothwell and Travis Browne have exposed the fact that he lost his chin, so as long as you are ever to connect.
Do I think Struve is a skilled heavyweight? Absolutely not, but Ben Rothwell isn't technical either and he trucked over Overeem.

And to think I was at the very first UFC when scrawny Royce, whom his cousin Jean Jacque Machado said was the only one to go from Purple belt to Black belt and at only 17 years old. (He didn't skip Brown belt because of skill and ability), tapped everyone out.

since allistair dont fight overseas no more and cant use his steroids hes finished, most pride guys that where all juiced up got crushed once they had to take drug test in the UFC,plus allistairs chin is pretty weak.if he had a chin like (big country)or (JDS) he would be a contender. if u want to rewatch the fights or miss them tonight just go to www.mma-core.com and u can watch them all for free,even the PPV events,wait about 3 hrs after the UFC goes off then this site will have the videos up to watch

I've wondered about that. Pride allowed and even encourage steroid use but other than the heavy weight class I doubted that steroids helped much. Not with weight classes. Is there really a huge difference in strength between two in shape men that weigh the same? If anything, the juiced guy would have less stamina because he's carrying more muscle than he naturally would. And I consider conditioning more important than strength in a fight with weight classes. And would his strength increase really be that dramatic? And taking steroids does not improve skill and technique.
And during Pride's glory days I considered them to have the best fighters, and so did many others. But it cannot be doubted that when Pride fighters moved to the UFC they were as a whole less than impressive. But I'm not sure if it was because they were just older and past their prime and not because they were juicing.

You're right in that respect. That's why I made an exception to heavyweights. There is more leeway and size disparity allowed. You can have a guy at 220 fighting someone at 265. With the other classes the weight doesn't vary more than 15 pounds but they are usually only within a few pounds at most between them.

Pride never allowed Steroids let alone encouraged it, some substance who were illegal in USA were legal in Japan. Many fighters knew that, but Pride did test their fighters on the more regular substance, and not all fighters were on steroids.
Many former/current Ufc fighters have admitted that steroid in early UFC were very common, like 90% common. Reason why George St.Pierre dropped out because of the bad testing.

Hendricks wanted the WADA testing, GSP wanted the VADA testing.
When Hendricks proposed the WADA testing GSP and his trainers declined, because WADA is so much tougher than VADA.
But I agree GSP may not have been on the steroids, but after that incident I(and many hardcore fans) sincerely doubt GSP.

Josh Barnett in an interview specifically said that it was made clear to him that PEDs were not disallowed. In fact, he felt that the environment in Pride was that because a blind eye was turned there was an implicit endorsement in the use of PEDS.

He may refer the PEDs' that were legal in Japan but not in the US.. Wanderlei and many other fighters said they did test their fighters, but was probably not a hard test.

r many years fans have speculated over how prevalent steroids were at the height of Pride Fighting Championships run as the premier organisation in mixed martial arts. There have been many rumours, and fighters themselves have spoken out about the use of performance enhancing drugs in the Pride era (see this article by the son of Pride and Shooto veteran Chris Brennan).

Enson Inoue, Shooto and Pride veteran (and 1-0 in the UFC), posted what is reportedly an excerpt from his Pride contract which isn't ambiguous in the least.

As you can see above, recreational drugs were tested for, but 'performance enhancing stimulants of (the) steroid based family' were 'specifically excluded from the scope of the test'.
In layman's terms, they weren't looking for any steroids. So in theory, a fighter could use them without having to worry about being caught. It doesn't say that steroids are fine and that fighters should use them, but what you see above is about as far away from a deterrent to using performance enhancing drugs as you can find.

Pride did test their fighters but there were big loopholes... but not taking anything from it, I've heard from the times I used to train mma that tons of UFC fighters also did PED's and steroids. Why do you think GSP pushed for better Steroid testing??!! and left after he wasn't heard???! ???
The reason why it was discussed so much was because people wanted to know where the best fighters were at.. Randy Couture vs Fedor, Liddell vs Wanderlei, etc.. but most knew that PrideFC did have the best fighters PED or not..

when i was sitting in hooters with tito,baroni and dana i asked them about the drug scene in MMA and baroni admitted he takes stuff,tito didnt though.he was the champ back then i guess he couldnt talk about it cause it wouldnt of looked good. tito did tell me that he knows tons of MMA pros thjat do use steroids and HGH though.this was back in 2001 though

nah tito used to kick rampages ass back then when rampage trained with punishment, they got along great. i remember chuck dropped tito with a body shot up at big bear and dana was screaming at tito saying GET THE FUCK UP MAN,lol. i talked to tito about the wanderlie fight in japan and he said wanderlie hits like a truck,hard as hell. baroni starts saying he will kick wanderlies ass and stuff and tito was just looking at him like he was crazy. dana was really cool man,really a great guy. heres a pic of me,tito and my wife at mohegan sun,im gonna post the others soon as i scan them again

honestly i just watched the jds fight this morning,i was just commenting on jds overall as a fighter.i think stripe won rd 1 and 2,i gave jr the 3 and 4,5 was a toss up but honestly jr might have edged him out in rd 5.a draw would of been nice imo

rewatch the fights and u will clearly see stipe controlled the center of the octagon all the way up to the late 4th and 5th rd when he got really tired,even rogan said it on numerous occassions on how stipe is just walking JR down.STIPE had the better accurate punches landing 54% to JRS 47 %.when stipe gets in cain type of shape and doesnt get tired the outcome will be different next time against JDS, only reason JDS got back into the fight in the 4th and 5th is cause stipe got gassed.JDS is got alot of experiance in long fights and stipe is still a young buck in the game,give stipe another year or so to get in better shape and he will be fighting for the title.JR used his experiance to beat the less seasoned stipe imo,stipe never been past 4 i dont think and JR been in afew 5 rd brawls.that makes a huge difference when it comes to the championship rds.cain set the blue print on how to beat JR but cain is also on another level when it comes to the clinch game and taking people down and not many people can take JR down as he is extremely hard to take down and holding him down is even tougher,but it does tire JR out alot having to keep fighting his way back to his feet so its a good strategy

rewatch the fights and u will clearly see stipe controlled the center of the octagon all the way up to the late 4th and 5th rd when he got really tired,even rogan said it on numerous occassions on how stipe is just walking JR down.STIPE had the better accurate punches landing 54% to JRS 47 %.when stipe gets in cain type of shape and doesnt get tired the outcome will be different next time against JDS, only reason JDS got back into the fight in the 4th and 5th is cause stipe got gassed.JDS is got alot of experiance in long fights and stipe is still a young buck in the game,give stipe another year or so to get in better shape and he will be fighting for the title.JR used his experiance to beat the less seasoned stipe imo,stipe never been past 4 i dont think and JR been in afew 5 rd brawls.that makes a huge difference when it comes to the championship rds.cain set the blue print on how to beat JR but cain is also on another level when it comes to the clinch game and taking people down and not many people can take JR down as he is extremely hard to take down and holding him down is even tougher,but it does tire JR out alot having to keep fighting his way back to his feet so its a good strategy

when i said young buck i shoulda clarified what i meant,i was trying to say as far as experiance in big fights(MAIN EVENTS 5 ROUNDERS). experiance is huge in those longer fights, experianced guys know not to BLOW THIER LOADS in the first 3 rds and then be gassed in the championship rds.stipe did look like the CRISPER PUNCHER but JR definately had the POWER PUNCHES.JR did have more over all punches and POWER SHOTS thrown but stipe had a better percentage of ACCURATE PUNCHES LANDING, stipe did have afew takedowns,wasnt able to capitilize on them though except afew times when JR was getting up breaking away from stipe. only thing that hurt stipe was his lack of experiance being the MAIN EVENT,ALOT OF TIMES these inexperianced fighters have an adrenaline dump in the first 2 rds and then they r shot the rest of the fight,im sure he learned a lesson from this and next time wont blow his load so early,but all in all he has nothing to b ashamed of cause he went 5 hard rds with the former champ and number 2 HW in the world imo and gave him a handful

I disagree.. I thought Stipe won.. it was close but he won by controlling & dictating the fight.
I agree that Stipe was slowing down later rounds but he was still 'eeking out the "W", judges also screw Joanna vs Claudia decision IMO.

You don't win fight because you walk forward or you are standing in the middle of the ring, Stipe lost because he was completely gassed and spent the last 3 rounds just looking at the clock ,waiting for the fight to end .
You should watch MMA with out commentary, all you do is parrot things Joe Rogan has said .

But sad watching Struve pounded like that after all his problems...

Exactly. I want to see fighters who are different and look different. Maybe a big white guy with a big gut who can't kick or wrestle but he has a hammer punch and heart of a lion and then put him up against a black guy from some french colony who is very athletic and quick. Guys who don't have 8 different coaches and 'perfect' training but they are real fighters not pretty boys with no heart. Also I don't want to see them fight in a boring UFC production where the fighters have to hug all their 8 coaches before the match at the same time as Rogan hypes them up with his boring and mindless screaming. I'd rather see them fight in an old football stadium in senegal where you have crazy crowds climbing all over the place and going crazy in general. No boring ufc fans who just pose with their ufc hats and smart phones.

Couldn't agree more. Diaz boys are great fighters, no doubt, but it's refreshing seeing a bully get dominated like that. Punked, really.
And Junior's fight was a badass slugfest, shot for shot. Couldn't score it if I'd tried, but JDS's face sure looked worse afterward. Doesn't really tell the whole story, though.

Junior sayed his face swells and bruises easily. When he looks like a monster he still (given the language barrier) expresses himself in a clear way. Even after the beating he took by Cain for 5 rounds he was still able to do a decent interview. I wouldn't worry to much about his brain.
Stipe on the other was in clear pain during the press conference. He could hardly keep himself sitting up straight and talking took a lot of effort. I know who landed the harder shots that fight.
