Title: Drew Brees is going to the HOF
Post by: Dos Equis on December 18, 2011, 12:22:16 PM
Heard Bradshaw say this today.  Took a look at Brees' numbers.  He's right.  Hadn't really thought about it before, but he is having a terrific career, and has a ring.

Here are his career numbers:

3530 completions (9th all time), 39,634 yards passing (13th), 267 TDs (11th), 143 INTs (57th), passer rating 93.1 (8th), five Pro Bowls, Super Bowl MVP.

Should be first ballot.

No doubt about it.  Perfect match with Sean Payton as a coach.

They make that offense go...

They are scary good.. a bit better than green bay IMO because they can run the ball

as a matter of fact.. they should have beaten green bay in the first game of the season. There were a couple of 3rd and 1 from the 1yd line that awful play calls were made..

But all in all... man this dude Breese is a beast and has like 4 great years left.

I agree.  NO will give GB all they want if they meet in the playoffs.  NO's receivers, plus Graham plus Sproles and they also have a decent running game?  It's just unfair.  I really like Brees too.  Classy guy who has a ton of leadership skills.

Right now, NO is better than GB... They are peaking at just the right time and are firing on all cylinders.

Brees is quite possibly the best QB in the game the past 5 years.

I've been saying he's this good for years, but people like to hug on other peoples nuts.

The guy is a machine. Brady/Manning/Brees/Rodgers in ANY order would be hard to argue.

he broke it.

It will be interesting what will happen next Sunday. Brady goes up against the Bills and the Pats need a win to secure home field in playoffs. And Brees may not have to play the whole game. Brady could put up 300 yards in the first half against the Bills and possibly throw for over 500 yards if the game is a shoot out which it probably will be. Both games go off at 1pm

By the way, Of course Brees is a first ballot HOF. It won't even be a discussion 5 years from now. The guy is a fucking stud for sure. And whats interesting is his mom was once a Getbigger. She killed herself when people found out she wasn't who she says she was.lol

No slowing down.

Drew Brees hurts foot, becomes 4th QB to reach 60K passing yards
Mike Triplett
ESPN Staff Writer

NEW ORLEANS -- Drew Brees on Monday night became the fourth quarterback in NFL history to throw for 60,000 yards.

He did it in style, with a 27-yard touchdown pass to receiver Brandin Cooks in the third quarter of a 35-27 loss. Unfortunately, it was the first thing that went right for the New Orleans Saints' offense all night, and they still trailed the Detroit Lions 28-10 after the score.

Drew Brees limped his way through an exciting comeback attempt in the second half, but the Saints couldn't overcome their self-inflicted wounds in a loss to the Lions on Monday night.
Brees, 36, suffered a right foot injury in the second quarter. He was in a walking boot as he addressed the media following the game and said he will have an MRI on Tuesday to determine the severity of the injury.

But he didn't miss a snap after the injury and actually played his best football from that point on despite being noticeably hobbled.

"I just had to keep it moving," he said. "I don't know exactly what we got going here, but we'll see after an MRI tomorrow."

Brees missed the team's Week 3 game this season with a shoulder injury, the first game he had missed because of injury since high school.

The Saints (5-9) have a short week to prepare for their home finale next Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars

Brees finished Monday's game with 341 yards and three touchdown passes, all of which he threw during a furious but futile second-half rally. He had no turnovers.

Brees is still more than 1,000 yards behind Dan Marino, who is third on the career yardage list. Ahead of Marino on the list are Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning at 71,871 yards and Brett Favre at 71,838.

Brees is making history on a weekly basis. On Monday, he also extended his NFL record to 10 straight seasons with 4,000 passing yards. No other QB has more than six straight seasons.

Last week, Brees moved past Marino for fourth place in NFL history when he threw his 421st career TD pass.

I was impressed by Drew's performance this past sunday. He proved he is still a leader, and a franchise quarterback.

If the Saints part ways with him, some team is going to get a damn good quarterback.

Drew Brees reaches 5,000 yards for fifth time
Posted by Michael David Smith on January 1, 2017

There have been nine 5,000-yard passing seasons in NFL history. Drew Brees has five of them.

Brees topped the 5,000-yard mark for the 2016 season today in Atlanta, making it the fifth time in the last nine seasons that Brees has reached the 5,000-yard mark. No other player in NFL history has even reached 5,000 yards twice. Only Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Dan Marino and Matthew Stafford have done it once.

Unfortunately for Brees, he’s doing it on a day when little else is going right for the Saints. Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan is playing a great game and closing in on 5,000 yards for the season himself, although he might not get there because the Falcons have a 35-13 lead and will likely run the ball for most of the fourth quarter.

Perhaps next year, Brees can throw for 5,000 yards for a sixth time — and the Saints can have a better team around him, so he’s not reaching 5,000 yards in a meaningless Week 17 game.

Saints' Drew Brees sets two NFL records in blowout win on 'Monday Night Football'
Brees continues to add his name in the NFL history books
Bryan DeArdo
 @BryanDeArdo

Drew Brees has further solidified his legacy as one of the most prolific passers in NFL history. During the Saints 34-7 win on "Monday Night Football" over the visiting Colts, the 20-year veteran broke Peyton Manning's record for career touchdown passes during the third quarter with a five-yard strike to tight end Josh Hill to give the Saints a 27-0 lead over the Colts.

He tied the mark in the second quarter on 21-yard score to Tre'Quan Smith.

Brees, who needed three touchdowns entering the game to pass Manning, now has 541 career touchdown passes (he hit Taysom Hill for a score in the third quarter, marking his 21st straight completion in the game) and counting, passing Manning's 539.

Brees finished Monday night's game 29 of 30 for 307 yards and four touchdowns. He also set another NFL record by completing 96.7% of his passes.

Tom Brady, also a 20-year veteran, is third all-time with 538 touchdown passes. Brees, Brady and Manning are also top-three all-time in career passing yards, with Brees passing Manning's career mark during the 2018 season. Brady reacted after Brees set the mark.

The 32nd overall pick in the 2001 NFL Draft, the 40-year-old Brees and an 11-time Pro Bowler and 2006 All-Pro. In 2009, Brees led the NFL in completion percentage and touchdown passes while leading New Orleans to its first Super Bowl. Against Manning's Colts in Super Bowl XLIV, Brees won MVP honors after going 32 of 39 for 288 yards with two touchdowns and zero interceptions.

A future Hall of Famer, Brees has led the NFL in completion percentage six times that includes each of the past three years (including this season). He has also led the NFL in passing yards seven times and touchdown passes on four different occasions. Brees also has five of the top-10 most prolific passing seasons in NFL history. His 5,476 passing yards in 2011 was the single-season record before Manning topped it by a yard in 2013.

After not starting a single game as a rookie, Brees has compiled a 160-111 regular season record as an NFL starting quarterback. He owns an 8-7 record in the playoffs while completing 66.3 percent of his passes in postseason play.

Brees, who is under the final year of his contract, has not publicly stated whether or not this will be his final NFL season. It's reasonable to think that Brees may consider retirement if he is able to win his second Super Bowl at season's end, making him only the 13th starting quarterback in NFL history to win multiple Super Bowl titles.

He's still too short.

It's only a matter of time before he's waived and replaced by a 6'5" prototype QB.

well it took him about 5 years to become a good quarterback, which is why the chargers drafted eli and then traded eli for rivers
